  • On Friday, May 10th, 2024, myself, a friend and his sweet dog drove to Algonquin Park for two nights a front country camping on Tea Lake. Our goal was to hike as many of the 15 day hikes found along Algonquins’s Highway 60 Corridor as possible. We hiked seven: Track and Tower, Hardwood Lookout, Centennial Ridges, Hemlock Bluff, Bat Lake, Peck Lake and Whiskey Rapids. This made a total of 31.6 KMS of the total 59.4 KMS of trail (or 53%). As well, of course, I brought along my Alpacka pack raft and enjoyed a glorious Saturday morning paddle at the crack of dawn, among many other fun moments.
    Come along for adventure number seven of eight as I count down to my big summer adventures in Europe. That’s right… not just one but TWO big adventures over the pond this summer! 🥰🥾🥾✌🏼
    The recipe for the chickpea hash that I make in this video can be found here:

    Lots of nice trail choices this weekend. Early morning mist on the water, followed by the beautiful sunrise, is great way to start the day. Thanks for filming it.

      It is! I am so thankful to have it within driving distance of my big city life here in Toronto. I can’t wait to spend more time there over the next few weekends before leaving for my two big summer adventures in Europe. I hope you’ll stay tuned for all of it! Thanks for watching and have a wonderful weekend! 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

      Right!? And there is never-ending discovery to be done here. Although I’m quite familiar now with the three backpacking trails available in Algonquin Park, the paddle-in sights offer a whole new world of new land and new sites for me. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, as always, Linda. Have yourself a fantastic weekend! 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

    Hey lady. Just wanted to let you know that I completed my first solo camping trip this week (inspired by you and some others)!!! It was amazeballs. I stayed at criagleith, not my favourite provincial park, but it’s close to the blue mountain section of the BT which I was hiking. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for the inspiration. 🙌🏻💕

      Wow, that is amazing news! Good for you! You have absolutely made my day! Thank you so much for sharing. How did you enjoy it? I love the silence and the bird song and the solitude of being out in the woods alone, even for a front country camp in a provincial park such as Craigleith, where I have also camped before. Did you enjoy it? Do you think you’ll do it again? I read somewhere recently someone saying that it’s kind of funny that we call it roughing it when it’s actually the thing that smooths out all the friction and frenetic energy from a week in the city. Bravo, woman! Thank you for sharing and I hope you continue to share in the future. Have a great weekend! 🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌🏼

    Nice. I prefer doing the back country thing but the day trails are fun to hike too. Centennial Ridges is my favourite hike in the park actually, those views are just incredible.
    That is impressive doing those three trails a day, Track & Tower and Centennial Ridges are both pretty stiff hikes😮

    • @Womaninthewoods13
      @Womaninthewoods13  19 днів тому +1

      I agree that Centennial Ridges is the best of the 15 day hikes along the Highway 60 Corridor. However… have you ever done the Barron Canyon Trail in the eastern section of Algonkin Park? It’s only 1.5 km but the views are stunning. I had made a video of it a couple of years ago and accidentally deleted it before publishing it. I was crushed! Anyhoo, thanks for commenting, Kelley, and have a fantastic weekend! 🥰🙏🏼✌🏼

      @@Womaninthewoods13 No haven’t hiked Barron. Don’t really get into the eastern part of the park very often. I’ve heard that it’s a nice hike and the pics I’ve seen from there look great. I’ll have to check it out some time 🙂✌🏻

    It use to be beautiful but now I swear people just love to ruin pristine places just to party like rock stars for one night n trash the camp for no good reason.

      Hiya, Farmer Joe! Yes, there will always be a few bad apples in the bushel. However, we found next-to-zero garbage on our site and on our hikes. I spend almost every weekend in Algonquin Park and finding next-to-no garbage is the norm there. I think the kind of behaviour you’re talking about happens more on Crown Land where there are no witnesses to such shameful behavior. Algonquin Park is still beautiful, sir. Worry not. Have a wonderful weekend.🥰✌🏼
