I was there as a then 16 punk skater , Fucking loved it.....we all get old and look back and think ...wow that was Fucking awesome , the place went crazy when they played this !!!
I’d never heard anything live like that , plenty of dead Kennedy’s and circle jerks but these guys were live in our tiny ass town and they came back two more times !!
One of the best cover versions ever! Saw them at their reformation gig in '94 at the Camden Underworld - the gig had to stop for 5 minutes while the stage invasion cleared. Don't know where in Darlo this could be but it looks ropey!
Saw then at the Astoria 1+2 in about 1999-2000 but one of the funnyest ones was seeing them at the zero 6 near Southend Airport in 1998. Only about 10 people turned up but it was like they were playing in my livving room. Plenty of funny banter!! Best band and Best drummer!
they were a few times in the usa, i think the first time in 1990 and the last time was a few weeks ago, as they played at the fest 8 in gainesville FL. cheers
Sadly, Ritchie Cordell, who wrote "I Think We're Alone Now," co-wrote "Mony Mony" with James, and many of the Shondells hits, as well other bubblegum hits for groups such as 1910 Fruitgum Co. , and co-wrote "I Love Rock & Roll" for Jett, died a few years ago.
This would have been a natural for Joan Jett to cover, but she opted for one of The Shondells' other hits, "Crimson & Clover," instead. And right around the same time Tiffany recorded her Shondells cover, Billy Idol also had a hit with "Mony Mony." Idol is a consummate showman, did a bang-up job on that one.
Alright, first of all, this isn't a "Tiffany classic," but a bubblegum song originally a hit for Tommy James & The Shondells in 1967, 20 years before Tiffany recorded it, in fact four years before Tiffany was born (in 1971). The Shondells' version remains the definitive one.
And New Wave singer Lene Lovich did as well (including a Japanese version for a Stiff Records compilation), with some ear-piercing back-up, fade-out vocals that almost rival Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You" range. I think The Shondells' version remains the definitive, but Lovich's puts a more unique spin than any other covers--and I'm including The Rubinoos, whose I've also heard.
Also, Lene Lovich, a New Wave singer , recorded the song in 1978 for Stiff Records, does a much better interpretation than Tiffany (whose perfunctory vocals were enhanced by echo/re-verb, studio trickery); Lovich's own, naturally high-octave range in the back-up vocals lending a nice texture as that version fades out.

Just found out these guys are Brits. They sound straight outta California.
Is that because of the bubblegum pop cover or that Fat Wreck bands took a lot of the Snuff sound?
:)
@nollie84 ducan maybe
andy crighton died mate...R.I.P
@tommyvalentino SOUTH DOESNT COUNT AS USA
NEVER CAME TO THE USA
Less then jake/snuff/all 99 or 98
It's originally a Tommy James & the Shondells song so the fact Tiffany does it doesn't make it shite...it makes her version shite.
OI OI OI
the rubinoos did this before tiffanny
@tommyvalentino AND EVEN FOR SNUFF ID NOT GO THERE
