The field on the right at the top end has seen some action. I remember stardust burn to a crisp and the miracle of Dave getting out of it (I think Gary page helped him get the belts undone?) And a bike (John Hobbs? ) Going off into the field
I was standing next to the ITV camera when Roland Pratt and Transcontinental crashed, I got a great photo with the rear wheel about a metre off the ground. {Great photo for 12 year old with a Kodak instamatic...}
With the power of these, machines I believe they should have enough room without destroying their vehicles along a concrete barrier to be able to recover without destroying their vehicles.
Well most of the first part of Gary Page's fireball looks like my footage??? I showed it to him in the pits not long after!! (I thought he had rolled when it was behind the fire truck! he said it had just spun around!)
At 18:55, maybe when your car blows up and catches fire you should like,....... stop. Then, later, that same day, when you get a chance, turn off the fuel pump.

When you consider how much it costs to run any form of motorsport and that investment can, literally, go up in smoke in the blink of an eye 👁 it makes me wonder why anyone would want to throw away that kind of money 💰, we all know what compels drivers, adrenaline junkies, but the money men and women, they must be gambling addicts.
The saves were incredible as well as the crashes. As for the spills well the cameraman at the end took the cake on that one

That mini stripteaser was a handfull,it used to rock side to side on its back wheels.I saw it parked up near me in surbiton surrey a few years later.
