Dmitry Orlov was born in Leningrad, USSR, into an academic family, and emigrated to the US in the mid-1970s. He holds degrees in Computer Engineering and Linguistics, and has worked in a variety of fields, including high-energy physics, Internet commerce, network security and advertising. He is the author of several previous books, including Reinventing Collapse and The Five Stages of Collapse.

I'm not the biggest Trump fan and I certainly believe Mr Orlov is correct that Trump will continue to spend big money on the military and give the military industrial complex all it wants under the cloak of China.
But I also don't believe the Trump assassination was a fraud to benefit Trump.
Trump was likely already going to win in a landslide even with the cheating.
The only real people I know who want to vote for Biden are green hippy types, some old boomers and federal employees. Even the state employees I know hate Biden

Yes, he is a great profiler. He understands the US very well, especially the part about candidates not keeping their campaign promises. Well, actually, Nixon DID keep his promise to end the Vietnam War - he just protracted the conflict first, to establish "peace with honor." As Dmitry says, declare victory and leave. Nixon "ended" the war by doubling the draft, escalating the bombing, and putting more troops on the ground to Surge. When they escalate the conflict and Surge, that is when they are leaving.

I like Dimitri too but his take on Trump is too dismissive. There is a lot to dislike but Trump is more than a just a Playboy. Best not to underestimate the man, especially if you view him as an enemy.

I read Orlov's Five Stages of Collapse 10 years ago and I still recommend it. No-punches-pulled, no partisanship, no BS. Too many people think voting for the right politician is going to save them. That's not how this works. Nobody should kid themselves. Things can and do fall apart all the time. Maybe we in the West are okay for now. For how long? Who knows? Develop practical skills, be adaptable, build relationships with people in the real world, starting with your neighbors (even the ones you don't like), and teach your children those values. If/when things go south, people will need those things more than gold, guns, or canned goods on their bunker shelves. (Those help too though.)

Hey, listen. I really appreciate your work as a true journalist. You listen carefully and don't interrupt your guests, which is the Hallmark of a real journalist. I especially appreciate that you bring on people like Orlov, whose candid approach and straightforwardness are refreshing.
However, I'm disappointed that this channel deletes thought-provoking comments. Which under closer scrutiny, at least for the sharp-minded are well-meaning and constructive. You can do better.

Oddly enough, I have had the same feeling about the attempted Trump assassination. It’s a feeling only, but it’s based on Trump’s photograph with fist raised while standing in front of the flag flanked by one woman and two male “soldiers.” An Australian commentator, whose name I do not know, remarked that it reminded her of Liberty Leadng the People by Eugene Delacroix. Granted, Liberty is a bare breasted female figure, but otherwise the iconography is close, too close for my comfort. When the commentator said that, I saw the parallel immediately.
Looks like Iwo Jima raising of the flag which was taken from a moving reel. Trumps looked surreal and unreal because it had incompetent secret service agents around him whom looked very keystone Coppers . But it was real.
It was definitely staged. Listen to Dr Shiva Ayadurai$. He called it out first but the sheeple attacked him as usual. The man is very smart and a system analyst, has 4 PhDs from MIT. ☺️

Thanks for a wonderfully biting, honest and incisive interview. I agree entirely with what I am hearing which is worrying as I think that, unless the US empire dies soon, the world is doomed. I keep thinking of the collapse of the Roman Empire. I pray that Dmitry is right although I worry that he is too sensible whereas the West is collectively insane. Why, when we have all of these brilliant minds we are honoured to have on this programme, are we ruled by lunatics?

The Greek Shareholder may try to use Trump as a cover for a face saving turn from Ukraine or keep going until the Excuse for Substituting the Dollar with Digital Central Bank Currency becomes strong enough. They have to justify this Economic Coup somehow and rationalise it for their serfs in the US.
