I live in Jersey now but probably will move to a Less-Taxed state when I retire. I would love to see a Chart/Database comparing all the states. Or a video with the 5 Best or 5 worst states for retirees based on Medicare cost. Shop was my Favorite.
My favorite subject was Music (high school) and Political Science (college). Yes, Princeton is a gorgeous campus -- Albert Einstein taught here -- and NJ is a dichotomy of costs, with the North of Princeton area more expensive (NY region) than the South Jersey (where I live near Philly) region. NJ is a tale of two states. My big issue as I approach choosing Advantage v. Original Medicare Supplement plans is what networks my current doctors are using. Another great video!!
As a recent retiree going on Medicare other than possibly an Advantage network leaving basically you're going to pay either way. Supplemental is upfront and Advantage is as you need it. Probably in the end it comes out to about the same in lifetime costs.
@@vinnyg2619 My reason for leaning towards a Part C is the added benefits (which I use all of them now) of hearing, dental, and eye glasses. Plus, the part D may be more expensive to have separately for me, as I am taking about 9 medications.
@@Theretirementnerds Update: Had an initial conversation with my local Medicare Broker John, and methinks a Plan G is the best way to go even with Trial Rights. He mentioned NJ PAAD, which I should qualify for, and that will pay for my Part D, saving me a LOT of cash. Hearing and Vision will just have to be out of pocket then. With Original Medicare, I don't have to worry about ever losing a doctor or imaging lab again for being "kicked" out of the Network; and some of the best hospitals are here in Philly and South Jersey (like Anderson Cooper Cancer and Penn Medicine).

Fav subject English - timely viewing I’ll be calling you - although you’ve already explained a lot in a little bit thank you - Princeton is near my old home - beautiful and fun!
@LJInnes thank you for watching! It was very pretty. I'd only ever been to Newark and thought that was New Jersey. I liked the Princeton area a lot! Erik@TheRetirementNerds.com is my email. Happy to help however I can.
@@Theretirementnerds "I'd only ever been to Newark and thought that was New Jersey." No, no, no. Newark is basically NYC. Yuck. Southern NJ (the shore line) and northwestern and western NJ are all very nice. Also, parts of interior southern NJ are very rural. There's actually a professional Rodeo in Woodstown, NJ. Who would have thought.... Also, NJ's nickname is the Garden State. The absolute BEST tomatoes in the world are Jersey tomatoes. I think it's something the soil. The only problem with NJ is property taxes are sky high.
Welcome to NJ! Princeton is a very beautiful campus, I used to work down the street from it. Actually I was in Princeton on Saturday, took a turn down a street and found areas of Princeton University that I didn't know existed. I hope you were able to take the family to the shore! Based on what I found out researching Medicare supplements, AARP/UHC is the largest supplement company in NJ, followed by a distant second is BC/BS of NJ. Cigna, Humana and Mutual of Omaha (being large companies) have few clients compared to the top two. There are other small companies but they have a very small client base. AARP/UHC is giving the spousal discount and a discount for taking premiums directly out of a checking/savings account; they are also discounting the plan 45% with a lock for 3 years then 2% decay until 79 then 3% until it's gone. They also offer 2 different Plan N's and G's - 1each with perks and 1 each without; the G plans are off by $1.00 but the N plans have a substantial monthly difference. Math and Science are my subjects.
What a great comment! All the way to the end! I'm limited on how much detail I can give publicly specific to insurance companies, so thank you for sharing this :)
NJ is maybe the most underrated state in the country! Glad you got to check it out. Hope you got some Italian food while you were in town. Also favorite subject was history
History is a good one! New Jersey was such a great experience and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd only ever seen Newark before this and I like a bit more of a rural feel, so this was great. Enough going on in the cities to keep up entertained, but small enough to not feel crowded :)
Ah, that area around Princeton is prety nice. Expensive, but nice. The company I originally started with (until swallowed up by bigger and bigger companies, LOL) had operations near there. I had not so great experiences in school, but there were teachers and instructors that somehow "clicked" with me and I excelled in their classes, Algebra I (I aways struggled with math) I excelled in, Biology, History, and in tech school the instructor for Digital Electronics and Microprocessors also. So it's not that I'm a total numbskull, but it takes a certain type of teacher/method to get me to understand the topic and do well.
Growing up in SE Pennsylvania we would go "down the shore" often in the summers. "Down the shore" in PA means southern NJ beaches. Anywhere from Brigantine all the way to Cape May. It's only a 90 minute drive with no traffic. My sister owned a small vacation house just outside of Ocean City for 15 years. Hopefully, you made it somewhere near the coast. A good friend of mine lives in Medford, NJ. He's got a Plan N with Aetna. Oh, and my favorite subject was (and still is) history.
We could all learn from history. Pretty amazing. Loved New Jersey! As you saw in a different comment, Newark was my only experience before this. Was very pleasantly surprised :)
English. Years ago I had a job on Nassau st right across from PU. Beautiful area
Very pretty. Thank you for sticking to the end 😊

Thank you so much Steve! Really enjoyed our time in NJ!

Great video, very informative. You mentioned about NJ becoming a Guaranteed Issue state, would you mind posting Where you heard about that?

Love it! The teacher definitely makes a difference! Thank you so much for watching
Following you for a while. How can we help you get more exposure?
You watching and sharing with anyone you feel needs to hear these topics is great! Appreciate you and your support!
Chemistry is the subject. However, it's not the department I attended.
Interesting... Thank you for sharing!
