It's all about stamina, build up your speed and you will have no problem with it.
Don't downpick too hard , let it be natural.
Play a shit ton of Metallica and it will come easy, make sure all songs you play are down picked except for obvious ones

That's exactly what i do in Logic 9. I need two different guitar tracks (mine) for the record, so thats what i meant by 'recorded two times'. I even have different amp settings for these two tracks so it cannot be recorded at once.

I'm recording the whole song, not by pieces. As the result I usually have 3 tracks in Logic 9 - original song, guitar track #1 recorded with video and guitar track #2 recorded again after video (with some amp settings changed).

You play the guitar very good.
You can record everything at once if you use Cubase. I've tried it before and I think this is the best option. Just start your video recording and put your backing track in a layer in Cubase. In a new layer you can record your guitar using Guitar Rig. Afterwards it's just a matter of syncing your video with the mixdown from Cubas.

I use Reaper, it's a great sofware too :)
When I record, I put a backing track and I use my BOSS BR-600 to record, after this I just copy/paste my track on reaper and I master it :).
I record 4 different track to have a better soud :)
