I might want to become a physical therapist in the future, but for now I'm working on becoming a physical therapist assistant. I already have an interview for a physical therapy assistant program later this month!
I literally just started 8th grade and this is where I find myself on a school night at 1:23 am. I’m just thinking about what I wanna be when I’m older
@‘95 damm u might be dealing with a lot of addictions ^ sucks for you mate a healthy lifestyle and responsible brings a bright look to your life, I truly feel sorry for u If you went throughout all of that...
I injured my low back causing a l5 s1 to hit my nerves; however, I got healed thanks to physical therapist and chiropractors. I was amazed how physical therapists help people get back to their normal lives. I want to pursue a career in that field but I don’t know how? Do I have to attend a 4 year college or are there specific schools??
I'm graduating in May and also chasing my PT dream. I have been told It's 7 years in total. 4 years in college either 2 in community and 2 university or 4 in university. After that you go to PT school for 3 years. I wish you luck on your PT dream 😊😊
I do agree that DPTs are underpaid. I don’t believe that 150k should be the minimum but if you look at other health professions that require a doctorate like pharmacists, dentist, etc. they are head and shoulders above PTs in salary. So I think the average salary should at be 100k regardless of location especially for the amount of schooling you do and the student debt you’re likely to accumulate
In my country it's a five year degree and one year training we also get to open our own clinics and be official doctors it's mainly all about the study it's self
I love being pt because its satisfying job, especially in stroke rehabilition..but i hate being pt too because other people call us nurse, do massage..hmmm
I work as personal trainer i made over 75k year. I was thinking to go to school for pt but 7 years school and to make same as am making now, not sure if it worth it
In Philippines only around $3000 :) there are less than 800 board passers. PTs here need supervising doctors. I'm not sure if DPT is common but i dont think so. A number of graduates go abroad to work because if this horrible working situation.
I would love to be on that path on becoming a physical therapist. I’m a sophomore in high school, I have a lot of time before I can get a job like this. But I’m also transgender and pretty public and open about it. I don’t know any trans people with that kind of job. I hope they don’t discriminate over people like me and base me off my job experiences, college degrees, personality, more of the positive side of me.
just asking this out of curiosity so please dont judge....in india the PT usually uses "Dr." prefix.... was just curious whether it is same in other countries
7 years for a DPT is not worth that low starting salary, even later on you still will not make doctor MD money, regardless you have a doctorate. Put 1 more year in and go to medical school for all that time. Doctors make triple the amount a PT makes.
I think her pay is low because she doesn't have experience, she's 26 with a PhD. I think immediately after her degree she did her masters then PhD she didn't work.
That's crazy low! I know road patrol officers making a minimum of 90k a year. Sgts and up are making 100k at minimum. She should find another employer or move to another state.

Not sure where she works but median salary for a PT is around $85,000. Average starting pay is around $65-70,000
I agree, I'm a PT and even new graduates make way more than she quoted
You can make $90,000 a year testing web software...most RNs make more than a physical therapist, even with a DPT.

I feel like physical therapist are underpaid. Physical therapist should earn at least 150K minimum.
Why?
AllAmericanGuy01 because its a licensed position that requires a PH.D these days 🤷♂️

They should but not even close. Pay is decreasing, time for patients decreasing and productivity requirements are rising.

Depends on your state
SupremeMystique that’s why it depends on the State. Trust me being a native NY cost of living is very high and has not plans on decreasing
@@zhanazhana1001 is that 80k for a pt straight out of school?
Julian Riezgo average is 66k-67k I believe for NY. But it depends on location, where you wish to be placed etc
