Changed speakers from stock (VW POLO AW 2018) to the two kits - IS VW 155 woofer and tweeter and IC VW 165 combo in the back and sound deadened all doors with sound dampening. Bass response improved, but overall sound is about the same. Ordered a focal 4.320 amplifier to try out now as I found myself pushing the car system's eq all max to have decent sound. Will see how it turns out. Nice work by the way! EDIT : just installed focal impulse amp and holy moly this is good. In my opinion just changing speakers ain't worth it, you gotta power them up properly. And focal implulse little amp works damn great. Just hide it away somewhere in the dash so your wife can't see it xD
Did you have to adjust the amp settings at all or did you just drop it in and leave it at default settings? Considering buying one of these and this would be one of the first mods I'd do.
@@wfujay3946 you got to adjust it of course to find a sweet spot. For the gain I put all settings on default on the media screen and all the crossover settings of the amp at full. Then put the volume at 75%, played a 150hz, 500hz and 1000hz with the hear protection headphone i use in the shop and went slow on the front gain till hear the distortion, then backed it off a little till no more distortion, then same thing on the rear speakers. Distortions are more easily audible with 150hz freq. after that high pass 75hz in front and about the same in the rear. Don’t know how good my method is but seem to work well :)
@@wfujay3946 I think tho, for the real good control of a sound a dsp could be a cool thing but I ain’t got any more money to throw in the sound of a polo haha. Sound deadening of doors worked nicely for the mid bass. It is nicely toight. But overall I think my setup lack a little in the mids somewhere in my car at least, while having a tad too much of highs. I’ve boosted mids a little bit and checked if distortion was ok on the amp but still there is a dip somewhere it is not as linear as I want. But yeah if I had 5k to throw at the system… There is an other little amp which has some sort of a auto dsp setting with included mic. Maybe it is better don’t know. To conclude, I like the sound it is good, jazz sounds wonderfully, pop sounds damn great, electro too. But for metal, I have the voice somewhat behind instruments a little.

Hello there! Have you had any issues with the factory radio powering these Focal? Asking due to the impedance difference: factory are 8ohms and Focal are 2ohms. Planning to do the same with a 2024 Tiguan. Thanks!
Was this by choice picking the R line with base audio ? Looks simple. Not sure why VW cheaps out some cars though. The Dynaudio Excite drivers that they use in some vehicles are excellent
Hi, just wanted to know if you have any issues with the speaker upgrade? The speakers which focal makes specifically for VW have an impedance of 2 ohms and if the base unit doesn't have enough power then it could heat up. Also is there any distortion at higher volume? Bass depth better than stock speakers?
The Bass is about the same. I have no issues with the impedance. I think stock tweets were also 2 ohms? I have since added a powered sub. So on Stock Bass its one below the zero point so they are very clear and play louder than needed.
@@jasonin2details Hi Jason! Why did you not choose to use a two-way kit in the rear seats? My R line came from factory with a place for the two way kit at the back door...yours did not bring it?
On the focal speakers they have dual power and dual ground in the connector but your only using one power and ground per speaker. Like someone else mentioned no clipping at higher volumes?
I looked at the link for the speakers you installed. The crushfield site could not find any speaker that matches my 2022 VW Tiquan SE? Which exact model number you used? Thank you
Any issues with the Focal speakers drawing too much power from the factory radio? You mentioned the Focal speakers being 4 ohms. But Crutchfield told me they are 2 ohms. That would draw more power from the amp…correct? So, what were the ohms on the factory speakers you took out? This has been a struggle to get any info on this project that you did.
