If you decide to revisit this elevator you will notice that the alarm bell was recently removed which I think that at some point that they determined that it was unnecessary to have a bell that loud hooked up to a freight elevator and possibly they received multiple complaints about it going off every time that the elevator is used and it also sounds like the fire alarm going off. Although I don't work at the king of prussia mall but that's what my opinion is on them removing the alarm bell.
@@andreawinkler9651 I've ridden it. There's a video of it on my channel. Plus, Owenhinton and many others uploaded a video of it with the bell removed.
That store employee was actually quite nice, I wonder why... And now that I'm re-watching this video 13 years since it has been uploaded I realize that there weren't any security cameras in the service corridor, loading dock and freight elevator lobby. How could it have been like this ? Aren't there cameras everywhere nowadays ?
This was the sister to the former Abraham & Strauss stores at Short Hills and Willow Grove. Short Hills originally had an Otis (passenger), until it was modded by Schindler. However, the Willow Grove location had a Westinghouse, at least when it was Strawbridge's, because I remember that store when it was Strawbridge's (the Willow Grove location). Hence, this may have originally been a Westinghouse, unless the Westinghouse at the Willow Grove location was installed by Strawbridge's in 1988 when they moved in, which would have made it one of the last Westinghouses ever installed. We may never know for sure, unless we see Pennsylvania elevator records.
I'm quite happy that from all of the elevators I've used, none of them would sound an unnecessary alarm that just sounded like an annoyance. Especially because I have moderate hearing impairment and use hearing aids.
The video is uploading. They told me I shouldn't use it if I am not handling freight. ALL of the doors to the service corridors in that mall are always open...
@owenhinton yeah, I filmed it, and got stuck in it. It is in the Pavilion (former A&S/Strawbridge's), and is down the corridor between Borders and Eurocraft (former Golfdom) on 2, and between DSW Shoes and Nestology on 1. It is very hard/confusing to access on 3... Like I warned you before, DO NOT take the elevator to the 2nd floor, as you have a 95% chance of getting stuck. I wouldn't start it their either as it could get stuck as it answers your call...
That's pretty much what I get recording an elevator by a Simon (or store) employee, or no reaction. Glad it went well, except for the annoyance factor.
This be an OTIS. I have proof that Short Hills is, also A&S and opened the same year with a similar freight. The only reason that has OTIS doors and this has Courion is that OTIS doors stopped being made that year, sometime between Short Hills and here. you can put OTIS int he title BTW

At least the employee was a nice one. I'm planning on heading out there Wednesday. May or may not do any filming as it is a busy mall. Don't think I'll go for the freight elevator though.
Truth be told, most freight elevators nowadays have an electric eye on the door. This is so that if someone or something is blocking the door, The door will not shut on them/it.
