#JeanMichelJarre #Zoolook
__________________________________________________________________________________
After Oxygene, Equinoxe, and Magnetic Fields, I was *not* prepared for just how different the Zoolook album was. It remains an amazingly unique release.
Just totally amazing tune
This proves JMJ's genius. I wasn't 'ready' for Zoolook for quite some time, but now I think, its' sits at the top!
While he previously used mostly analog sound generation, Zoolok was 100% based on sampling technology, so everything is a sample consisting of speech or other sounds.
Fun fact: The video was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who later became famous for movies like DELICATESSEN, THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN and of course AMELIE.
This man invented a new wave of retro futurism
Bien verte por aquí Luis !!!!!!
The bass line was the best part of this tune. I was 14 years old when I heard this album, and although I was a traditional synth-loving fan of Jean-Michel Jarre’s music going back to Oxygene, the bass part blew my mind completely.
Marcus Miller
@@kutzak236 Who else ? :)
I used to dance around the room. My dad probably thought I was bonkers.
The amount of programming on the vocal samples alone is staggering. He’s not known as a master for nothing.
@@thatscousedudeHe sait it was his most difficult recording. The amount of vocal samples is astounding...
I remember finding Zoolook on tape with all my dads other tapes and listening to it in my car and being like "What the hell is this, I hate this". Then I kept listening to it and now I absolutly love JMJ. As most other things in life, you won't love something at first, you have to think deeper about it and really give it a chance and then you'll love it!!!
hmmmm ..... interesting
After looking for this song for a long time, 2021, I just found out, Jean Michel Zoolook, remembering the past after a long time, breakdancing was amazing, my childhood in Jakarta, Indonesia, for those who listen to this song may be my age, healthy for you, do the best during your life
When he, who can do Windmill, was a neighborhood's Hero.
Wow! I never thought Zoolook was quite popular in breakdancing in Indonesia. I'm Indonesian but back then I never heard about him until firstly I heard The Emigrant from his another album (Revolutions) through its usage in opening of an old Russian TV show
this song get his booming in Indonesian at mid 80's, usually used for street breakdance (with boombox) and discotique dance floor breakdance performance, omg and we getting older now hahaha
Sering ke Tanamur ya om
Inget breakdance an di depan Dairy Queen Melawai.. good old time
Jadi nostalgia, booming pada masa nya 😂
Happy 40th Birthday " ZOOLOOK " 1984
A work of genius.
HELL YEAH BROTHER!
definitely one of his most trippy albums
I haven't heard this for more than 30 years!!
Last saw this on BBC going live childrens TV. Could never remember the artist or the name of this fab record until now.
I was 10 years old when I heard your music for the first time,1978. and for 46 years now I love you the most in the world.
Really? But this song release in 84
@@antonovsadowski1135 I think Oxigen,no Zoolook,i say Your music,no this album
This was one of the first albums I got to listen to on my Walkman, on cassette. Was about the time I just started smoking weed too so I got a lot out of it. Great to see this clip again
999😊
This album is full of sick bass lines.
He actually used his Fairlight sample
@@oholm09 Nope, he actually hired a bassist in this album (Marcus Miller, to be exact).
@@netako and that too
@@netakospot on Marcus is a legend in his own right
The whole "Zoolook" album is great! I dig the Fairlight CMI and Linndrum instrumentation in this.
I totally agree 100%. Only the best, JMJ included of course, even had access to the ridiculously expensive synth powerhouse and sampler that the Fairlight was. Throw in the first programmable drum machine that actually sounded like real drums into the capable hands of a legend like JMJ and you have the perfect recipe for an album that will withstand the test of time. Sorry, I kinda nerded out a little bit with the synth talk
Its E-MU Emulator as far as remember.
or both :)
I loved how weird the sounds were.
I remember this being on the Max Headroom show back in the 80's.
I first came across this genius in 1987, on a TV special broadcast worldwide on 12/31/87. I went after all of this brilliant artist's albums. I came across this musical masterpiece, and 40 years later, it is still relevant. I listened to it in the early hours of the morning on a Sony Walkman, or while driving at 100 km/h on a deserted road with the roof down.
OMG, I loved this music video when I was a kid, because of the music and the robots and all the weirdness, I watched it a lot!
I didn't know how this was called, and I waited like 20 years to be able to finally retrieve the name from an old VHS tape!
I'm so happy to be able to hear and watch this again!!
Sergi Medina I know that feeling. In my case the song (not this one) was a demo of my very first Casio toy keyboard. It took me like 15 years to discover how the real name it was: Wham!'s Wake me up before you go-go
Don't you worry and we all are like that! I too had to take a long time, to track down favorite songs of mine, simply because I didn't knew their titles or because I used to mixed them up, with other artists! Yesterday for example, I have discovered that a favorite song of mine, was not of ENIGMA as I mistakenly thought it was, but of DEEPFOREST! That song was first released in 1992, and only yesterday, I've discover it! After 24 whole years! Imagine that!
The same thing happened to me when I was 4 years old and I never knew the name of this spectacular subject, but until 2011 I got to know the name of this subject thanks to my father, I'm 16 years old and now I became a big fan of Jean-Michel Jarre, many young people of my age listen Reggeton in my case I hate it, Jarre will always be my idol :,)
You put a smile in my face mate :) I also was a big fan of Jarre when I was your age, back in the 80s, it's 2017 and I keep listening all his records... good to see new generations keep the flame alive!
FanJarre you are one of my favourite channels and only 17? Cheers from a Spanish 18-yo! My father introduced me to Jean-Michel as well.
Comeback to old pas.. incredible experience...ITS so so good moments...
I was introduced to Jean-Michel Jarre and Andreas Vollenwieder in 85. Two exceptional composers, musicians and performers.
Very VERY great music in all time !
Way ahead of its time!
The legend of sounds. Master of music
Zoolook was the 1st album I ever bought on CD back in the day. (I already had it on vinyl but thought it would be the perfect album to test the new digital future :)
Break dance the best zoolook 👍
Płyta jest fenomenem, ostatni raz słuchałem jej w 1992.
Breakdance song, when I was in elementary school.. This song was a big hit in Indonesia

The master of all sounds... in your ears!
02:46 - one of the freakyest braks in history! Love that base with those screams in the background! Jean You are my Master! :D
I FEEL 30 YEARS YOUNGER NOW
Wow! Saya tidak menyangka Zoolook dulu populer di Indonesia tahun 80-an. Bahkan TPI dulu pernah pakai lagu JMJ juga tapi beda, buat salah satu intronya. Judulnya Industrial Revolutions Part I: ua-cam.com/video/vfDskmnVpYU/v-deo.htmlsi=r0yKnpdvC2sxjZ4W
This music is techno in nature yet melodious. Regards from Jakarta Ind.

#1... BREAK DANCE FEVER 1984 🤸🤸🤸
Heard a lot when I was like Kindergarten student. But I just watched the music video now after years. Time flies. What a distinctive music in its era.
Had no idea this existed; listened to the music since it was new.
Very different from what I would have imagined, but quite brilliant, no doubt.
Same. Don't think I had this album, but Oxygène and Magnetic Fields (the international version of Les Chants Magnetiques, since I'm in Sweden) and I completely missed this and just found it now after reading that Jeunet & Caro made it (rewatched Amélie / Le Fabuleuse Destin d'Amélie Poulain for its 20th anniversary and took a dive down Wikipedia).
Though of course I also remember this track from the very creative 16-bit (Amiga / Atari ST) game Captain Blood.
JMJ - Oxygenius Electronic Music ! Greets From Poland ;-)
Gegara buku lupus cinta olimpiade, penasaran langsung nyari lagunya, eh nemu, dan bener aja lagu ini cocok buat lupus yg lagi asyik jaipongan gila gilaan👏👏

Excellent track from a superb album, thanks JMJ !!
Havent heard that for over 30 years and nostalgy forced me to comment... fantastic beat. Feel 30 years younger!
Mestre.
2.46 Just me thinking of driving a Citroen GSA, by afternoon rush in the suburbs of Paris, during november greyness some year in the 80´s while listening to this song? :)

I remember this from many years ago, I was still young ... and I loved it. I like the music of Jean-Michel Jarre, but I did not know this piece was his. Now I've discovered it accidentally after so many years, and I'm very happy ... he brought me back to youth.
This song had massive impact on me, till today. It has become part of my DNA.
I love this album and I still listen to it when I am working. 👍😎🎵🎶
Oh, the CMI was something I lusted after and could never afford. I do, however, have the brochure!
Tuerie electro, mon père écoutait ça quand j'étais ado, ça a laissé des traces.
Happy birthday monseur Jarre.
:-) JMJ at his best...
I watch this pretty much everyday. Such a good music video.
the best album !!!
It takes me back when i was in junior high school . I always played this song whenever i can listened a song .... bring back all my memories😎
This is for Erik Holm from Gothenburg Sweden. Thanks for turning me on to his music when I was In high School in Brandon SD. I still listen to him and watch his concerts too. Once again thanks man. Hope you are doing ok during this virus thing. I hope you and your family are doing well.
How mind blowing to realize that this piece came from the 80's.
Waaay ahead of his time! Introduced this to a sml Aussie country town back in 85-86 ,thanks to my older brother( we emigrated from Denmark to Australia in 81, I was 11) thank you big brother for all the cool music
2020 .. Still awesome..
Video klip musik yang luar biasa. Keren! 👍
my favorite jarre album...zoolook and zoolookologie
Wow…This music is the background sound of my favorite radio show, the "komik serem" show on SK radio in Indonesia aroud 90’s… what a memory
Master Piece! Capo Lavoro! Obra Maestra! ENCORE!
Never old music
Zoolook and Orient Express, both Jems that seem to be overlooked. Wish he would play these live. They've always been in my favourite Jarre tracks Top 10. Phat bass line that sound fresh even now with a beat you just have to dance to.
Damn…i wish could turn back the time
I've been searching for this song for like decades since i was a kid when this song was a hit back then and i didn't know the title of this song.
Thanks to bring my childhood memory back again. 👍
Great dance and fun track ... a real little masterpiece !!
