My personal take, was losing my father. We didn't have a great relationship, and now I'd give the world to have him yell at me again. This song brought me to tears.
My first-listen perception is similar, except the granted part, I feel like they tried to keep it together long but didn't work. But now he left and realizes that he misses her, so it's a kind of with-or-without situation. Or I'm just thinking this because I'm in this exact situation, just before leaving :'D

Feeling inadequate is a norm because society usually measures love by a comfort level/ monetary value. You cant put a price on a life, or the meaning of giving everything (dying) for someone. A soul is priceless! Once that consciousness is gone, you only have a vessel. That is the reality. All the money in the 🌎 can't replace your soul mate, your child, your father, your mother, Grand parents, brother, sister, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, bff, dog, or cat. I dont hate that I need you! Use your time wisely!

You have to truly love someone to understand this. If it doesn't apply you then you've never really been in love. It's not toxic or obsessive it's seeing the potential and wanting someone to spend your life with. Mistakes happen some worst than others and karma always gets us. You learn to forgive and hope for the same and if it doesn't happen this song will be a reminder of my memories. For some it's easy to let go but for others like myself it haunts you and torments you. There's very little you can do about it but deal with it and hope for the best. Looking at this from anothers point of you and still hate their guts it's fucked up but also understandable and at least you're loved by someone that will wait an eternity to be with you again most people don't have that.
