    our definitions of what makes a "dark deck" are different. for me there's an aesthetic element, but it’s more about how the deck makes me feel, what work it is suited for/why i reach for it, and its voice in a reading. btw i think i should have included the ritual tarot, but as i made this video spur of the moment, there was something telling me no... can't remember what that something was haha. but tell me what decks in your collection do you consider dark?

      ever, I loved all the dark decks you suggested and your reasoning behind each choice. What comes to mind for me is, of course, the Ceccoli Tarot -- beautiful and confronting and supportive at the same time. I use it to talk to my mom...but not for every conversation I have with her. You know?
      Also, I love reading with the Unfinished Business Tarot and the Haunted Manor Oracle together. They are dark decks in terms of subject matter, and they also lift me up as I travel into the beauty of their images. Not a 100% aesthetic match, but the messages are quite profound and a lot of fun!
      And I see the Jonasa Jaus Tarot as a dark deck. Reading the deck as the artist intended, the images can be a bit raw with pretty sharp edges to them (to put it mildly). I love that so much, because even as the cards challenge my emotions, they surround me with a scent of vibrant power -- I can almost smell the gorgeous plants and flowers in the cards. 🖤🌿🌱🌺🌹🖤💛

      yes! the ceccoli tarot is a huge one as far as dark decks go. i can't believe i still don't have it lol. how cool and sweet that you use to it talk to your mom 🩷 the unfinished business tarot! i think i underestimated that deck, the majors are so good. i can totally see the pairing with haunted manor, they both have a "whisper of the past" feeling to them which i can see as bringing you on a journey! i love that they lift you up! mmm jonasa jaus, what a beautiful deck. "a scent of vibrant power" ooooh that's so delicious! i've never heard a description like that 🏵️🖤🌼🤍

    The Goetia deck was my first deck, it taught me tarot and continues to help me evolve in the craft. I read very differently now then when I began and it has been with me on that journey, so the deck has become like home, a home shrouded in darkness, but that has always been my preference anyways. For me it's a great deck for spiritual growth and connection. For me it's a journey to the underworld and communing with cthonic deities, each with their own lessons to teach you.

      whoa that's an amazing deck to have as your first! i can only imagine the depth you speak of. wow, a home shrouded in darkness feels so warm actually, and yes to cthonic deities. i love that you found a deck that works in your preference and is such a great teacher as you evolve as a reader and practitioner - what a gift 🙌🏽⚡

    I loved how you talk about this decks and it is so enchanting I thought about almost every deck on this list "i wish i have it, wow". I feel you are so much more mature then I am. You don't refuse to see and look within this darkness, of humanity, of yourself. You work with it, even it gets scary sometimes. Most confronting and difficult decks I own is Deviant moon, Antique anatomy (because of body parts, that was the thing I needed to be used to) and Angelarium oracle. There was a time I wanted Alchemical Visions, but I got scared, something about this deck gets me a goosebumps.🌷🌻🍀

      you're the sweetest 🖤🌺 it can be quite scary to work with the dark but in a lot of ways, but i feel like i didn't have much choice in the matter - my only way out was through. sometimes i'm still wading through! i don't know if i'll ever get the deviant moon, but i would like to experience it in person at least. it's such an interesting deck. i totally understand with the antique anatomy, the body can be a vast wilderness, difficult to map and find peace within its own intelligence. the alchemical visions and i have an on again off again relationship, i don't blame you, it's a lot to take in! the word i could have used in the video is portal, it opens a portal then sets you loose in that realm, very intimidating!! thank you so much for watching, it's always lovely chatting with you🌷🍀🩵

      When you said, you didn't have much choice i thought about the Strength card. Hard, traumatic experiences, but even those little not-so-traumatic give choice what we do about that. We can choose path of anger or selfgrowth. This leads us to taming "the beast", or not. The path you've chosen makes you so beautiful soul.
      Sorry if that makes no sens, i think that in my language i could explain ot better. Often when i'm writing to you i'm afraid that my words come harsh or wird.

    🌻🌼 When you said that you use the Hayworth tarot when you are reading the house of leaves, what do you mean by that? Do you form questions from reading the book, then do a tarot reading? Maybe you said it and I just missed it. I have had that deck for about a year, but I don’t work with it much. I wish I knew more about the radio show that it’s based on from the 50s.
    My other “dark” deck is the Necronomicon tarot by HP Lovecraft. The guidebook says the deck is “designed to help you face your deepest fears”. It is a dark deck for sure. I am currently doing a deep dive study of the alchemical visions tarot. I get a lot of additional depth of meaning from the guidebook even though you are right that it is not very divinatory based. But I love digging into other aspects of cards, so I’m good with it at this point. Plus I LOVE huge cards for some reason 😂 Have you heard of the isolation tarot? It is one of the weirdest decks I’ve ever seen, but I absolutely love it! I am now in love with the Oracle of initiation! Not heard of it before. It is a bit out of my price range, but it is now on my list. Your videos are the best! I learn so much from you.

    • @everonward.
      @everonward. 3 місяці тому +1

      ooh good question, you didn't miss! what i do with the house of leaves is pretty much as you said. i will ask questions based on what i'm reading. i originally started reading the book in response to a recurring dream i was having - the themes of the book felt in line with the energy of the dream so i thought it could give me some insight (i talk a bit about it in my video on pairing my reads if you want to check that out). so as i'm reading i'll pull cards based on a particular passage as it relates to my dream, or what might happen next, exploring interesting concepts, whatever sparks my interest. i will even pull cards when i come back into the book or leave it, as a way of gauging and setting the energy. it's very fluid. i'm STILL reading the book actually lol i'm really taking my time with it. at the end i want to lay out all the cards i received and see if there's a narrative for me in there.

      yes, the necronomicon looks really cool! i love that for a mission of a deck. also i love the art style and the images are really evocative.
      oooh a deep dive into alchemical visions? i'm so curious about that. i would love to do a deep dive at some point, there is so much information in there! i agree, the large cards are quite amazing and i can still riffle and bridge them from the side which is *chefs kiss* 🙌🏽
      i haven't heard of the isolation tarot! let me look now....oooh pretty cool, i'd love to see a walkthrough of it - couldn't find one anywhere!
      yea the oracle of initiation is up there in price. but totally worth it imo. the book is a must.

      @@everonward.Lennan Smith posted a video a few days ago called “funky deck vibes“ where she did a walk-through of the isolation tarot. That’s how I found out about it. And Thank you for sharing details about how you pull cards as you’re reading a book. That is such a cool concept. I am going to try it. And I will definitely go back and check out your previous video where you talk more about it. I’m reading a book right now that’s very interesting and kind of weird called “near to the wild heart” by Clarice Lispector. This could be the perfect book to try your method of pulling cards. Today, I read a sentence in this book that I had to read over and over because it really captivated me. It said, “even pleasure doesn’t give me as much pleasure as being evil,” I loved that! Anyway, I could go on and on, but I will end it here. Thank you for your thorough and detailed response!

    I have the Oracle d'OR I like it but I need to work with it more. I still feel scared in the dark however, if I had to be in a minimalist black house vs a minimalist white house for a week for instance I think I would pick the black house. The black house looks a little haunting, "creepy" and it's holding a secret however with a white house it feels sterile, nothingness, stagnant, foreign, psychological thriller, like one of those never-ending optical illusions of a house or something. I am debating on getting the Oracle of Initiation, if I do I might have to trim the title border off and write on the back the name of the card because the solid color pulls me out of the artwork. I enjoyed this video.

    • @everonward.
      @everonward. 3 місяці тому +1

      oooooh what a cool way of processing that fear! i love that! and i toally agree, the white would be so disconcerting, so disquieting. now that i'm saying it, i'd wanna try it just to see what i would get out of that experience lol. nothingness and neverendingness are so terrifying.
      i hear you with the oracle of initiation, i definitely wish i had the tarot size -- i also prefer it without the borders. but i got my copy second hand and i scooped it for such a good price i couldn't resist. have you considered the tarot size? or do you prefer a larger edition?

      @@everonward.Hi, sorry YT didn't notify me of your reply but yeah, I would like to try it out as well. I feel like if it took place during the day the white house would have more of a psychological effect but at night it might have a comforting effect? Since the light of the moon will help make the walls "glow" and make it easier to maneuver around..almost like a flash light/night light. But the opposite would happen where at night it would be more psychological but during the day it would be easier. This would make an interesting movie.
      I'm not sure actually on which size I would get.

    Lovely video. Very important issue. The healers in our collection can be tricky to pick out. Mellissae's Oracle of Initiation has been a great teacher for me, and she continues to give a lot of healthy relearning or unlearned to so many people who have survived painful lives, past lives and loss.
