It's too bad the guitar and drums were recorded separately, though I'd imagine it's necessary.
I LOVE the finished product, but it would be neat to hear a version with just the orchestra and choir shown in the video!

Wow, a masterful composition. Thomas Bergersen is absolutely unrivalled in this style of music! Watching this video however it doesn't quite look like the piece being performed is the piece we're hearing. Similarly with High C's, some edits seemed to work well with the synch but overall I couldn't shake the feeling that it's not the same piece. I could be way off the mark there and of course you have to wonder why that would be done in the first place!
Just out of interest, I'd love to hear the purely orchestral parts of this, it's such a mammoth mix and when the drums and guitar kick in they overpower. That's not a criticism of the mix, it's absolutely fantastic, I'd just love to hear the orchestra as a bonus track or something.

Yes, but to be fair..it is irritating when you just see the orchestra playing. It makes you think it is an actual recording. @@C1Ansy The same orchestra as in the video recorded the piece at the same place, on the same session. They just made a couple of additional performances of the whole thing for the purpose of cinematic shots, and the ones that are stationary are probably from when they were actually recording. There is little functional difference between this video and what you're asking for, virtually all "official clips" where you see the musicians perform are made this way :)

Love the song. I get why the drums and guitar were cut but this music video feels empty without them, same with some of the vocals in places like at 6:30. Maybe next time record some of the missing parts being recorded and edit them in? Like the guitar solo and the multiple really cool drum transitions. That way we as the audience can get a better idea all the work that goes into these insane master pieces and bring a little more life into these videos.

This marvel of music brought with itself a grand mystery. I don't know if it is the absolute genius of this man at work, or something wrong with my brain. This song sounds different everytime I listen to it. Literally. I heard it over speakers, I heard it over headphones, quite a few times so far, and almost every time I listen to it, my brain goes like "hey wait a minute this part wasn't in this song, how did they add it, the upload date didn't change" it's the weirdest thing ever, yet us makes the whole experience all the more magical. Thomas, somewhere deep in my soul I kinda hope you're actually immortal.
Also, please, with all my heart, in the next recording video, show us the drummer and guitarist as well in the recording studio, I know you couldn't bundle them with the orchestra but they both deserve recognition for what they did.
    Thank you

It's pretty much an increase of awareness. It's not just related to music, it's everywhere. You are getting used to some patterns and then you start to see more "in-depth", little details that didn't occur until that point. In music it's about instruments, in astronomy about more details like star clusters appear with the naked eye in places you were never aware about. In language, you suddenly start to realize at random times the actual meaning and terminology of often used words.
