Bruh, this is a game changer. They have definitely set a new standard that others will have no choice but to follow. 🔥
Not quite. You have the option to burn higher quality fuels and get the ease of use too
You were the first person in my feed to post on this new release… so glad it’s getting good reviews. Glad I can count on guys like you to keep us informed 🔥
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! I’m very excited about this grill

Been watching the teasers all week and pulled the trigger as soon as it was available. Your great review made me even more excited. Thank you!
Awesome! If you enjoyed the video and feel up to it, consider using my affiliate link.
Man, game changer is the main thing that comes to mind when you see the smoke drawer! Very cool and innovative, can't wait to get my hands on one sometime! Great review!
Yeah the smoke box is legit! Jeremy posted a brisket companion last night… Check it out, it’ll blow your mind how different it actually is!
Interesting design and tech. I cant wait to see this in person. great overview brother.
It really makes a difference in smoke flavor and profile! unlike any pellet grill that I have ever used
I didn’t have a chance to watch this before your live tonight. Now I really want one!😊
Yeah these new Woodwind Pros have a lot to offer the pellet grill community! Just wait until you see some food off this thing! Did you see Jeremy’s brisket comparison in his video?
Hey Andrew, Thank you for the detailed overview! Looking forward to seeing your cooks on this. 👍
Another great video. That look to be a great grill. The new feature is amazing. Can't wait to see a video of you smoking on it.
I'm might get one. I know the competition will have a response and thats great for the consumer. Spring/ Summer 2023 is going to be very interesting. Great Job to Camp Chef for shooting the 1st shot 👏!!
Hey Andrew, appreciate the reviews! I am struggling to decide between the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro and the Masterbuilt Gravity 800 (With some LSS) mods. What are your thoughts on the comparison? I saw Hey Grill Hey did a comparison and the CC resulted in a better looking end product, but they preferred the flavor coming off the Masterbuilt. Your thoughts? Also, the Masterbuilt looks to be using lesser quality materials. What is your opinion on construction and longevity of both smokers?
Do you have any pros and cons on this grill? It looks awesome
Not at this time! At this point I have truly enjoyed cooking with this Woodwind Pro and we've really enjoyed the food that has come off it!
That grill is SWEEET! But let me get one of those hats!
Grill looks great. Ill consider this option come spring. 😁
Will use link for sure.
Awesome I appreciate that! It's going to be a great buy for anyone looking for a nice robust smoke with the set it and forget it features of a pellet grill!
Can't wait for this to reach the UK. In the meantime, I'm working on getting a Masterbuilt Gravity.
Just as a matter of follow up to my previous remarks. I called Camp Chef. 1. There is no front available because of the smoke box.2. The hopper size is 22 pounds. 3. For those of us with a sear box as opposed to the sidekick the sear box will fit. 4. There is a specific heat blanket available as an option. 5. Finally there is no specific all weather cover for it. You would need to get either the 24 or 36 cover and maybe tuck it in or under the cover. The grill is a very interesting concept however. I can readily see some of the advantages. Considering how much money, over $1500 invested in my Deluxe 24 with no caster legs and 17 pound hopper, this is definitely a much better buy.
@@bryanpetricig8488 Nope. I called Camp Chef today and asked. The smoke box in the front doesn't allow for a front shelf.
They are looking into what options they may have, but nothing is guaranteed at the moment
This looks SICK! I can’t wait to get some experience with my SG30 before I look at this thing. It’s on the list though, for sure.
Wondering if you can do steak on here where it gives it a good sear ?
So the smoke box needs to be re-loaded every 2 to 3 hours? I've been doing briskets on a gas grill with 2 smoker boxes and those I need to tend to every 45 minutes, and on top of that I have to open the lid on the grill every time. My briskets taste great, but I've never been able to get a smoke ring on mine for some reason. I'm interested in a pellet smoker to make things more convenient and possibly make my briskets even better. I tend to do my briskets over night the night before I want to eat them and it's always a late night and usually end up falling asleep in my chair in the process. I know a lot of people tell me to get an offset stick burner, but that sounds like it's gonna be even more work than what I'm doing now.
As far as smoke flavor, how does it compare to a gravity-fed such as Masterbuilt or Chargriller 980?
This closes the gap for sure! Very soon I’ll be doing a legit side by side cook off between them!
I couldn't agree with you more about wheels on all four legs. I've been waiting for over a year for castor legs for my Deluxe 35. Cam Chef, in my opinion needs to step back and resolve their supply line issues. It took nearly two weeks to get my WiFi Gen 2 controller. Amazon, same price, three days. For the money your pro 24 close to what I have currently have invested in y 24. I could take my sear box off and put it on this grill. My jerky racks would also work on the 24 model. Only thing different is a cover and heat blanket for it. I wonder about is the hopper capacity. Hopefully they'll have that in the specs.
This one has a 22lb hopper, so on par with the rest of them. In terms of the legs and supply chain, I can’t really speak to that but this new grill is very exciting! Most of your accessories would be compatible except the blanket
For me it never fails, last spring I purchased the Pit Boss 1150 PS2 and my biggest concern is , not enough smoke , I wish the Wood wind had been available then , because hands down it is the king of the pellet smokers , and would love to have one. 😢
That was an amazing review. And Camp Chef themselves approve so thats amazing. Subbed.
How does food cooked on this compare to MasterBuilt and Char-Griller gravity smokers?
Great overview! Is the Camp Shelf FRONT shelf compatible with the WW Pro? I have a WW 36 and love the front shelf but it doesn't look like the new design will allow for one.
The current front shelf will NOT work, but Camp Chef is currently investigating the options.
So just watched your video and also watched the video with you giving your opinion on the Masterbuilt. So, which one would give you more of the wood smoke that pellet user want, since you can add wood chunks to both
They are still different, but this really tightened the gap. I think if I look at the overall package I have to lean slightly more towards the camp chef because the build quality is substantially better on this Camp Chef. Now remember it is close to double the price, and for some people that'll be the deciding factor.
Awesome, great, perfect detailed review! Thank you, I’m interested in one
Great review on the grill. My question is how accurate is it at maintaining a temperature? For example when you open the grill to check something and it obviously losses heat, how accurate is it when coming back up to temp without wildly over shooting your set temoerature? Thanks for another great video.
It does a great job at recovering from opening the lid. I’ve got dozens of hours on this grill so far and haven’t noticed any problems or issues with temperatures
Would love to see you do a side by side comparison with the Camp Chef and the Lone Star Grillz Pellet smoker. It would be great to see the smoke comparison and the overall taste between the two.
I'd love to, but I dont know if it's in my budget to purchase the Lone Star
This looks game changing does it produce better results than the Yoder?
I don’t Peru have a Yoder but I can say that from my conversations with other UA-camrs and my own experiences, there isn’t a pellet grill on the market right now that can reach these smoke levels
I can definitely see the smoldering wood chunks causing bitter smoke if the vent is kept closed. Definitely like smoke tray idea though. Might have to get one just to tinker with. We all should just stop comparing pellet grills to offsets though. Smoldering wood chunks will not produce the same flavor as burning wood logs. Maybe if you kept the vent open on that box, but then you would be burning through chunks pretty fast. Even Jeremy said it was a different flavor profile than an offset.
Yeah, you can keep the butterfly valve open a little to get my fire on then wood for a cleaner burn if you want.
I have a sear box on my 24ZG and love it! Will it fit on this Woodwind Pro? Is there a hook to place the propane tank on?
I believe that It uses the same holes that the sidekick does. Doesn’t the sear box come with the bracket to mount on the back of the leg/body?
@@AndersonsSmokeShow Yes, the "hook" came with the sear box. My question is are the mounting holes the same for the Hook as on my 24ZG?
Great overview! Curious, are you able to hit 500 F on this WW pro?
I have a question regarding the rear vents. Are they used strictly for smoke control are are they a air flow feature. I know the grill has a fan but I have to put the grill up against a wall. Thanks for any response.
It’s also for airflow/heat control. On cold months close them a little, warm months leave them more open
This sounds like it eliminates a ton of factors for the backyard bbq-ers like myself as I am impressed! How is it for holding ambient temp? Would I need a digital thermometer to be sure of the cooking temp?
Due to vision issues, I'm retiring from offset smoking. This looks like a viable option. But I worry about longevity of this in Texas humidity. It would be on covered deck. Am I wasting my money if I bought this and it wasn't garage kept?
Thats a great question! Compared to other Camp Chef grills, this one is better built with better materials. I think that it will hold up better.... but honestly its so new that I'll have to keep you updated as mine gets more and more use.
I live about 6 miles from the ocean in Florida and my nearly 7 year old Camp Chef DLX Pro has very little rust. I’ve used a high quality Camp Chef cover for it and leave it outside.
A great review; thank you. I look forward to additional content. Just subscribed.
How would the chargrill 980 stand up to the wood wind pro? Is the wood wind pro worth the extra money?
Awesome. thanks for the detailed review. If you record a cook on it can you please explain the back vents a bit more? I would like to know how the adjustments affect the heat ect...Keep up the great work!
How does the smoke/flavor compare between this and the charcoal gravity smokers with wood chunks mixed into the charcoal in the hopper?
Another question is if I set temperature to say 225 Will that burning wood change the temperature it's really cooking at?
It doesn’t really have any effect on it. The controller can sense the temperature and adjust fan speed or the auger to accommodate. It runs like a CHAMP!
How hot will this cook?
First time getting a pellete grill and I decided on a camp chef pro. When it comes to pellets which one do you recommend? Is there a particular one that can be used to cook everything?
I personally prefer lumberjack pellets if you can find them. They have some good blends and they are truly transparent in the wood used and the blends
@@AndersonsSmokeShow I appreciate the reply. You do a great job and I’m learning a lot from you.
I’m so torn! My choice for bbqs are the masterbuilt 800 gravity series or the camp chef wood wind pro
Great overview! Curious, are you able to hit 500 on this WW pro?
Watched many videos for this grill, with many affiliate links. Many are helpful. Yours was the most helpful to me, and your channel could use from growth. I'll be using your link soon. I would also suggest starting a Patreon if you don't have one.
I appreciate that! In general I think my background gives me the ability to provide a different perspective than others! I don’t have one, just a small channel membership at the moment
@@AndersonsSmokeShow I would definitely look into it. Speaking for myself, at least, it's easier to have all subscriptions and donations and whatnot centralized in one place. That's a reason I like Patreon, because it covers UA-camrs, photographers, musicians, writers, etc... rather than having to monitor all subscriptions in multiple places. It might make the difference for some people.
Does this grill get hot pretty fast or does it take 10+ minutes? For the everyday easy cooks.
It depends on the temperature, but I’m running in most cases in about 6-7min
How would you compare the woodwind pro vs Char griller gravity vs Weber smoke fire … those are my 3 current options.
I did a comparison between the WWPro and Masterbuilt Gravity Series... that should answer the WWPro vs Char Griller question. As far as the smokefire I'm not sure as I've never used one... but what I can say is that I've never got the results from a pellet grill that I am seeing on the WWPro. Not even close.
Nice video! Im in the fence. Idk what smoker to get next. This one or the rt1250 or the new smokefire sear plus.
The WWPro is a smoke machine. If you are looking for more of a smoker than a grill, then the WWPRO is the way to go
@@AndersonsSmokeShow hey. Im waiting for you to drop the xxl video. I ordered an Argentinian grill so, what I want now is a smoker.
I’m a Rectec guy, but this looks pretty nice!
This one closes the gap on quality and with that smoke box it truly has a lot to offer
I'm in search for a new grill, how would you compare this grill to the masterbuilt gravity 800 series? Which one givers a more traditional offset smoker flavor?
Awesome review! By any chance does anyone know if the painted lid on the woodwind pro is stainless steel or not? I would hope that it is!
Ordered mine already arriving in Monday can't wait to get smoking on it
Just ordered mine yesterday 🎉
So what you think would be better The XXL pro vertical smoker or this camshaft with the smoke box which one is actually built better thicker I have a masterbuilt right now which is starting to fall apart and I've never used it as a grill but mainly as a smoker so if you can give me some insight on which one you would go with I want a well built one I heard the XXL pro is a little bit more flimsier as if that's true can you let me know I have messaged you before about the XXL pro and I do live in Ohio too so like to see one of them in person both these grills in person
I think the build quality on the WWPro is better than the XXL Pro, but that’s to be expected with the price difference.
@@AndersonsSmokeShow what you think of the green mountain pellet smoker the lg one peak about same size of the camp chef????
@@AndersonsSmokeShow what do you think about the Green mountain or would you go with it cwoodwind pro???
I wish this came out when I bought mine, the paint is getting ugly. One spot where sauce dripped down the front ate the paint off!
Yeah I feel bad for anyone who recently bought a pellet grill… this one is the real deal
Very cool. How does smoke flavor compare to masterbuilt gravity?
I would say that the gap between pellet and gravity has tightened. I’m going to do a side by side comparison soon
How is the app? I do alot of overnight cooks. The Google review on the app has low reviews..
Curious how the smoke/flavor compares to the masterbuilt with a couple pieces of wood in the hopper? Also, does the butterfly valve feel like something that will loosen up over time and wouldn't stay in the position you set?
I don't personally see any issues with the butterfly valve. I will be doing some side by side comparisons between the Woodwind Pro and Masterbuilt 800 very VERY soon!
The main issue with my woodwind is rusting and warping of the drip tray and heat deflector. Is this all stainless steel now?
thanks
Can a person upgrade from woodwind Wi-Fi to a new cook chamber instead of buying all over. I have the model before this but don’t want to repurchase a new one.
Unfortunately Camp Chef had to redesign the grill completely in order to make space for the smoke box. There’s no way to upgrade any of their previous grills to a WW Pro
@@AndersonsSmokeShow thanks for the reply and info. That really is unfortunate. I would love the new mode but reinvesting is a no go for me.
Well the best option then would be to see if you can find a buyer for your current one and put that towards the new one…
Have you done a biscuit test yet? I'm wondering about temps from left to right
I have to wonder, why the wood box was not included int he design of the apex. also will be interesting to see how this compares to the RIPT smoker.
The Apex and Woodwind Pro are marketed to two completely different consumers. I will be doing a comparison here very soon! I'm not sure what to think of the RIPT... have to see what comes of it when its released. My concern with that is the supply of wood chips and the cost associated with it. No one is really selling them in larger quantities like we have with pellets.... and if you go pound for pound with the current offerings, the wood chips are going to cost much more. On top of that pellets are EXTREMELY dense and can provide a decent amount of heat... the same cannot be said about chips, which would then result in more fuel consumption. Its hard to really say when its still conceptual, but I am sure we will find out more soon now that the WW Pro is on the market!
Thank you for review. I have question about Cold smoke(only Fan) option and smoke box. Do I need burn it before and put inside of grill?
You’ll need to light it before… you can use a torch then use fan only…
This is more similar to an offset than the MB gravity charcoal? Could you do a cook comparison between the two?
Any idea if camp chef will make a retro smoke box add for older models?
I don’t think so. They had to lower the whole pellet mechanism to make room for the smoke box.
What gauge is the steel?
@@AndersonsSmokeShow thank you, I'm deciding between this and recteq
How would you compare this to the yoder ys 640?
Woodwind pro. Innovation or hype?
BUYER BEWARE. Woodwind Pro 24 owner here. Silicone inside the bottom of the woodwind pro is so poorly applied at the factory you'll have grease leaking out of the bottom onto whatever surface the grill is on. I have nice stains on my concrete drive after an initial cook. Contacted Customer Service. No return if the grill has been used. Good luck finding problems on a grill that hasn't been used. I was also told by CS that they can have issues with grease dripping out of the cooker with fatty cuts of meat. Is it just me? I was shocked with their statement. Maybe they don't realize BBQ involves fatty cuts of meat. I went from being very excited about this unit, to wishing I had spent more $$ with a different manufacturer.
Better than the Traeger ironwood 885?
I haven’t used that model Traeger, but with the smoke box on this new Camp Chef… I challenge any pellet grill to keep up.
What's the difference with this and the Apex?
The apex is the most versatile grill on the market especially with the sidekick! The Woodwind pro is more focused on the smoking aspect.
How hard is it to clean?
It hasn’t been too bad honestly. The new drip tray is way easier than the previous louvered one.
Wish I would have known this was coming out before I bought my camp chef woodwind a month and a half ago…
I know.... I'm sure there are a lot of people who are in the same boat...
Love camp chef but that price point is waaaay too high
When you compare it to the top tiers of the pellet grill market: Yoder, Traeger Ironwood & Timberline, RecTec…. This is more competitive in price and has more to offer.
DUUUUUUUUDDDEEEE
@@AndersonsSmokeShow now my request comes for a video explaining "how to convince your wife this is a 'need' not a 'want'" please. Hahaha this WILL be my next smoker 💯 just a matter of when not if.
Naw, I like the apex better. if I need extra smoke, Ill just use a smoke box.
wow, the price.....what a "Sinker"!
The price is very competitive with upper end pellet grills, in fact it’s cheaper than most of those top tier pellet grills and has more to offer
This sounds more like a PR video than a unbiased review.
There’s a lot of information to share about this grill, but I can assure you that it’s unbiased
Imagine paying 4k grand on a treager then this drops
Yeah considering you could get the total package with this and still save $2k…
1500?!!!! Not remotely worth that!
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder… but honestly this is very competitive with the upper tier pellet grills and has more to offer
@@AndersonsSmokeShow still not worth 1500 and it doesn’t have anything to justify that price!
