Why are scooters prohibited on the levee? If you allow e-bikes on there, wouldn't scooters fall into roughly the same category of electrified/motorized vehicle?

@@pdsnpsnldlqnop3330 No, you don't. Class 2 is pedal assist AND throttle with 20 mph max speed.

Currently, there are no speed classes set for scooters. Although many commuter scooters travel 15-18 mph max, there are dual motor scooters capable of speeds in excess or 40 mph. Until this gets sorted out between manufacturers and legalities, bicyclists could be mixed with very high speed scooters.

Thank you for watching Foster City's rules of the road for e-bikes video and we appreciate your question regarding the use of electric scooters. It's stated in Foster City's Municipal Code that it is unlawful for any person operating a motorized scooter, as defined by the California Vehicle Code, to operate the scooter on any levee bike path. (Ord. 510 § 1, 2003).

@@jeffb9844 I understand that you are saying vehicles of different speed capabilities should be separated. But isn't that already a problem between pedestrians (2-3 mph) and bicyclists (12-20 mph). Isn't the speed limit of 15 mph on the levee applicable to scooters as well? (Theoretically, if scooters were allowed.)
