The story should be like a Gintama or Yakuza-like comedy. I mean, cutscenes centered around Waluigi are usually so wacky. It would be fun to explore !

He did trend on Twitter in Japan at one point during Smash Ultimate Speculation days but,then again that was probably the only time that ever happened,so you’re likely right. Unless he’s slowly getting more popular there after that happened,albeit..SLOWLY like i said but still.

I like the idea of a story driven waluigi game but I think he’s best off as a flat character with a simpler concept than changing the perception of good and evil. Or if this is the direction it could be a great idea if that’s how the game starts, but Waluigi finds he needs to change the world back. He’s not a bad guy, but he cheats for his goals, so he can cheat justifiably against a world that is “bad/evil” I loved the presentation of the video! Great visuals ❤️

A few flaws here and there but overall I love your idea for a Waluigi game, if Nintendo doesn't do something like that (which they won't, they're fools) then someone else who is capable of doing so should make a fan game... part of me wants to learn how to easily make video games and making a Waluigi fan game would be cool to do...
I personally had an idea for a Waluigi game that had Waluigi as the main hero and Wario as the main victim... the short story is... Fawful returns revealing he actually managed to survive the events "Mario & Luigi : Bowser's inside story" Waluigi wakes up one day noticing the world seems to be different, Wario isn't home and Waluigi goes to the mushroom kingdom seeing absolutely nobody, eventually Luigi (who in the game is Waluigi's sidekick) tries to warn him whilst hiding with some Toads... Waluigi refuses to listen to Luigi, forcing Luigi to come out into the open and confront Waluigi, Luigi is then grabbed by some hypnotised Toads who appear to be evil, which is odd, Waluigi defeats them and learns from Luigi what is going on, Fawful is corrupting the whole world by abducting people and one by one hypnotising them to follow his command and join his army as well as the robots he already has, Where is Mario and Wario? Like many others including Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong and Rosalina...
Mario and Wario are "corrupted" by Fawful, and they are both the final boss before the true final boss which is Fawful himself!
Gameplay would be based on the levels and boss/mini boss battles in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's "Subspace Emissary" story, with animated cutscenes between each level and/or fight

I'd rather Waluigi be in a mainline Mario game like Wonder or Mario and Luigi (with Wario and Waluigi duo) first. Like someone said, he COULD get into the next Smash if enough fans demand it, and THEN we could maybe see a resurgence for our purple guy? July 2025 will be his 25th anniversary, so I REALLY hope Nintendo acknowledges this!
People desire Waluigi as he is one of the only Mario characters not given much recognition. He has been around since 2000, yet he has never had own game or a major role in a mainline Mario game.

Here's my thoughts;
I think back to the whole Morbius fiasco (just follow me). Sony was essentially duped into losing even more money on that film by releasing it a second time thinking that the memes would equal money. I would think a big factor in why Nintendo hasn't pulled the trigger on a Waluigi game is that they wouldn't want to repeat that mistake. Memes aren't automatic money printers.
Then factor in the fact that Waluigi isn't that popular in Japan (Nintendo's main priority), Waluigi being a villain-protagonist being a hard sell to a risk-averse Nintendo, and probably some unknown details of the agreement between Nintendo and Camelot have with each other, and we a near zero sum we'd see anything soon. I would say a big sign that the ice is beginning to thaw is if Waluigi starts showing up in either mainline Mario or Wario games. Even better if he shows up as a playable or major character. Though it's a huge shame this would be happening after Charles Martinet retired.
I genuinely want to see him get a W eventually. I've been rooting for him since his debut. But I'm not holding my breath it will happen any time soon. :c
However, if we were to get a Waluigi game (or a game where he has a major role) there's a few hallmarks I hope are accomplished;
1. Further distinguishing him from Luigi and especially Wario. Getting Waluigi out of Wario's shadow and and allowing him to function on his own would be crucial to making him more likeable. Both of them are shown to be greedy, but unlike Wario who wants money for the sake of having it, I think Waluigi wants money to make himself more appealing to others. He wants to be loved and respected. Roll with that
2. Character development. Yeah, Nintendo is allergic to that nowadays, but Bowser ended up with Bowser Jr. which showed that in spite of being a villain, he can be loving. It doesn't need to be drastic like adding a new character. Could be something as simple as being able to show empathy to people he sees as being worse off than he is (for example) or emphasizing his diligent nature. In a couple of games (I want to say the Olympics series), he's shown to be laid back and willing to give honest advice when he's not competing.
3. Using a gimmick that isn't sports or Mario Party related. We know that Waluigi likes construction, dance, and plants. Perhaps a platformer where Waluigi's abilities come from or are inspired by different styles of dance with heavy emphasis on the music? It's not too off the wall since he was an antagonist in the DDR game, but it's something that can be really built on. So long as there's a clear separation from the spin-offs, I'd be happy.
Those are just my thoughts though...
I appreciate this well-thought out comment! You make some good points that I definitely agree with. He needs to gain more of a unique identity to set him apart, and he could have some really stellar abilities if a game were to happen. It's still fun to imagine what a game would look like in theory!

I believe him to be a kick guy. Wario is toughness and slow, Waluigi must be flexibilty and movement.
Wario can lift and throw,maybe Waluigi has a soccer mechanic. A kick to repel/throw, a stomp to strikr and press button,instead of needing a buttstomp.

Like you said. Nintendo doesn't want to buy the rights to Waluigi. They're to lazy and idealistic. They're rather concerned with Peach , Bowser , Mario , Yoshi because Nintendo favors them. A Waluigi game would have made Nintendo head to a realistic direction.

Mario was made to FILL THE SPACE of Popeye as a Protagonist for Donkey Kong since they couldn’t get licensing to Popeye Characters,Luigi was made a mere “Player Two” for Mario Bros or Super Mario Bros at the time and was ONLY a Palette Swap of MARIO..But nowadays He sports His own unique look..EVEN WARIO AND DAISY TECHNICALLY COULD BE THROWN INTO THIS. Wario being made for more or LESS a similar reason,To FILL A SPACE as one of Mario’s many Rivals. And DAISY only being made because the story of Super Mario Land took place AWAY from the Mushroom Kingdom,so She was made to fill Peach’s Space as the usual “Damsel in Distress” role. If they could bounce back from their not-so-crazy origins,So could Waluigi. and at least in terms of His Role in the Mario Universe,He’s been used for a LOT more then just Mario Tennis. Hell,He was even the Main Initiator of the Plot for Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix and was advertised as the Villain. Although this WASN’T the case and I wish they kept Him as a Main Antagonist rather than just a One World Boss,They STILL were able to give him SOME kind of Major Role there.
