Thanks a lot, Arun. Very informative video. I'm from Kerala who has settled down in Chennai. I would like to add something that you may not be aware of. Cattle avoid eating the leaves of the tapioca plant as its highly poisonous for them. Yet, they heartily eat the same leaves that are dried in the sun. They love it. And the dried leaves also increases milk yield.
@@FarmingEngineer, try this all time famous dish from Kerala. Wash, peel and chop the tapioca into small pieces. Place in a cooker. Add a little salt and turmeric. Pressure cook the tapioca for about 4-5 whistles. Take it out and mash it. And enjoy with fish curry! Anchovy or sardine curry are the most favoured. Try it out. You'll thank me.
Very interesting, never knew about this although we always eat cassava as favourite potato after boiling only. We also eat the cassava leaves as fresh greens.

Very good video. I saw your channel for the first time. Felt very good that someone is making such nice informative videos about our farming methods. You have represented our country’ s main occupation in a very respectable way.
Cassava or Tapioca ( Maravalli in tamil) is one food item which gives maximum yield in shortest period of time. That is the reason why it has been first brought to India by a Maharaja from Kerala for fighting famine. It is taken along with fish curry and an all time favorite food for malayalis. May be that is the reason why hardly any famine death reported in Kerala as it is grown in every house Beware it has poisonous cyanide if not prepared properly - one popular variety has intense amount. So many cattles die in Kerala by eating the leaves of cassava plant. So those varieties of cassava are eaten only after draining off couple of times and often sold as dried tapioca
Yes I know that bc my grandmother was from India, an came to Trinidad with my grandfather, an we could not let the goat or the cow eat the cassava leaves, they stop eating , they loose their cod, an cannot eat, that's how they die.
Until today, I'm totally not aware how this sabudana comes? Wether it's from plants or is it one kind of seeds? Many queries, your video cleared all my doubts. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful informative video Friend 🌹☺️💕👍💐

@FarmingEngineer, it breaks my heart to hear you and your ilk who say most of our favourite fruits and vegetables have come from abroad, which is a propaganda by the colonial oppressors and communists and such others which is lapped up by the regular janata who have no patience for research. By now I have lost patience to educate the so-called educated who make such imaginary claims and spread these nonfacts. Thousands of years ago, our literature and scriptures have clearly mentioned potatoes as "aalukaaha", which is why we call it "aalu' even today. Potato did not come from abroad, it went abroad from Bharat and as usual, we happily give credit to others and declare ourselves ignorant and foolish. We make similar claims about "hing" calling it foreign. Hing has been used in our cooking for thousands of years. The only reason we do not grow it in India is that the land of Afghanistan is very suitable for it's growth and Afghanistan was an integral part of India, so it was not foreign. That continued even after Afghanistan was separated from India. For those of you who want to argue about this, let me tell you it was a Hindu part of India itself. In Mahabharata, Dhritarashtra's wife was Gandhari who was from Afghanistan and the Gandhara school of arts is from there. That name is right in front of our eyes but we are blind to it. Because it is now called Kandahar. It is sad that the colonialists, Communists, Congress have all brainwashed us so much that we cannot understand our own selves any more. How successful they have been!! They've got to pat themselves on their backs. I am really tired listening to all this. PLEASE MY BROTHER, RESEARCH INDIA'S TRUE HISTORY AND STOP SPREADING THESE UNTRUTHS WHICH YOU ARE DOING UNKNOWINGLY. Otherwise, your video was excellent. Thank you.
