Omar Abdullah while addressing a rally in Bandipora said that ban on Jamaat-e-Islami should be revoked. Jamaat-e-Islami was banned in 2019 by the BJP government at the centre, under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Omar said, “I have already made demand that the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami should be revoked, and they should contest in the upcoming assembly election. Isn’t it weird that Home Minister is abandoning his campaign and coming here for two days, where BJP is not even contesting? He must be coming to harm National Conference in some way.”
