He kept growing and expanding, un afraid, music was his passion and he proved it, over and over. He wrote, knowing, those weren't just words, but an expression of who he was and eventually the thing that killed him.
You are the road that I will travel You are the words I write You are the ocean I will swallow You are the wind I ride You are the cause to keep my head up high I will survive You gotta know I'll stay beside you Right till the day I die I don't want to change anymore I've already paid (Said, I've already paid) I don't have to pray anymore Because my soul has been saved And now Whenever I come, whenever I go No, you're never far away, far away Never far away You're the blood that's in my veins You're my second skin, skin I'm a feather on the wind You will bring me in Every heart should have a beat Every night a dream Every king should have a queen Every saint a sin I don't want to change anymore (I don't want to change) I've already paid (Said, I've already paid) I don't have to pray anymore Because my soul has been saved (Been saved) Whenever I come, whenever I go No, you're never far away, far away Never far away When I go hot you make sure I don't break Gimme life inside of heaven's gates, I know (Heaven, heaven) You taught me how to live like [unverified] Gave me definition for the worst I know That there ain't no space between you and me Whenever I come, whenever I go No you're never far away, far away Never far away www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chriscornell/neverfaraway.html
No doubt written for his wife, Vicky - His voice is so sweat, soft and tender - yet reveals the great pain he fought against most of his life due to a fragile mind and probably also the divorce of his parents when he was a child - I have nothing but gratitude towards Chris Cornell and all the beauty he brought into this world with both his lyrics and songs - and most importend his tender personality. This song inspired me to a poem. It is written for my best friend and life companion (originally written in danish) You ARE You are the road that I travel Words my mouth speak The heart within me beating Colors painted by my very eyes You are my soul when it shines Life itself touched by my own two hands All the love my heart gives away Light within - until all evil dies
muchisimas gracias por subirlo esta genial!!! abrazo desde Argentina!! Very very very thanks for share it! its great!! chris it's the best!! greetings from Argentina!!
There is already acoustic version of the Scream song, search for it. I like Never Far Away but I'll also love to see new album by Audioslave/Soundgarden. :) As long as Cornell makes songs, I'll be pleased.
De- Timbaland-ized!! good one. I hope Chris De-Timbaland-izes the whole album! It's like Chris wrote a bunch of great song as usual, then gave it to Timbaland to produce it and the dude said: " I'm gonna screw you! I'm sick of you doing good music for over 20 years!"
i don't know how to say...but let me put it this way. all i can say is that both the original and the remake are two different piece of genre, electronic rock and pop rock. but somehow, i pick the original (the power in it). maybe it's rearranged just too little. or maybe it's just raw. it doesn't surprise me compared to Long Gone (though i prefer both in different ways). this is just a demo right?...let's see if it could surprise me when it's done. Rock On!!! \m/
I respect his decision to experiment and cross genres. But still didn't like the last album. But I've been a fan for 10 years and one poor album won't change that, can't wait for the next one.
what id like to know is if Jordan z just played guitar..or wrote the lyrics too because u and maynard are a toss up for my fav vocalist..but jordan z is so secretive..lol but its all cool..and im sure jordan z references me the odd time.. but i dont always keep a good public image...but whod want too..lol
it's good and its cool that he's remaking the album into rock, but something about it just doesnt feel right. when people were criticizing him for doing the album with timbaland i thought it was interesting, definitely not his best stuff, but if thats what he wanted to doe he shouldve just stuck with it
tom morello isnt that great of a guitarist, too many effects alienate the song.........listen to chris singing audioslave acoustically alone(such as the unplugged in sweden bootleg......amazing)
Rest in Peace, Chris Cornell

You are the road that I will travel
You are the words I write
You are the ocean I will swallow
You are the wind I ride
You are the cause to keep my head up high
I will survive
You gotta know I'll stay beside you
Right till the day I die
I don't want to change anymore
I've already paid
(Said, I've already paid)
I don't have to pray anymore
Because my soul has been saved
And now
Whenever I come, whenever I go
No, you're never far away, far away
Never far away
You're the blood that's in my veins
You're my second skin, skin
I'm a feather on the wind
You will bring me in
Every heart should have a beat
Every night a dream
Every king should have a queen
Every saint a sin
I don't want to change anymore
(I don't want to change)
I've already paid
(Said, I've already paid)
I don't have to pray anymore
Because my soul has been saved
(Been saved)
Whenever I come, whenever I go
No, you're never far away, far away
Never far away
When I go hot you make sure I don't break
Gimme life inside of heaven's gates, I know
(Heaven, heaven)
You taught me how to live like [unverified]
Gave me definition for the worst I know
That there ain't no space between you and me
Whenever I come, whenever I go
No you're never far away, far away
Never far away

gotta say, i reckon the Timbaland version is the better one. He knew what he was doin. ;)

This song was written about Linda Wilson, Chris Cornells first real stalker.

@gabrielaloveschris haha hilarious
Two seconds into the other one and I'm sure.
It's good but the original version is TERRIFIC. Get it on Chris Cornell's album "Scream".
