When I first heard Rise, I was 19 years old watching General Hospital with my mother, a soap opera on channel 7 here in Detroit. My mother loved the music, so when we found out what it was and who made it, I was a member with Columbia House Record and Tape Club. I ordered 2 copies, one for her and one for me! My mother passed away in 2018 at the age of 93! And I still have BOTH copies on vinyl with no scratches or dings of any kind on either of them! The Albums still sound brand new after all of these years!!! Beautiful, Beautiful Music 🎵🎶!!! I miss my mother, but just like the music, she lives inside my heart and soul!!!❤
I remember when the album was released in late '79 early '80. my late Dad's mom had just passed in January of 1980 and I played the album to death no pun intended. This reminds me of my life back then as my parents were going through a bad divorce. Life was shocking oftentimes yet heartbreaking in the same token.... Life as a 7 year old.. Rollerskating constantly back in the day😥😥😥😥🙏🙏❤❤
@@worldpeace666now Thank you, SacredEarth! You're so right! I learned years ago that when you keep those you love 💕 in your heart, they will live forever ♾️ in your Memories and your Spirit!!! People used to say that I was like a "Mama's Boy," but that was okay because my mother took me everywhere with her! I didn't have the best relationship with my father, but he did the best that he knew how to do. It, I think, was how Racism, WWII and his addiction to Alcohol affected his life that caused many problems between us! As I grew older, having the light complexion that my father had and all that I've learned, now I see why I became the Man that I have become! I spent more time with my Mother than anyone of my family members growing up! Then it was my Brother too! But he passed away in 2012. He was only 7 years older than I. I would do anything for my mom! God created a Beautiful Black Women when HE CREATED HER! I never got it twisted though, like some people today! My Mother was/is my mother, but not My Friend!!! That's the Respect she deserved AND that's the Respect I gave her! The things that we did or do with our friends, are not always what we do with our parents! And I say this because during the early 1980's; '82-'85, an ex girlfriend used to smoke marijuana with her Mother and Brother! I could NEVER do anything like that around My Parents! To me, that was one of the craziest things I ever saw! I just wasn't raised that way!!! I loved My Mother! I still do!!! Always Will!!! She Is Always In My Soul And Spirit!!! ✌️🙏
My mother LOVED this record ! - Jung said there are no coincidences - man-o-man, i was thinking about her today - found this record (the original with this picture on the album) in my basement - put it on the record player - and bam - i was back in the 1960s watching her dance around the living room to it - she's been gone since 1971 - this one's for YOU Mom. Thanks for putting this on the internet.
An excellent Tribute-Comment no doubt. My mother passed on in late November, 2017 around the final Saturday. She, along with my father had me into Classic Rock AND the least bit of Disco music. Herb Alpert songs like these are absolutely Proto-Disco. She really liked ELO- never even caring that even ELO also had made one or two forays of Disco songs.
This was from a 1965 photo shoot Herb done for his South Of The Border LP and was also used for his What Now My Love LP cover. That is Tina Moss wife of A&M co-founder Jerry Moss.
@@juanmunoz2 Muchas gracias ☺️ Thank you very much, for this background info. Learned something again. Tina Moss. What a wonderful woman 👩. Alpert & Moss = A&M Records. I know. OK 👍 Herb with Tina here in the shot. I guess my question remains unanswered, still. What were the next steps after this shot? I think, they both and all behind the scenes had a lot of fun. Stay safe, cheers 🍻 from Bavaria

@@carfarts Thank goodness, you had Rollerskating to deal with your pain as a 7 yr old. May peace be with you.
May you forever...have those wonderful memories of your dear mother, she's still around you in spirit.
