Any fans of Level 1? I think the combo of synth piano and fretless bass is amazing, and the chromatics in the bassline in the later part just kills it.

I’m glad this was captured when it was, you can hear the disc rot starting to take hold in the background of a few tracks, leave it much longer and the disc won’t play.
@Takeshi357 hes talking about a very real process all discs will eventually go through called disc rot where the actual CD, DVD, any form of lamediread disc media just starts to rot and deteriorate beyond saving

i wonder what software these tracks were originally composed in cause i would LOVE to find the guitar sample used in level 3; sonic cd used a lot of that one
I’ve got my money on disc rot, judging by the era it was recorded and likely stored, this was digitally recorded and the master was burned to a disc. The chemicals that make up the layers of a disc have a habit of degrading over time, in the early stages it can appear as a light discolouration and occasionally perceptible audio distortion, often mimicking “peaking” audio or a rapid, repetitive static pulse. Usually tape degradation presents itself audibly through slippage, where often the high end of the gets distorted along with an audible squeal from the cassette, where the capstan begins to lose grip of the tape in the mechanism under the force of the pickup reel. You can also hear stuff like increased hiss, loss or reduction in the quality of the top end of the recording, repetitive drops in quality usually caused by storage being partially in range of a strong magnetic field, or tape stretch, where repeat use of the tape can physically stretch the length of the tape, causing a longer runtime and slower playback.
Definately sounds to me like it was stored as digital audio, given the low noise floor and lack of wow/flutter. Does make me wonder if it'd be possible to filter out the sounds with a DAW.@@retro_wizard

@@westdakotaofficial7940 the names on SoundCloud are the names I gave them. The names you see on other sites are names that were given them by whoever is marketing the tracks without my knowledge or permission. Those were ripped off of the cdi Tetris game. You can tell that they are a ripped copy because they are looped tracks around 4 minutes long. The original tracks on SoundCloud are half that length, because that was the length of the tracks I wrote; they were looped byPhillips POV for the game.
Finally we can hear to a high quality version of this soundtrack.

Level 0 sounds too low-pitched and slow compared to the version in game - are you sure it was supposed to be sampled at 44.1kHz, or was it 48 kHz?
The audio was digitized into higher quality, so some tracks were pitched differently in the prototype.
Not sure if it’s just me, but I think the pitch just sounds off for Levels 0 & 1 for example.
