  • The Richmond Pacific is a shortline serving Richmond, California that connects the Union Pacific and BNSF as well as serving a number of industries. The newest locomotives on the property are Knoxville Locomotive Works SE15B units with 1560 horsepower. Here, Richmond Pacific 2016, the newer of the two, for its first time picks up loaded coal hopper cars from the Union Pacific at Stege and takes them away to be shipped overseas. Amtrak and BNSF are also seen around the Stege Wye area, with Richmond Pacific 2016 again. Number 2017 is also seen in the area of Wright Ave and Harbour Way. Then back to 2016 at Cutting Boulevard. Lots of horn blasts from the friendly crews! All taken on January 13, 2018.

I can't identify horns yet, but that switchers horn crushed it! Good catch.

Reading the thumbnail for some reason I thought it would be Richmond, VA, lol. I didn't even know there was a locomotive manufacturer in Knoxville. I'm assuming that's Knoxville, TN? If so, they had a long trip to get out there, didn't they. I wonder, when they deliver them if they run them under their own power there or do they load them up on something to bring them there? If one was the buyer by the time they drove them there you could say, hey, these things are used and already have over 3,000 miles on them, hehehe. I do know of Republic locomotives in South Carolina, but I think they only manufacture a switcher type locomotive.

Also, nice to see a railroad with a caboose that isn't all boarded over being used.

Hi, I understand they were taken in a BNSF train that came via Memphis but they were not under power. They came separately but only a couple weeks apart, I believe.

We have a microwave in it, water cooler, small closet for storage, etc. We really just use it as a shoving platform, but it’s a luxury for sure

I think people like how they have something of a classic EMD look to them (although long) and they're not gensets.
