@@qislegit.donttrustthemedia6232 I did get one! But I had to be honest about how confident I was on that bike as my first. I'm a super noob rider. First time I ever been on a bike was at the msf. When I finally pulled the honda shadow phantom off the lot months after I felt very uneasy on that bike compared to the bike I rode at the msf. Msf bike was a more upright bike ( cant remember which one honestly) and when I got on this shadow the riding position made me feel like I couldn't control it as well as I should. So after that initial letdown I decided to change from that bike to a honda cb300r. I was way more confident handling that bike vs the shadow so that's what I have currently. As much as I wanted the phantom and loved its classic look, it didnt feel right for me. And in starting to think I may travel down that sport bike road for the future

I took a stock 2012 shadow phantom on a 1200 mile trip around the UP of Michigan. I really enjoyed the ride, but I can point out a few mods I would suggest for a long trip. 1: Highway bars. Although the bike isn't too small, my hips and knees did get a bit uncomfortable after a long time without a break. Being able to stretch out a bit would have helped. 2: Cruise control. Although not specific to the Shadow, my hand kept going numb from holding the throttle. 3: A windshield. When you're hitting speeds of 80mph and the temps are cool, a wind break would really help make the ride more comfortable. After I get these 3 mods, I'll definitely be taking my Shadow out for another long ride.

The "cc" wars is what has kept most motorcycle companies in business. If cars were marketed the same way you'd be told that you need a lifted, F150 if you plan on doing anything else than driving around the block. 500-900cc bikes can go all day around town and on the highways. Yes, if the only riding you do is multiple cross country trips then you might want a bigger bike to pack more stuff, otherwise, this 750 will get you where you need to be just fine. It's an ego thing more than anything else.

It doesn't feel like 44 HP, since it has zero issues getting my 300 lb butt up to 60 MPH.
Horsepower, from my understand, effects a bike more at high speeds than low speeds. It will get up to 60 MPH no problem, but it struggles a bit getting above 80 MPH. I think that's where the higher horsepower would make the difference, but since I don't really plan to ride it fast, I'm not too worried. I hear all this talk about 750's not being big enough and it makes me crazy. I had a Moto Guzzi 750 Ambassador late 60's early 70's model when I was in my mid 20's with faring/windshield, saddle bags, and a top box that I would load for road trips. I, my girl friend and all the tools and clothing for a trip. It seems mine had a four speed transmission (specs say 5 speed) I and my girl friend rode the Black Hills of South Dakota, rode to North Carolina and back to South Dakota and never ran out of power. Between me, my girl, travel necessities, and the bike the weight was probably around 1,000 lbs. Of course I did know how to use the transmission to it's full capacity. I do remember hitting the double digits when alone a couple of times. Now you know why it makes me crazy to hear people say a 750 isn't big enough. Thanks Srkcycles for the videos.

Two things it would not do that I didn't like was its difficult to pass a vehicle on two lane country roads. The other is its sluggish when carrying a passenger. I want a bike that gets to a decent speed fast, has the power when I need it but I'm not overly bothered by the top end speed over much. I like the way the new Electric bikes have immediate speed from the first twist and how they are then easy to cruise on with no gears just twist and go. Also how they last longer if you keep the speed down.
