You took that declaration to a higher level that many of us will never accomplish but I have a made a goal to hike 1 mile of the AT in all 14 states. I’ve done a mile in GA. Woody Gap to Preacher’s rock. I hope to hike at Clingman’s Dome in TN the first week in April and plan to hike Standing Indian Mountain in NC with my brother. I’m really looking forward to doing my “mini” hikes! Thanks so much for sharing your story Kudos to the author of this article. Stick with teaching. Audrey, I love falling you on the ATT last year. I still love the blogs you put out since you’ve gotten home I hope to see more of them. I’m still trying to get up the courage and the energy to attack Hikeing the AT. And it’s people like you that inspire me like you I’m not sure why I want to go do it other than I want to and I want to experience the culture of the trail and the people. I’m 71 years old got plenty of aches and pains already, but I’m hoping to at least in April get out and hike the Appalachian Trail through Virginia. Again, thank you so much your smile lights up the sky and I can understand they could name you Northstar just from your smile itself.
