Just want to ask regarding forging defects- "Residual Stress" & "Incomplete Forging Penetration"..How can these be checked or detected externally as they don't appear as crack or unfilled section like other defects? Also please let know how can we avoid rapid cooling which is the cause for most of the defects like cold shut, flakes & surface cracking?

Bro you're wrong, if you'll heat a metal then it can be easily beaten to thin wire without breaking, but cold metal can break more easily then hot metal, so ductility increases with increase in temperature
