- 2005 crown vic ashtray/cup holder removal. I broke my face cover cause I didn't knw how to remove it .I Google an got the info an I wanted to help Sumone else that might be having the same issue

The bottom of one of my cupholders came off and I couldn't put it back without removing the tray. Your video was a blessing because I couldn't see what was holding it from sliding out. Many thanks for the video.

My 8 year old accidentally broke the face off just like you did, AND we want to sell the car so we HAVE to replace the part because We're selling it and the only thing wrong with the vehicle is the dumb cup holder! Thanks SO much for taking the time to post this. You saved my day. I'm ordering the part on ebay right now and fixing it to sell. Mine is an 09 interceptor bu it's exactly the same. HA!!! Your 8 year old broke off the face (6 years ago anyway) and I'm 70 years old and I broke off the face! I ordered one from ebay and I will install it today. I just bought this 14 year old car two weeks ago and I'm already tearing it up! I want my Lincoln back.
Many thanks, the video was clear and well done. I realiize this is an old video and kinda stale, but, for the problem cited at the outset, if you can't find a replacement at a junkyard, you can do what I did: Repair the broken clevis ears on the front cover. I made new ones with blobs of epoxy, ground to final shape with a Dremmel. It works!
TY Carlton! Was the drawer sturdy after your fix with the epoxy glob? Can you do a video on how to do the epoxy glob & use the dremmel tool to fix the front of the tray?

Don't feel bad about breaking the handle/door off ---that's why I tuned in to this video! I just pulled my ashtry/cup holder out and the door broken off. I don't know why, I just did the usual thing of pulling. I ordered a replacement cup holder and it is coming in today. Thank you for making this video because I didn't know how to take out the old one. Hope I don't break anything else in the process!

Thanks. I broke mine too. I just received the one I bought on eBay. I think I paid too much for a used one, but I wanted the right color and a nice one. Thankfully I opened the box and it looks brand new

wonnieboy: Thanks, man. I too was faced with the chance to take my ash tray apart this morning. The odds of tossing a much needed key into that slot between the ash tray assembly and the dashboard are fairly ridiculous. However, I managed to pull that move off on the bounce. You helped me in a big, big way. I'm rocking a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. I had my ash tray cover ripped off as well.

my 06 was the exact same set up. I broke off my front cover also but was able to super glue it back to new.

Thank you. Yes it helped. You can fix that cover with JB Weld. Take the broken pieces off and reattach them with JB Weld, sand it and paint it with color match interior car paint from Autozone.

Thank you for the video! So when you pull it out, there are no connecting wires of any sort? I thought there would be a wire that you would have to also disconnect for the cigarette lighter? I have a Grand Marquis.
There is, and I currently need help figuring out how to release the clip that binds the wiring harness to the tray. It's very difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks man that really helped a lot! Somehow I got a bottle cap jammed in the slider track so I needed to remove the cup holder to fix it. My car is an 07 Marquis so I think your method should work for Fords or Mercurys from 1996 forward

@@huthut7839 , no I did not make it good enough to satisfy myself and have been busy with other things I am running without the cup holder / knee bumper. I am just using the floor hump as a cup holder. and my 12 volt power just lies on the floor, sorry.

You can try some super glue the gorilla glue is good.

that's a disconnect.I can just disconnect it an tock the wire back up inside or plug back together if ur not keeping cup holder or permanently like I did mine

Another crown vic with camel colored interior, or light grey. Hard to tell. Good luck finding another one. 9 out of 10 times I find them with a black dash.
the ashtray on mine use to flip up and stay up. any chance you could show me the backside of the ashtray, so i can see whats missing on mine that keeps the lighter flipped in the up position ?

still had to rig it though. no way I'm spending that cash for a simple fix. I just used some silicone sealer and rigged it. it can't close well but it looks OK and doe's the job . Country boy will survive! ha-ha
How’d you get the plastic handle part back on ?
I just bought a sweet very sporty looking 2005 Grand Marquis LS Ultimate Edition. The front cover is off of the cup holder and the driver side cup holder is broke. So I want to replace the whole unit like this. I am not sure how do you address the wiring/plug for the lighter/charger outlet as far as getting it properly removed and installing the entire replacement?

@@swt8866 I just found the answer: Initially, I tried using needle-nose pliers to compress the ears/side of the head of it which protrudes through the hole and is visible on the top side of the tray. My thought was that perhaps those sides/ears function as a catch that needed to be released. I'm not sure if that did anything helpful or not. HOWEVER, I simply kept pulling pretty hard on it from the bottom side while working it from side to side and it came out! You're welcome!

what about the cigarette lighter? Is is not connected to something on the back or the cup holder? Have to disconnect anything other than the 2 clips?
To be honest I can't remember. It's been so long since I made this video. But im I'm sure there's a plug or something you'll need to disconnect in back for CIG lighter. Im sure, soon as you pull cup holder out you'll see it right away . but sorry I'm not more help due to my memory
