Very informative. Had the same issue with a snapped transformer lead --> LM7812. Took me ages to find it, due to the fact it was under the sealant and I wasn't so experienced enough so i could resolve it quickly.

This is just an FYI comment so thanks for another great repair video. But I am sure you know that if you have your PC (computer) playing audio to the input jack AND a waveform generator, the negative of that is essentially referenced to earth ground. I think when you use a cell phone (a spare in case it's damaged) then you keep that ref. off of your CPU saving it from damage just in case. Still watching and enjoying this video :)

I used to have the same soldering station and heat station all in one same as that one you do ..worked like a beast until I retired it 😂
My one occasionally drops out the heat gun for a few days then starts working again. Pretty annoying!

Same thing happened on my switch mode power supply. The transformer glue isn't holding it anymore! The wire are extended a bit to reduce the stretch and fatigue, then potted the thing with silicone. Definitely will never happen again.
Nice, a couple more videos like this and I'll be ready to repair my car amp that I lent to a (ex) friend and it came back with all the outputs blown and god knows what else as he tried to fix it himself.

For the past five years, we have purchased two second-hand Power Amplifiers, each lasting less than two years. The last power amplifier we bought new in July 2022 was the Behringer EUROPOWER PMP2000D, which only lasted for exactly two years. All these power amps had the same issue: they could be powered on but had no sound output. Do you know what the common causes of these amplifiers to fail?

awesome shit.. subbed. hope to learn more.. right now I'm trying to repair the amplifier from a definitive technology prosub 80 subwoofer. have a couple of resistors that have burned out. i can replace them and I find no other visible issues but would like to be able to find problems better like this.. i was using the home subwoofer in my car connected to a power inverter.. i think the resistors blew because the sub has an auto on/off and is usually constantly on in a home.. every time i turned off the car though i would hear a loud pop from the subwoofer. was told that was power discharging from the capacitors. ugh.. was a good $20 goodwill find. want to fix it.

i have a dd m2b amp that is in pertection and the reason being i have two of them and i got rushed while i was straping them together and wired both neg outputs to the pos and neg speaker terminals and the jumper that is supposed to go to the ground went to both pos when its supposed to be the other way around one amp is fine and the slave amp is in protect and idea what might have blown in the amp

What would cause a dead short in a amp? No lights come on just shorts out and blows fuses right away. 4 channel amp
i have a 3400D BOSS amp,and when i connect the ground it starts to burn up?everything is fine,no blown fuses,but as soon as i connect ground it starts to smoke up🤷♂️any idea?

Explain how protect mode in amps work pleeaase
Overcurrent protection: shunt resistor with voltage drop detection circuit across it
Over/under input voltage: just a simple few transistors that come on or off when voltage goes beyond thresholds
DC offset protection: combination of resistors and caps that pass a protect signal if DC is detected on speaker terminals by charging the cap too high

Some weired phasing going on between the Camera's Sensor and the Scops's screen. Blacks out the Scope partially. The do not talk to each other correctly in terms of Framerate i guess.

TCon board. Unplug 1 of 2 strips running to screen and power it on. If you get half a screen during either test. It's the Tcon

I have a Digital Designs M2C AMPLIFIER that I bought used 2 years ago. When it arrived in the mail, the RCA inputs were damaged. I desoldered them and replaced them with the RCA inputs from the master slave link side. I eliminated the inputs for the master slave link side. When I powered the amplifier on it turned on but no signal to the subwoofer. I removed the bottom cover and looked at the components and nothing looks like it's burnt. Could this be an easy fix? Please advise.

You're great bro! You've got real knowledge! Do you have a degree in electronics engineering? Here in India, I don't think we have anyone as talented as you so we are scared to buy imported expensive Korean amps like DD, Sundown. So do you recommend investing money in imported brands or better to go with normal brands like a pioneer, JBL which are available over here? Also, I heard red & blue circuit boards are better than green circuit boards, is it true?

This is why you shouldn't put the amplifier on the subwoofer enclosure, especially if you don't use the correct wood density type. It will vibrate beyond the amplifier wiring solder resonance!
Hey there do still repair amps? I say still because this video is so old so you never know but I have an amp that needs repair and whatever is going on with it it is acting just like this amplifier as far as it not activating or running. Be cause the amp powers or and looks like it should be functioning normal no red or warning lights but it is not outputting any sounds I have opened it up and nothing looks out of order so I'm stumped because I don't have the tools to troubleshoot at what point the signal is cutoff or if it is not being activated etc the amp is a Zedition z2400d not much info about it online but when it worked fine it really put out some booming bass pro ably the loudest and best sounding I have ever heard and I used to compete with the older early 2000s Rockford fosgate amps even took 1st.place a couple times 2 15's punch power subs and the 801s I want to say was the model number and this amp would have obliterated the Rockford for sure so I'm trying to bring the z-edition amp back to life and wanted to ask and see if you still might be repairing amps and if so if you work on send ins off of here on UA-cam like this if not I'm interested to know if you know anything about these amps as there is almost no info anywhere on it online at all and I snagged it up from goodwill that didn't know if it worked and didn't feel like testing it so I took a chance and it worked for me for a good while before my stupid ass overloaded it with less than 1 ohm and it quit working so I killed it everything the whole car cuz figured it went into protection mode and waited till the next day to turn it on and I unhooked the extra speaker that I was testing with the higher ohms and hooked up the usual set up and when I turned it on everything looked fine and like normal so I figured I dodged a bullet got all excited but when I proceeded to try to listen to it I got nothing from the amp have tested and tried everything and finally got a trade on another amp for some of my hifi gear put that amp in and walla so I'm sure it's something in the amp because the amp I got on trade was the last thing I was able to use to verify that the amp was not giving a y signal or output so please let me know and if it helps you can look me up on face book timofey samoylich will find me if you need to get a hold of me. My amp issue is... powers on and I get sound but also get a engine noise/whine. Even with rcas unplugged. I see now its outta my hands at this point. Def not a car wiring issue def somthing internal picking up the power supply
You got a bad ground at your negative battery terminal and/or the alternator is going out.
@@kensmechanicalaffair everything worked prior to installation. It was somthing with the amp itself. Since I got a new new amp things have been swell

Hi bro I have a TA-V5000.1 monoblock issue is when I turn up the sound on my radio it blows the amp fuse and when I checked the 12v connector on the amp it seems to be rusted

I have a strange problem. Positive and neg touch inside the amp somewhere when you hook it up it sparks and then goes into protect. Doesn't blow a fuse. I took a multi meter and tested conductivity and one probe is hooked to the neg the other to the pos and it beeps. Took it apart but I am not a amp genius so I really couldn't see anything wrong but something definitely is.

I screwed up litterly on my US Acoustics 4065 4 channel knowing better being impatient while playing music I accidentally shorted the channel 4 negative screw to case with screwdriver and it let out a loud crackle followed by a nonstop loud screech...I'm soooo bummed Any input what's going on?
I've tried hundreds of you're videos because my amp is not sounding. I think my RCA touched the ground cable during operation and 3 of the 4 channel have no power, but they sound and play signal. I'm trying to understand what could have happened but despite of the fact that I'm electrician, my electronic knowledge is not enough. I would try check the transistor because it seems to be the weakest part. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

If I have a class d mono block amplifier with a variable low-pass filter (50-250 Hz, 12 dB/octave). Can I remove this to make the amplifier neutral or will this cause my amp to not work.

This is a very commom problem when someone mixes up the ground and positive wire from battery
hi sir.. really appreciate if u have opinion or suggestions with my mohawk silver 2000 monoblock.due to my car alternator faulty maybe got to this prob occur.. After realise my amp become very hot and look inside.. did notice 2 of the last mosfet is overheating...without any doubt I oder and change both of the mosfet.. but after replacing it the prob still occur.. all sound seems to work fine no protect that I know of.. so really need your help maybe any idea what wrong with it sir??

Great video man but I got a question for you man so I have this amp B2 riot 7500 I’ve had so many people say they can fix it but fail your really my last hope that I have before retiring this amp it’s 5 months old and as I was driving my positive speaker lead came off the amp and grounded therefore causing the amp to short out the amp still turns on but doesn’t have no output check it out myself didn’t see anything burnt out on it so I gave up plz can u help no one has been able too progress on it plz help

Can someone help me. I have an amp when I connect the power supply the red light blink once and goes off, battery voltage is about 13v, I have opened the amplifier and seen no physical defect, I have checked the MOSFETs with multimeter I didn't find any problem. No prob with ground and power supply too. What may be the cause??

have you any experience with active crossover repair? i have an old phoenix gold ax active crossover which isnt powering up even though it gets power right to the input plug. i opened it and it had a cap that had a dry joint which i reflowed but it sill wont turn on and i dont want to start recapping just yet.

Question for ya. So if the out out of an amplifier was shorted out what would be the likely cause of the channel going out? A three way speaker had broke it's tweeter off and the wires had shorted I'm assuming cuz there is no output from that channel. It's a five channel autotek and all other four channels work fine.

I've got 4 pioneer gmd 9601 amplifiers. They all go into protection as soon as they come on with no rca or speakers connected. I looked inside and didn't see any burn spots. Do you have any idea what the problem is?
Output fets shorted. You can buy diagnose electronics with your eyes.
