I am looking at these tents also it appears they have upgraded the floors. They are now making 16 oz poly vinyl. The same as Kodiak and thicker than Spring bar.
No Problem, I will be making more, I am extremely happy with this tent and would take it over Kodiak and Springbar any day, no buyers remorse whatsoever. I use it daily as my home office for now, leaking isnt a problem with this tent. I only issue is the bottom of the doors but I think Im adding some wide velcro above the current strip
@@supportmarxism4072 That's great to hear. You make a good point about the bottom of the doors, we'll pass that feedback along to the team. We have put in a lot of hard work to make this the best choice of cabin tent, so it's awesome to see you see that as well.
@@WhiteDuckOutdoors I was planning to buy the Prota 10x14 this week... Until I watched this video, I was unaware of the Velcro at the bottom of the door. I am sad to say that I will have to hold off on my purchase due to this issue. Hopefully you decide to add a zipper I'm the future... Otherwise looks like a great product
@@huntnw2085 Hi Justin. There's a zipper on the door as well! You can see it in our video at 0:58: ua-cam.com/channels/vrebkGKueM2Snb-H28RmUg.html. The velcro is for added protection.
Great vid! Have you taken it out yet?I would seal it like Kodiak says spraying down with water and letting dry on a warm day.Shrinks and tightens canvas to ensure waterproofing.Hopefully those holes in stitching close.
not yet, still in my backyard, I hosed it down today and its been raining. just looked and a little bit of water from one of the corners. The manual says its normal, have to let it dry and shrink but no other water. I just have the Coleman 9x13 to compare it to. There were like 30 poles and they all had to be oriented in the right position for the tensioners, because they all had to be manually tensioned. Its a beast. This thing is so quick and easy, totally worth it. The specs show how much thicker the tent is than all the others and much better for throwing an AC in it, etc. I think I like this best of springbar & kodiak bc springbar doesn't have the zip sides, is 2x as much, and this tent looks better than kodiak and thicker. The water actually does bead off the tent somewhat.
How does this tent hold up in the wind? We just got back from the Mojave Desert and our Coleman dark room tent poles snapped and ripped the tent itself ripped from a seam. I don’t want to buy another nylon tent and want something built for life
I lived in it for about 3 months in my back yard when the weather was nice. It didn't do so good being in the wet humidy for weeks on end as I started to get some mold, then I used an AC Unit in the tent and when it would rain, water would go in where I had the AC. I then accidenty ripped the entire top when I wasn't careful with the poles. I would probably get another one but a smaller one, you really don't need that much tent for sleeping.
How durable do the stake loops around the bottom look? Any concerns with wearing out compared to the metal loops on the Kodiak or the metal loops and perimeter rope of the Springbar? The website doesn't show much about the stake/loop area. How many stakes does it take? The pics on the website look like they show two stakes in the same area at the corner.
so its got the main bottom stakedowns, then it has these bungie loops around the stakes for extra support if needed, to put more stake s in at different points where the bungie will take up the load. I dont put the extra stakes in for these since I have not yet needed them. It takes about 12 min to stake it all down, then the rest of the poles is under 5 min, feels like seconds to raise it. Its a miracle from my Coleman oasis which had like 30 poles. Ill have to fix the part where the bottom doesn't zip, maybe ill have to stitch in some extra wide velcro at the bottom, major flaw but can be fixed. Still better than Kodiak and the Springbar sides dont zip down, this is how I get all my airflow.
Right now using it for my home office, I made a couple of vids but haven't posted them yet. I put an 10x8 rug, workstation, and have the cot in. Is there something specific you want me to shoot about it?
I enjoyed it but its not meant to have up in the wet humidity for a long time, I kept mine up all the time and eventually started to get some mold growing white. If you live in a wet area, I would go with a nylon tent as when they get wet, they take a while to dry out and not sure how to do that unless you have a big area with a dehumidifier in doors.
yes I believe they're aluminum and they say the floor is 16oz the same as the others. I was just comparing it to my Coleman Canvas tent which seemed thicker, but this floor is like a rubber material. The long poles have the cords in them so they just fold up together, dont even have to worry about what goes where.
Well my friend you are a lot more forgiving and accepting than I will ever be. You don't mind water getting into your tent? Evidently you have not had the pleasure of spending a cold, shivering night in wet gear. The bottom of the door doesn't completely or easily seal? There is definitely an issue with that. Yeah there will be bugs but the worse will be rodents getting into your gear and tearing it up for nesting material. Plus they really like our food as well. I don't have enough space to type the words to fully describe the joys of being woke up in the middle of the night because a mouse ran across your face (they pee and shit as they run around pretty much constantly, so yeah there's that). You said you forewent the Springbar because of availability issues and price. You flat out stated that you didn't want a Kodiak Canvas without really specifying why you didn't though.
I rained for 3 days and I only had a small amount of water in a corner during the seasoning process, the tent was drenched for 3 days of constant rain so I dont think water will be a problem. I dont think anything will crawl through the door, if I'm that concerned about it, Ill put a towel in it. I don't keep food in my tents, who would do that. This tent is canvas is far superior to the kodiak and much better looking. The Springbar is $1000 and doesn't even have sides that vent. In my opinion this tent is the best of the 3 easily

Maybe, my Coleman felt even thicker like a plastic, this is more like a rubber. Im afraid something might go through it without a tarp.
Very informative video, thanks for sharing Jeff!

Useful video. I don't like that door design at all. Now I have to reconsider if I want one. I wonder how it does in heavy wind.

Hose the tent down to season the tent and to test for leaking.
I just ordered the 10x14

When do you going to post update video about the tent

Just two things, how is the temperature inside and how this tent is attached to the ground
Would love to see the update of the home office as well!
Can just one person set it up?
yes but I think id buy a cheap nylon tent if I bought another one
I have a little comb lock to lock up my tent when I sleep of go get water at the restroom pit.
How has ur tent worked out for you

I guess my Kodiak leaks zero water. 😊
This one is water repellent as well! We just recommend you 'season' the tent or hose it down before using it to tighten up the pores.
