"When we are children, it is effortless," I'm a teen writer and I had like an imagination overload and that's why I started writing. To be honest my ideas freak me out sometimes and my parent generally concer. But if I lose these ideas as an adult then I don't wanna grow up😂

In a future podcast, you should talk about source material and outlining tips. That would be super helpful! Please and thank you!

I remember (reading in "A Moveable Feast"), when Hemmingway finished w/ a writing session, it wasn't at the end of a scene or chapter but after the first sentence of the following scene or chapter. This way, was able to get into his groove a little quicker the next day...

I write scenes out of order when they pop into my head all the time, especially when I'm at my day job. It's like getting bonus points in a video game when I get to one of those bits that I've already banked and copy it in for a free word count boost. I typically need to rewrite some of it to get it to flow right, but still.

Today’s episode is brought to you by the word “flow”, the color “white” and the good folks at Ricola! Don’t let pesky throat irritation get in the way of pitching your 30 second book summary at Thanksgiving dinner to your cousin, Josh who works in marketing.
REEE-COLA! We work fast, so you can too!

For me, leaving the house to go write in a public space works great. Hundreds of strangers may pass me by... yet none of them need me to go make them a sandwich. It's quite beautiful lol

And I feel chosen. Like you all are so busy in this reality and while my body is here with you I am in fact not here with you. It’s grand! 😅

For first draft slip I like hand writing it on paper. There’s just something about it. It’s been many years and I still haven’t finished my first book. I’m an adult now and not a freshman in high school, but I still have my daydreams that give me ideas on how to work on the book I’ve been working on. I want to make a series. I just need to get out of this tense protectionist mindset that I have right now. With the first draft I flowed right throw it because I was just putting ideas down, and now I have to make it consistent.

We need a meditation about reverse engineering the writing faster pressure mindset. I’m so guilty of struggling with this but have made great progress in taking off the pressure. Been filling my cup with some really neat drawings of my characters and working out some details for introducing and showing my MC’s internal conflict. I’d say Preptober is going excellent so far.

I run all of my first draft writing through my editing software program so I can't get it all right the first time. This keeps me from needing to go back and revise my manuscript later.

    Advice Summary
    1. Dont think about writing faster, that is a lot of pressure.
    2. Have a writing space
    3. Writing sprints
    4. Write at a moment where you are most inspired (for me at night)
    5. Meal prep

I'm so much more like Abbie than Kate. 😅 I'm a plotter to the core and I'm always coming up with dialogue and scenes aeons in advance.

I love the idea of playlists, but I don't really understand how to make one. Do you just choose songs that you like, or what? How do you specifically make one for a certain book you are writing?

    • @angeliarellano1882
      @angeliarellano1882 2 роки тому +3

A playlist would be a collection of songs you like, but i think what would work to "get you in the flow" are songs that fuel or inspire a certain idea (or character, or event, or any aspect of your story basically). Try looking up POV or -core playlists on youtube, theyre very in-character for some stories and might inspire you too.

Move your halo light off to the side (better yet get a second one and use one on each side to balance the light instead of head-on) or cover your computer screen with something (fabric or prop a board in front). The reflection is distracting especially with the white ampersand in front of the white reflection.
