We live in the east valley of Phoenix. We keep our house at 78 during the day, and 76 at night, to save money. Our bill was $220 for July/August last year.
Thanks for sharing!! With baby due in August I know we’ll have to keep it cooler with a newborn… but hoping we can keep it a little higher in July!

I have SRP but I’m pretty sure APS also has a budget billing option which essentially flattens your bills so you won’t be 300-400 in July & August but you pay essentially your average bill every month. So yes, you overpay in winter and underpay in summer, but it helps with budgeting. And I am so sorry you will be 9 months pregnant in July/August, that will be brutal! Get a kiddie pool if you don’t have a pool in your backyard!
To save on electricity you can also get some black out curtains and close them in rooms you’re not using. That keeps the sun from heating up those areas. Also you can get a tower fan they are cheap to run and I just move mine to the room I’m in. You might want two for larger rooms such as a living room. But I live in an apartment so one works for me. For reference I live in Texas and the place I rent was built in the 70s so not as energy efficient as newer places. July-September seem to be the most expensive electricity if you’re trying to plan for that.
Yes! We got black out blinds and curtains for a few rooms that face the sun.

I lived in Arizona for three years brace yourself for your electric bill. I had a very lower electric bill because I’m frugal and didn’t blast. My AC lived in a 900 square-foot condo. One person was like 100 a month but my friends who have houses said they were getting bills for like 400 during summer the good thing about the electric there is that you can call and get on different plans if that might work better for you

We live in Phoenix and keep it at 73. The summers are expensive but the winter electricity bill is very cheap.
For reference we have a new build that’s 1600 sq ft and it’s about $300 a month in the summer.
Thanks for sharing! That’s great to know. In Oregon it seemed to be $200/month between gas and electric year round and we’ve definitely done less than that in the winter and early spring so far!
Wow you guys are doing amazing on Roth savings! Does dues & subs include tv streaming apps? We have YT tv and it’s a whopping $77/mo which is how much we use to pay for cable lol 🤦♀️ I need to call them.
We basically just have Disney+ and Hulu but it's part of our phone bill!
This might be a silly question- but where do your digital subscriptions go? Hulu, Disney +, Netflix, etc. Do you just not have any?? 😅
Under dues and subs. They pay for everything yearly.
We have that dues & subs line item for things like that! But Disney and hulu are part of our phone bill.
I never heard anyone in Phoenix have their AC on 70°😱 usually 74/75° is what most people keep their AC on otherwise get ready to pay a TON
We keep it at 74 during the day but the last hour during off peak time bring it down to 70 to “super cool” and don’t run A/C from 4-7pm where it gets to about 76 inside the house. Then at 7pm bring it down to 73.
Do you put diapers in your grocery budget? Or miscellaneous? When I had 2 under 2 I would go to Costco and spend $150 on two sizes of diapers and wipes.

I am surprised you don't keep your medical fun in the high-yield savings since you normally have time to pull it to pay a bill.
I don’t right now. Lol I’m paying for all my OB appointments out of pocket right now as they’re happening so have been spending nearly $500 a month so far in medical. Not much margin is saved of that each month right now. But about to hit my personal max out of pocket soon!
What here in Laveen Az I paid $54 in HOA in 2021 and now Its $64 I am not happy about that at all. You don't pay HOA
