Biopolymers are foreign substances injected into the body (such as illegal silicone butt and lip injections 💉), that can lead to a lot of health problems in patients.
Common symptoms from these substances range from chronic pain to recurrent infections and even unwanted migration of the original substance to other areas of the body.
In Plastic Surgery, we treat this issue by utilizing Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction which helps break up the substance into the small particles you see in this video, and we then remove from the body via liposuction. Sometimes the damage is so extensive that we even have to cut out large portions of the affected area 😱 Afterwards, we perform liposuction of other areas of the body away from the affected sites and graft that fat obtained into the originally affected site. This not only helps improve patient symptoms, but it restores the augmented form they originally desired. It is also extremely important to not have any regular liposuction performed or get a BBL on areas that have had previous biopolymer injections as this can lead to migration, sepsis, and even death!
