Bunch of fake news Microsoft won’t buy steam gabe hates Microsoft
@@jameskopp2563if anything, Valve should buy Xbox division
@@jameskopp2563 Valve needs to buy Xbox
Valve are not dumb enough to sell to Microsoft
Famous last words
I also don't think it will happen but Steam is not like other big companies: it's completely owned by one person
But... Gabe Newell was member of Microsoft that spent 30 years... I wonder why microsoft is interessing in jump in so many companies so much anyway wtf.... first he wanted to buy Playstation and then Nintendo no one interested. and tried then Activision and Blizzard and then bethesda , id software are microsoft games went sucess but in back games of bethesda are containing bugs and microsoft demissed many employees....
Valve is dumb enough to make an overwatch clone.
Correction: Gabe is not dumb enough, but he will not be around forever.
Valve makes around 10 billion in yearly revenue according to most articles I've seen. 16 billion dollars seems a little low, not to mention Microsoft could face an anticompetitive lawsuit over this purchase, Valve is VERY into Linux gaming with Proton and the Steamdeck, and you can bet Microsoft would kill those divisions.
Yeah, the anti-trust thing was my first thought. MS already faced a shitshow over their ABK acquisition, and the fallout from that has been monstrous to the games industry. Even if Valve did sell, which they absolutely wouldn't in their right minds, in my opinion, the amount of anti-trust lawsuits and public backlash they would face would be immense. Steam basically already has a (mercifully benevolent) monopoly on PC gaming as it is, MS trying to buy them out with as much of the PC market share that they own? There's not a chance any sane regulatory body would allow it.
I'm also considering to switch to Linux as well when I get additional SSD
16 billion is SUPER low for something like Valve. That's practically a spit on their face
@@IfritBoi Not super low at all. The revenue was $13 billion. The company is worth 7.7 billion. Its definitely fair.
@@shanea6231if it's something like steam then yes. It's definitely a low-ball considering almost everyone that plays PC games goes through valve one way or another lol
MS just spent 70 billion on Blizzard/Activision.... Doubt they want to spend more money right now... also 16B is WAY too low for how huge Steam is...
Valve makes about 13 billion per year. That's without calculating the cost of running the company but it's still a lot of money. The only way Microsoft can buy Valve is if they buy Gabe Newel's shares.
Valve is a private company. There are no shares to buy because it's not listed as a shareholding company
@@NanomachineExE That the company is on an open share market or not doesn't matter. As long as Gabe Newell owns at least 51% of the company, what he says goes. Gabe does indeed own the majority share of Valve so Microsoft would have to personally buy it from Gabe either way.
70 billion was the spending money for that quarter
if Microsoft buys steam, I stop buying games

"Bad for gaming" doesn't even begin to describe how terrible Microsoft buying out Steam would be.
I don't think they can, they struggled to acquire activision.
The rumor is bullshit, Gabe Newell wouldn't sell. Either way, what exactly do you expect to happen? In the gaming space Microsoft's track record for consumer friendly/hostile behaviour is still considerably better then Nintendo, Sony, Ubisoft, Tencent and most other big names.
@@XirtamaniThey would kill VR for one. And before anyone makes light of that, as though that would be no big deal or loss, those of us that have literally thousands invested in it by way not just of games/software but simulator equipment for racing, flight, and space sims, and much more, would strongly disagree.
@@c.g.vonhagenstein7576LOL valve didn't invent VR
@@randallbro6749
That wasn't the implication. While Meta Quest occupies the largest percentage of the standalone VR market, those that mostly play PC-based VR play the vast majority of those titles via Valve's SteamVR. If Microsoft halts all SteamVR development or worse (I doubt Valve would sell to M.S. but stranger things have occurred), it will be a huge blow, probably a death-blow, to the PCVR market, leaving Meta essentially having a monopoly in consumer VR. And while no, Valve didn't invent VR, they were one of the first companies to make a consumer VR product possible (Valve helped develop the HTC Vive tech).
Microsoft keep your grubby mits off of Valve and Steam. You've done enough damage...
let this be a rumor forever until the sun explodes
I'd say way after the sun explodes, if Steam still exists if we've colonized other Earth like planets by then. Lol.
In that case, lucky for us we still got 4 billion years before that happens. lol

You're very welcome. As for seeing Microsoft buying steam, hopefully that doesn't happen. Everything that Microsoft's touched, much like how Disney and Warner Brothers did in the movie industry, becomes nothing more than fool's gold of a much better product. @@MrSujano Thanks Mr. Sujano. =)
The Valve rumor could easily just be an idea that was floated around during a board meeting.
When there were rumors that Microsoft was thinking about porting Halo The Master Chief Collection to PS4, there was some truth to it, but it was nothing more than a very brief "What if?" thought tossed around during a meeting.
Gabe Newell is the sole owner of Valve with no investors or a board of directors to answer to. I can't imagine that, with all of the billions of dollars he already has, he would turn around and say "Yeah, I think I'm gonna need about $16 Billion to be happy in life. Here's my life's work Microsoft..."
If Microsoft buys steam it could be catastrophic for games. Valve is a private company. They manage to just coast by and for the most part we all trust them. But the problem with that is that they’re not gonna be around forever. Maybe when Gabe dies his successor might want to try and take steam a different more radical way. The one thing that I’m worried about is they have drm systems baked into steam. It’s not like gog where all you have to do is find the installer and it just works. You can’t have steam games without steam. And that’s what scares me the most. Steam leads the pc market and for good reason. But they are not perfect. If valve gets bought up by Microsoft thousands of games are at risk of being lost forever
Gabe Newell was member of Microsoft that spent 30 years... I wonder why microsoft aka "Phil Spencer" is interessing in jump in so many companies so much anyway wtf....
@elwen8525
Why is that? The thing with 1000s of games being at risk. I don't get how they could get lost in the process.
@@clausjahnel5379 so gog prides its self on being drm free (digital rights management) you don’t need gog galaxy, steam, or any launcher to play the games they sell on gog. You can’t play steam games without downloading steam. If Microsoft buys valve and does an oopsie and then shuts them down. There’s a chance that all their games become unpurchasable. You see this constantly with publishers taking games off of steam. Sure the people who bought the game are fine but what about the people who never bought the game before? No one knows how to pirate games or the torrents get lost to time and then the games fade into obscurity
@@elwen8525The situation isn't that bad, but it's going to become harder to get some games. A few games on steam are DRM-free, it's always up to the company if they want to include the steam DRM and/or any other DRM like Denuvo. Also, a lot of games only have the steam DRM which can be easily bypassed. And you'll be surprised by how much data people archive, I personally keep copies of a lot of game installers, series, music even webpages and UA-cam videos.
There's something so charming about getting retro news in the most retro place of all - the great outdoors.

Microsoft buying steam would totally suck.
Microsoft is already a PC software monopoly. It needs to be broken up. It should have been broken up years ago.

Valve is worth much, much more than 16 billions. They are leader in PC gaming, more active players than Playstation or Xbox, is 100% owned, don't need to please shareholders.

MS is a real plague to the gaming industry. F MS
16 billion is not enough to buy Valve's cash cow. 😅
I believe Microsoft should just quit trying to buying new toys, they already halted the fxxking industry the _last_ time they tried this. As a matter of fact, I have a feeling the FTC or whatever won’t nearly be as Merciful with them as they were
Edit: I’m likely going to change OS’s as a result of them being crazy with these unhelpful updates, it’s just a matter of figuring out which one to switch to, and I’ll be happy to take suggestions
If it was $160 billion for Valve then I might believe it. Though even at that I'd still think it was a lowball offer.
Microsoft needs to leave gaming. We dont want them anymore. They are destroyers that ruin everything they get close to.
If Microsoft buy Steam, I’m done with with Steam and my Steam Deck.
Valve won't sell to Microsoft. Gabe hates that company. And it is private, no shareholders to make decisions. And 60 or 70 billion for Activision and only (relative use here) 16 billion for Valve? Doesn't make sense.
There is a setting in regards to Recall that will turn off the saving of screenshots. 😉

Microsoft is not buying steam thank god.. I think that was debunked before your camping trip
if microsoft bought steam i'd pack up and leave, but i don't think there would be anywhere left to go :(
this would likely kill a lot of gaming on linux, as well as proton development, and that doesn't even begin to describe what would happen to stuff like Playstation's PC Ports or the future of the Steam Deck...
I love it when my sauce is open
16 Billion?. valve is probably worth 160 billion
I think the whole steam getting bought out by Microsoft is fake. There’s just no way. They literally spent 44 billion on Activision. I know Microsoft is one of the biggest companies in the world that wants to own everything… But I honestly think Valves value is definitely higher than people think. With all the steam sales they have my wallet is suffering but not Steam. Biggest storefront on PC too. Just my opinion.
Does the setup on retroarch still the same?
It wouldn't be a problem to them since ios is ez
But idk about how would they get games on their browser bypassing the very security of the phone
Hey @MrSujano its not just a gorgeous evening but you are also on a beautifull place :)
Microsoft would be a horrifying choice to see Steam to. ANY of the big names would be right now due to all the idiots that are currently in charge right now.
I mean heck, the Copilot thing is already a huge reason why they shouldn't be trusted.

Never will happen gabe hates Microsoft with a passion
Microsoft needs to bugger off.
How could Microsoft buy Steam if Gabe hates Microsoft?
Also, that will be the end to Gaming on Linux, since Valve puts so much resources into developing Proton.
He never said that. Ever.
He hates the algorithm of Apple's app model and how Microsoft was attempting to adapt to that. Either way, Gabe would never sell out to Microsoft since a huge chunk of their resources are put into Proton and Linux support and that would be a huge blow to PC gaming as a whole. Gabe always had a pro-gamer philosophy when it came to marketing
Microsoft buying steam is a terrible outcome they would probably close it all together like they have been doing to game studios.
How do these sorts of rumors even get traction? Did people already forget just how drawn out the MS acquisition of ABK was? How that almost got shot down for it giving MS a monopoly? And that's absolutely nothing compared to the idea of them buying Steam, the platform where almost all PC game sales take place. There is zero chance that would get regulatory approval, for one, and $16 billion for it? MS paid $68.7 billion for ABK. So let's all take a deep breath, think about this rationally, laugh at the stupidity of the idea, and move on.
Mr sujano, you should talk about the google ai deppression thing
Thanks for the news! :)
There is a massive reason microsoft buying valve is unlikely to happen. Regulation. Microsoft is the king of acquisitions and they want to keep regulators on their side while the ai war is heating up. It would be stupid to look like they're buying up one industry while they need regulators to approve ai purchases.
Mr. Sujano might as well just sell his house 🤣 Also, 16 bill wont come close to being enough for Valve.
Where are time stamps?
"microsoft to buy Valve for basically pennies and potentially facing a giant anti-trust lawsuit"
Yeah right. It's more likely that they'll buy Apple than Valve.
Anyone have that AKNES discord server link?
How does sudachi improving yuzu code? I thought they need to study it by 2 years before making improvements?
steam doing good job.
Kinda need to get the older games working better on new platform. since they have a client.
Whoever doesn't charge a service fee i suppose. Getting the game and playing is the most in portent thing.
16 billion for steam 100% no. steam is worth more than 16 billion on top of that gabe will never accept the offer from microsoft he left microsoft for a reason plus the poor management of their studios and the FTC will not support it
Valve I trust, Microsoft I DO NOT.
That would be a piss poor plan on Valves part and i dont see this ever actually happening. Microsoft ruins everything they touch and its time they stepped down from gaming and stick to making work apps its all they are still remotely decent at. Steam OS is postured to destroy windows and they should do just that. Arch linux wont ever belong to microsoft.
With Steam and their games, Gabe has more than enough money to fall on for retirement, and I think he's much wiser to selling to the company he left to make Valve in the first place.
Microsoft ? Bad news. Great video Mr. Su
time stamps thx ...
Hope it's just a rumor/won't go through because i'll stop buying games alltogether were that to happen. Can't buy in GOG in my region not to mention CD PROJEKT RED has gone woke and i don't support that, EGS i already hate and won't touch with a 100-foot pole. Still supporting indies i like but if that'll mean giving a single cent to Microshaft? Yeah, no, hell no, will just go full piracy in that case. And don't get me started on how this'll cripple Proton and Linux support in general, high possibility of them forcing users to install win 11 to use it if they were to acquire steam, too.
@suwietch7783 I know full well how buying games digital works. Doesn't change the fact that Microsoft buying Valve/Steam out would make things way worse than they already are.
As for Proton/Wine, Valve still provides support to it, monetary or otherwise, if Microsoft were to buy them out that'd end because Linux/Ubuntu distros is just more competition to them.
@suwietch7783 Care to elaborate what it tells about me, then? Because i sure as hell don't see a single problem with not liking woke shit infesting my hobbies.
Microsoft has no chance to buy valve / steam.
hmmm, Microsoft buying steam, this reminds me when it wanted to acquire Yahoo, which Yahoo denied but, 60bn Dollars, ohhhhh well, u can literally own few cities with that kinda money so, i don't know, what would have i done if i was Valve's owner
Microsoft after buying steam:
Windows 11 required to play steam games.☠️☠️
Copilot (as well as stack overflow and a friend of a friend) completely failed to help me compile N64Recomp the other day. I really want to port StarCraft 64 to PC (I know this sounds mad, I have my reasons) but it was leaving out steps, missing obvious details, and it could not figure out the Access Denied error I kept getting in the home stretch. (though neither could anything else, so maybe the last bit isn't it's fault)
Copilot has a ways to go before it's even worth using imo; especially when it can't even help a newbie compile a program unless the have at least a little knowledge to fill in the missing bits.
What ARE your reasons for wanting to port that?
@@Varian-Killbot StarCraft was a huge part of my teen years, and I played almost every day for over 4 years. Nowadays I have early onset osteoarthritis and using a keyboard and mouse in general for long hurts, so almost all of my gaming is on controller these days. The PC version does not support controller, and using something like Steam Input to workaround it like I do in other genres, would not work well in an RTS, but the 64 version exists, supports controller, and also has a co-op mission that was never on PC.
I know I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants this, that's why I tried to do it myself. (I have some ideas for improvements to it too, kinda like the extra we see in the Perfect Dark port)
@@RolandHazoto Okay, that's actually an extremely vaid reason, to the point where I kind of have to do a 180 here and root for your success. There's gotta be other people out there who would also appreciate the controller support.
@@Varian-Killbot The sentiment is appreciated.
For now I'm at a standstill because Visual Studio wouldn't even finish the compile no matter where I put the folder, and even if I pull that off I don't really understand how to make the needed bespoke toml file, so I don't know how far I'll get but 1 step at a time and all that jazz...
If Microsoft buy steam, I'll live a new life and sell my pc
