I remember my application for Australia visa back in 70s. Took me 18 months and I decided to get permanent residency ( it was available then) as I did not want to have to come back to UK if I liked it. Luckily as a nurse from a London teaching hospital, I was in demand, I was also lucky enough to be offered a years work in Melbourne and the hospital paid my airfare, so I'm not even a ten pound pome 😆. I had a visa in my passport that said I could stay and work in Australia for as long as I liked, so long as I did not leave Australia for more than 2 years... that means if I went home and stayed there for 2 years my visa was null and void. I also had several interviews at Australia House on the strand that included a very interesting medical examination 🤔. Never regretted my decision. I wish we had had these helpful videos when I came over. Keep up the great work.
Great videos guys, glad you enjoyed the lifestyle after the big move. Now for Aussie citizenship, I (Aussie born) moved from Adelaide to Christchurch NZ 5 years ago and never looked back. My partner and I don't like heat and she wasn't moving to Oz so.... Was amazed at one comment (not sure which video) where someone said they chose NZ but it was unfriendly so moved to Oz. Nothing wrong with NZ, or Oz, you need to meet people halfway, takes time but it's worth it. Keep up the good work and the great life in Qld.
My dad is from Australia and my aunt still lives in Australia, I would love to be able to visit them more + I'm falling in love with Australia as a country
Dear wonderful Bam family...just back from a superb holiday to Noosa...Brisbane...Surfers...Byron Bay and Sydney... Especially amazing is the beautiful hinterland/countryside from Byron etc. that I am sure you now enjoy...lol from Jerusalem...p.s. have been around the world a few times...can assure that Aussies are the Nicest and most Helpful people on the planet...
Hi guys, as usual, another great video! Empty promises-right away booked a holiday to Australia-that was funny, made me chuckle! I remember the jetlag from Canada to Australia was a bit brutal the first couple of days. The first day, my friend and I were in the shops and I said I have to buy such and such, walked over to that aisle, and when I got there I couldn't remember what I said I had to get, and so couldn't my friend. So back and forth to the different aisles quite a few times until everything that was needed was finally gotten. If anyone was watching, it must of looked a hilarious sight.(: The jetlag didn't affect my mood, it was the fatigue and memory retention. Kinda funny when you think about it.(: Coming back to Canada the jetlag was far worse, the exhaustion was sooo bad....Still worth going to Australia, though!!!!(: (: I so get you're not wanting to wait, when I'm ready to do something or go somewhere, I just want to do it and get there!
Ohh Maz! I love that you & I have the same passion for H&A. We only have a week left of Neighbours here in the UK, I'm so glad we get to keep H&A though, I still get to drool over the surf dudes 🏄♂️ 😉
Hi.Maz and Ben, we're new to your videos and they're really helping us to weigh up our options in emigrating to Oz. Im interested to know how you chose the suburb that you live in? We're hoping to have a reccy later this year but looking at suburbs feels a bit obscure when you're not there to see and 'feel' what the area is like. Obviously were looking at schools, jobs, houses in our considerations but its such a big decision to decide where you're going to live before you even apply for visas etc (awaiting on my skills assessment) thanks for any advice you can offer and you're fab videos! All the best guys. Natalie x
This was really interesting i am currently back in education alongside work to retrain to be eligible for a visa and i can totally relate to when you said about having to waffle on rather than get to the point, im finding that so frustrating and difficult so I'll definitely try your glass of wine technique 🤣
hi guys. Great content. did you have previous experience in the hospitality sector? I am not on the skills list and I'm 42. retraining for something is very daunting
@@terryomalley1974 I totally agree with you Terry Canada is a great and it shares the same values as Australia but if you’re looking for a country where you can be outdoors for the whole year you really can’t go past Australia it is really a warmer version of Canada
Jet lag differs based on the direction of travel because it's generally easier to delay your internal clock than advance it. Jet lag does not occur on north-south flights that do not cross multiple time zones.
I really like watching your videos, really informative and honest. I was wondering what do you do for living in Australia? I'm a registered nurse in the UK
Hi both Just started witching a few of your vids and am enjoying them. I haven't seen all though so one thing I would like to ask is what are you both doing for a living over there? Thanks
Thank you for sharing this great video of how you both moved to Australia from the UK. It has always been my dream to move to Australia. I wanted to ask which qualification did you study for Maz that allowed you to move to Australia? 😃
Hey, thank you both for sharing all these helpful information. I am 34 this year and I'm planning to move to Perth with my wife and 2 daughters (5 & 2). Just wondering when you said further studies, can I know what course did you study for ? And did you study back in UK or in Australia ?
Hi, great video - we are visiting family in the Sunshine Coast and want to explore the option of moving to Australia (I am a mortgage broker so am on a skilled occupational list) - can you recommend a good emigration agent?
You guys should've known, the wife always gets her way. Too bad, Ben, I'm sure you would've been just as happy, maybe even happier, if you'd been able to convince Maz to settle in the Great White North. 🇨🇦 🍁

I agree. Jetlag travelling west is no problem. Travelling east is a b.... My only tip is to force yourself into the "new" timezone ASAP.
I've been to Canada, it was nice and everyone was friendly, but I can confirm Maz made the right choice with Australia!
So glad you guys are here to experience all we have. The subs have certainly accepted you. All the best.
Thanks mate 😁🥰
We are lucky to have you
Aww thank you 🥰🥰

Like you say it's still worth going - you just have to go for longer!! 😁
Found this vid very insightful! Very encouraging to see that the process does take time and that the wait is worth it! Very well made!

Hey Natalie, it really is tricky to do from another country, we did a video on it a while back 👉🏼 ua-cam.com/video/lHFIu_-P6Ik/v-deo.html
This is such a well put together video, loved watching it
A very long process to emigrate to Australia wow. I’m glad the visas finally came. Imagine if you were still in the UK!
We were lucky when we moved, it takes a lot longer now 😬xx
Great video! I'm waiting on my visa to come through. Its like being in no man's land until I get down under to start my new life.
Oh we remember that feeling, it was unsettling. We hope you have a speedy visa grant 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Same with me regarding the jet lag. Australia to the UK seems easy; UK to Australia seems really hard with the jet lag.
I’m done by 4pm every arvo for the first week in Oz - I can’t keep my eyes open 😆

hi glad it all went well how did you go about the accommodation was it easy to find furnished accommodation till you sorted out your own funiture.
Another great content guys. Is there any chance you still have contacts to this amazing migration officer? We are on a hunt for one.
It was Emergico in Brisbane x

How were the girls with immigration idea and what did you have to study ?
Lily was excited and embraces the adventure, the younger two were too little to understand. The qualification was a management diploma 😊

I wonder how you feel that England reach 40c and yet here in Australia that's mean nothing
We feel bad that they don’t have aircon! 🔥
What was bad about Canada? 🥺
I couldn't cope with it getting colder than England - that was the only reason! It's a beautiful country ❤️
