    I'm watching this while Scott hall is being taken off life support.....the man had his demons....but nobody can say he's not an honest man, the razor character is one of the top 3 heels of all time, I'm thankful for DDP who gave him 5 more years that he most likely would not have had. Goldberg was in the right place at the right time. So was Nash in the early 90s. He sucked on the mic, had the look, and had limited skills like when Goldberg started. The difference was Goldberg had the entrance, music and intensity. If anyone is a mark it's Nash. Lol what a hypocrite

    • @1993Redemption
      @1993Redemption 7 років тому +5

      A mark? Nash knows the business, pretty damn well at that, and understands that one must give and take, win and job, to truly be a good pro wrestler. Goldberg wanted his character to remain undefeated, so much to the point that it wasn't for the money, but just to be the fans' hero. That's what Hall and Nash are talking about when they call Goldberg and Bret Hart marks, guys who forgo money and other benefits for essentially fake fame. So with the being said, how is Nash a mark?

      hold on now.. Goldberg was what he was a brawler and was build as a brawler but in his early days the guy was a freaking agile beast... What made him great was the fact that he wasn't limited in his move sets he actually did at least one thing new every match in his early career.. When he back flipped to avoid a hit that was really cool to see a big heavy brawler do that type of stuff. Yet people hate on Goldberg but praised Austin when he dumbed down his wrestling style and did nothing more then kicks and punches.... smh

    At the time when Vince bought WCW and ECW, I said that what he should have done was run WCW and ECW as separate "promotions", each with its own roster and its own show - WWE Raw on Monday nights, ECW on Wednesday nights, and WCW Nitro on Friday nights.
    Then, give each show 3 exclusive pay-per-views a year, and use the remaining 3 PPVs as cross-promotional events (ideally Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, and Fall Brawl).
    But he simply couldn't put his ego aside and do it right. Instead, he decided to half-ass the entire "invasion" angle, using mostly his own guys to represent the WCW/ECW teams, and then just dump the WCW and ECW properties altogether quickly after.
    Ironically, he's pretty much trying to do all of this today with Raw, Smackdown, and NXT - but he squandered a massive opportunity and wrestling as just gone to shit ever since.

    • @6steveo9
      @6steveo9 4 роки тому +1

      Kind of true. The reason the invasion angle was so bad is because they used the under card guys instead of the main event talent like Hogan, Nash, Hall, Goldberg and Sting. The reason he didn't get them is because Time Warner owned their contracts, so Vince didn't get them when he bought WCW and it would have meant Vince had to buy out or pay off those contracts which likely would have cost him upwards of 30 million dollars. In my opinion he should have done it but then again think about it this way: Vince was paying top guy money to Austin and The Rock, he would have had to pay the main event WCW guys way, way more because with the contracts they had with Time Warner Nash, Hall, Hogan, Goldberg and Sting could sit at home and be clearing a few million dollars a year each. That would not have went over well with his main event guys at all.

    I feel like WWE gave the WCW guys that came in every opprotunity to show that they could hang, but too many of them were on the downward slope in their careers. The NWO may have been over when the first came into WWE that February, but by the end of March, Nash was out and Hall was out a month later. Besides that, Fans didn't want Hollywood, Nash, and Hall. They wanted Hulk, Diesel, and Razor.
    Goldberg couldn't even have a good match with Christian or Jericho in 2003, The Rock tried getting out of the Backlash match despite being the one who set it up and brought Goldberg to WWE, and overall nobody liked the guy and he blamed EVERYONE for why he couldn't have good matches. He also let it be known that he had no intention of wrestling past March 2004 as far back as March 2003. You can't just let a guy like that come into your company and run roughshod, and even then, the only guy to beat him clean that entire year was Kane.
    Scott Steiner couldn't have a good match with Rob Van Dam, which says a lot. He botched a lot and was out of shape, and yet Triple H gets all the blame for their two matches when he really didn't have any "great" matches. Triple H bumped for him like crazy, and I'm of the opinion that he was a bumping machine that year to try and get other guys over, but it just didn't work.
    Nash you could've argued should've won the Hell in a Cell match and won the WH Title, but Nash was also leaving in a month to film "The Punisher", and Triple H/Goldberg had been penciled in for the main event. The problem is that Triple H got injured and couldn't get through a full match, so the Elimination Chamber match was decided upon, and since you can't exactly have Goldberg win the title and immediately have Triple H challenge for in at the next PPV and expect big buys, have Triple H get a dirty win after Goldberg dominates the match and just have him win in September instead.
    As for Booker T, he was a last minute substitution for Scott Steiner once the office realized Steiner couldn't hang with the main eventers. They tried to get Booker T over in the span of about a month, and even had him go over clean against Triple H, and constantly left him a bleeding mess, but the fans still weren't buying it. Even at WM19, Triple H and Flair were getting more cheers than he was, and it wasn't until he lost and got a rematch later that month prior to Backlash that the fans finally viewed him as being at Triple H's level, but by then Triple H/Nash was already off to the races and did great business.

    WCW had two big ideas - nWo, and Goldberg - and that was it. They ran nWo into the ground by having it drag on forever, splintering into lame subgroups like Wolfpac, and endless screwy finishes and backstabbing. And Kevin Nash is almost single-handedly responsible for killing Goldberg via shit booking, including more than once putting himself over at the expense of Goldberg.
    Nash was on top of the world due to being in the Big 3 of the nWo (Nash, Hall, Hogan), and it went directly to his head. He's a big reason WCW went down in flames, and I hope he always remembers that.
    And yes, WWE completely fucked up the Invasion angle, because a) Vince wouldn't allow the WCW faction to get one over on the WWE faction, even temporarily; it was a pure ego trip, and b) because WWE didn't bring on most of the major WCW talents, due to their awful contracts. The majority of the "Invasion" was carried out by midcarders.

It took a whole lot of interference and a frickin taser to beat Goldberg which kept him looking strong, we can argue about how it played out but on paper they made him look like an absolute monster in defeat

    It's weird to see Scott Hall let Kevin Nash answer first and go quiet when in reality he has a WAAAAY better Wrestling mind than Nash ever will.

      Hall IMO was the best guy from that era in either WCW or WWF who never won a world title. I think his addiction issues had something to do with that, and glad he seems clean now. But yeah, talented guy.

    Vince should've waited for the contracts of the bigger stars to come through. Sting has gone on record to say that the defining moment of him deciding not to sign was when Rock turned to Booker T in the ring and said "Who are you?". Sting took offence, thought it was disrespectful and stayed away. If only Vince would've waited, not only could we have had Sting vs Taker (in their prime) and also NWO vs DX!

      Sadly this was all about Vince's EGO he brought in WCW stars to destroy them nothing more and even JBL loosely said it at Wrestlemania with Sting vs HHH and look how they killed his legacy this is why i hate WWE now I remember enjoying watching them both hoping for an invasion angle and when they finally got it the fans never truly got what they wanted

    • @maceogarcia9133
      @maceogarcia9133 6 років тому +8

      true he did do that to everbody but when it was done to Booker T it was a subliminal move on letting WCW superstars know that your truly playing with the big boys now Sting saw it for what it truly was look at the difference in the crowd reactions when he does it to Booker T than when it happens to other stars
