That's what he said in the beginning but then he felt discouraged and disappointed 'cause he didn't see drastic changes. Not a word if he now feels healthy and good or not. :P
There's a good chance 80% of these people go back to their old habits. Which is not me hating on them, just being truthful. No shame to them at all. But when you're used for a video idea, and it's someone else making you go through this change instead of you wanting to initiate it yourself it's hard to stick to it.

I rolled my eyes on that comment, the yolk is the nutrition ffs, eat free ranged outside = eat the whole thing. Whites is full of crap tbh if the hens are feed fodder in a freakin cage.
“Why am I eating the not delicious part of the egg?” Because you're listening to dumb advice. The yolk has more body building nutrients than almost any other food. You don't want to just eat egg yolk, but whole eggs are always best.
Yikes. Nobody wants to see shane dawson anywhere for any reason. Maybe a year ago that was an unpopular opinion but I would have stood by it a year ago, 5 years ago, as much as today.
On the Before and After Photos can they please be in the same pose? in the Before they are slouching and not flexing so you cant truly see how they changed because in the After they are standing tall and flexing. This is amazing and Inspiring but I can see how much chest fat he lost cuz the slouching in the first and the extended chest in the after.
While the pose change does highlight the self-esteem, it changes how we perceive the results. Everyone looks a lot less fit when standing regularly rather than doing the Double Front Bicep pose. When in that "bodybuilding" pose you can see their muscles much better because they are activated and stretched. If I did a Before and After Photo right now without any self-improvement but took them as they did. People could think I lost some fat or gained Muscle because I'd be stretching my body upward and flexing. Either Stand regularly in both photos or Flex in both. Posture can't come into play when you are flexing because your body would be in the ideal position. When you do those poses your body naturally pulls the shoulder blades back and arches the spine to not curve downward aka slouch
She is still working out every day but due to the holidays she said she's not being eating as well as she should have she has a UA-cam channel and posted a Q&A the other day

don't be disappointed, if you don't get as much results as chris pratt did in the same amount of time. Not just because you don't have the coaches or the cooks, but also because you don't take steroids, like all actors do, if they have to get buff for a role quick.
22:58 I love how this trainer is so invested in the people he’s training. I always see him nodding like he really gets these people (and their goals and struggles). What I like so much about this time stamp and further on is that I feel like he is so so proud of the results but doesn’t really show it. I think it’s so sweet

Honestly I think Michelle is such an inspiration for so many people. No matter what they look like boy or girl, tall or short, thin or thick, she makes people inspired to do things that you wouldn’t on your own. She helps me step outside my comfort zone.
The editor for this was SO GOOD. The graphics and the film clips? PHENOMENAL. The series and content was great as usual, but wow, the stuff added in post was GREAT.
you should do one on Shane Dawson. Not in a rude way, I'm just saying Shane because he's always wanted to have healthier eating habits and be mentally and physically strong so you should ask him because maybe he'll take part in it and it'll change him for the better

Nah no offense but I think Shane needs more professional help. He isn't physically unhealthy he has said before he just has a big chest and works out a lot so just has a lot of muscle. Shane is more mentally unhealthy so I don't think this'll help him. AND he would never agree to do it.
YES. YES. HE DESERVES TO LEARN HOW TO LOVE HIMSELF. Technically, he already has a trainer and already eats pretty healthily (aside from all the jokes he makes), but I think Michelle could help him with SEEING all the progress he has made.

Would you ever consider doing one with someone who may be lower in weight but doesn’t live a super healthy lifestyle (for me my stress and anxiety cause me to stay at the bottom of the healthy weight bracket) I’d be very interested in seeing healthy weight gain through diet and exercise
His attitude through this whole thing was depressing and not really motivated but Im glad he challenged himself and got past where he wanted to be. He can cook now lol hoping that this transformation lifts his spirits and mind because it just seems like theres a fun person beyond this sad barrier
I don't know why but when Garret said 7 to 10 years in the beginning I thought he was going to say you guys have been together for that long and I was SHOOK
Proud of Garrett! I saw the changes in his face so clearly during the interview cut-ins. But the part I think is most impressive is that this challenge for him was about fitness, but also so much more of adulthood and just how to live a structured life with the cooking and planning and scheduling. Those are some major life skills that he learned, and I'll admit I was a little bit "rolling my eyes like you're 25 and can't cook for yourself?" but hey, he can do it now I think that's awesome. It makes me really happy to see the two of them together in partnership, sharing work equally and supporting each other, that's so key when moving in together.
I just started following you and came across this series and I'm absolutely obsessed with them! Can you make a LOT more? lol No, but for real, you are such a positive person and Garrett is adorable. My boyfriend is the same way. He is naturally thin and can eat whatever he wants and hasn't worked out for years. I workout every day and would love to share that with him. Please make a million more. I promise I will watch every single one!
I’m admitting myself into an eating disorder clinic next week for binge eating and bulimia. I went from 140 at 5’6 to 280. I’m really really really struggling. But these videos motivate me to lose weight the right way and to eat correctly. Thanks for this awesome series. Can’t wait to see who you do next!
He is like me when I was 27. Still one foot in childhood and the other in adulthood. The way to go is to make him eat healthy for a year and then work out. He is lagging. Such a sweet boy! Keep him. 😁
Good for him for taking it seriously from the start. Hard work pays off, mentally more than anything. It's really hard when you can't see drastic physical results right away but it's like art. You see yourself everyday..Sometimes you have to step away to see what your missing. Those before and afters 👌 I don't struggle with the workout part at all. I love it. It's diet. I was super on point with micros, macros, what was good, what isn't good for fuel ect.. but a few years back I committed to being a vegetarian and now it's not about my eating unhealthy but just finding ways to get adequate amounts of everything your body needs especially after a workout. This series is really great for people at all levels. Looking forward to seeing who's next. Different ages, lifestyles, dietary needs.

They’re overcomplicating the meal plan and being unflexible. If the guy doesn’t like eating 5 times a day at specific times, modify that and make a 3 meals plan. Or intermittent fasting if he doesn’t like eating at specific times. And most of the food looks bland.
For a beginner to weight loss it's going to be a difficult experience regardless of the circumstances. Introducing long term measures in the diet and fitness modules for a beginner is pointless and often deleterious. As he progresses through his transformation they may decide to integrate new modules.
i agree people are unlikely to continue with meal plans they dont like. although i think it was simple but should have been tweaked to his liking. also the whole numbers part at the end is just impossible by scientific standards. idk why they gotta lie just film it for an extended time like 3 months to actually see the results. results take time even the slightest ones.
I think if you consider the short time span of the challenge, it makes sense. If you want results quickly then really restricting the diet for a short period of time can jump start results. So he may have been eating that way just for the video. Hopefully he will adapt his diet to something more sustainable for every day life. One would assume that he would.
How about a parent as a make over participant? Would be a different level of challenge as age and a lifetime of habits ad another layer of complexity 💪
I think the reason why he didn't seem all that excited was because of his coping mechanism. I know because I do it too lol. Don't expect much, and then when the results aren't as drastic (to him) you won't be hurt that much. But, he was really happy about it, we could all tell, even though he wasn't trying to show it. I love this channel so much. It's always super uplifting.
The whole day (it's 4pm now) I've been telling myself to go to the gym today because I always love how I feel afterwards. Just as I'm trying to get myself to get ready, you upload this, and now I'm on my way down to the gym!

this has to be the most wholesome and body positive body 'transformation'/ makeover series I have ever seen, and I have seen loads. your channel always reminds me that fitness is a lifestyle and not a destination - packing my gym bag now!
Well he has a minimum of 15% body-fat in the end, much less than he started with but no way in hell that it's 9,9 percent... I know that it's the fitness people that try to make their program seem more efficient, but that's such a blatant lie... Good work but you have a long way left before you are sub 10%
9.9% body fat sounds really off compared to how he looks. Other fitness influencers have a bigger body fat percentage and look much more shredded. As far as I know most body fat tests are really imprezise. The only legit test that I know is a dexa scan.
Found a good quote from Livestrong about that, "The average man has a body fat percentage of 18 to 24 percent, while the average woman has a percentage of between 25 and 31. For elite athletes, the numbers slip to 6 to 13 for men and 14 to 20 for women." He must be an elite athlete.
i agree, the 9% is what a lot of mens physique competitors go on stage with. I've been weight lifting for a couple years and i am much more leaner than he is but i would say im only 13-14% body fat. 10-12% is when you noticable see your abs, you can't see his at all. i would say he's 18%+ and his orignal body fat was 22%+
Garrett, from a happily married woman I NEED to say you have inspired me to exercise and create a routine for myself, my husband just left for boot camp in the army and with no kids yet I truly want to learn how to cook and exercise as you learned to. I know that I may not have great results, but I believe you truly did and with an upkeep of those i know you can achieve better too. I can only hope that going forward in my relationship and yours we may both reach a satisfaction that we are looking for. Good luck with your endeavors especially with Michelle. I wish and pray the best for you!
You should take a college student on a fitness journey! It is SO hard to stay fit- it could educate college students on how to avoid freshman 15. I will happily volunteer 😊😊
I think saf is more relatable to the average viewer because she’s more ‘regular’ in terms of her lifestyle. Michelle is insanely athletic and that’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, whereas saf’s content is very relatable and relevant to whatever the most popular trends are.
thats because safiya doesnt exaggerate things or do things that are out of personality. for example the transformation numbers are either being faked or got measured wrong. everybody in the fitness industry know to gain good amount of muscle you gotta be in a calorie surplus (ie gain in fat too) and if you are losing weight then ur in calorie surplus and wont gain much muscle. an avg man gain about 1-2 pounds of muscle in a month and this guy gains like 7.5 pounds? thats impossible. also he lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks a healthy calorie deficit will make you lose 10 pounds unless the guy is reaally eating less. if he ate reaally less then he wont gain muscle. sooooo basically the numbers are definitely funny and just wierd.

Agree on a post-menopausal woman. Our bodies are different. It would be interesting to see how quickly they can change when food and exercise are dialed in.
I love this video but I really dont think the fat percentage is accurate. If he really is below 10% body fat at the end he should have some very obvious muscle tone. Even allowing for him having more subdermal fat than visceral, the measurements dont make sense. I really like the video, but I wish it would be a little more accurate.
blue badger Yea you definitely right. I was thinking he would be like 15% at the end and they said 9.9. Anyone would have abs when below 10%. Most get abs from 12-15. It still was a good transformation tho. lol

Proud of Garrett! I saw the changes in his face so clearly during the interview cut-ins. But the part I think is most impressive is that this challenge for him was about fitness, but also so much more of adulthood and just how to live a structured life with the cooking and planning and scheduling. Those are some major life skills that he learned, and I'll admit I was a little bit "rolling my eyes like you're 25 and can't cook for yourself?" but hey, he can do it now I think that's awesome. It makes me really happy to see the two of them together in partnership, sharing work equally and supporting each other, that's so key when moving in together.

He is like me when I was 27. Still one foot in childhood and the other in adulthood. The way to go is to make him eat healthy for a year and then work out. He is lagging. Such a sweet boy! Keep him. 😁
Good for him for taking it seriously from the start. Hard work pays off, mentally more than anything. It's really hard when you can't see drastic physical results right away but it's like art. You see yourself everyday..Sometimes you have to step away to see what your missing. Those before and afters 👌
I don't struggle with the workout part at all. I love it. It's diet. I was super on point with micros, macros, what was good, what isn't good for fuel ect.. but a few years back I committed to being a vegetarian and now it's not about my eating unhealthy but just finding ways to get adequate amounts of everything your body needs especially after a workout. This series is really great for people at all levels. Looking forward to seeing who's next. Different ages, lifestyles, dietary needs.

They’re overcomplicating the meal plan and being unflexible. If the guy doesn’t like eating 5 times a day at specific times, modify that and make a 3 meals plan. Or intermittent fasting if he doesn’t like eating at specific times. And most of the food looks bland.

For a beginner to weight loss it's going to be a difficult experience regardless of the circumstances. Introducing long term measures in the diet and fitness modules for a beginner is pointless and often deleterious. As he progresses through his transformation they may decide to integrate new modules.

i agree people are unlikely to continue with meal plans they dont like. although i think it was simple but should have been tweaked to his liking. also the whole numbers part at the end is just impossible by scientific standards. idk why they gotta lie just film it for an extended time like 3 months to actually see the results. results take time even the slightest ones.
I think if you consider the short time span of the challenge, it makes sense. If you want results quickly then really restricting the diet for a short period of time can jump start results. So he may have been eating that way just for the video. Hopefully he will adapt his diet to something more sustainable for every day life. One would assume that he would.
How about a parent as a make over participant? Would be a different level of challenge as age and a lifetime of habits ad another layer of complexity 💪

I think the reason why he didn't seem all that excited was because of his coping mechanism. I know because I do it too lol. Don't expect much, and then when the results aren't as drastic (to him) you won't be hurt that much. But, he was really happy about it, we could all tell, even though he wasn't trying to show it. this has to be the most wholesome and body positive body 'transformation'/ makeover series I have ever seen, and I have seen loads. your channel always reminds me that fitness is a lifestyle and not a destination - packing my gym bag now!
Well he has a minimum of 15% body-fat in the end, much less than he started with but no way in hell that it's 9,9 percent... I know that it's the fitness people that try to make their program seem more efficient, but that's such a blatant lie... Good work but you have a long way left before you are sub 10%

9.9% body fat sounds really off compared to how he looks. Other fitness influencers have a bigger body fat percentage and look much more shredded. As far as I know most body fat tests are really imprezise. The only legit test that I know is a dexa scan.
Found a good quote from Livestrong about that, "The average man has a body fat percentage of 18 to 24 percent, while the average woman has a percentage of between 25 and 31. For elite athletes, the numbers slip to 6 to 13 for men and 14 to 20 for women." He must be an elite athlete.

i agree, the 9% is what a lot of mens physique competitors go on stage with. I've been weight lifting for a couple years and i am much more leaner than he is but i would say im only 13-14% body fat. 10-12% is when you noticable see your abs, you can't see his at all. i would say he's 18%+ and his orignal body fat was 22%+

Garrett, from a happily married woman I NEED to say you have inspired me to exercise and create a routine for myself, my husband just left for boot camp in the army and with no kids yet I truly want to learn how to cook and exercise as you learned to. I know that I may not have great results, but I believe you truly did and with an upkeep of those i know you can achieve better too. I can only hope that going forward in my relationship and yours we may both reach a satisfaction that we are looking for. Good luck with your endeavors especially with Michelle. It annoys me that this channel isn't growing near the rate Saf's is because the production and dedication are similarly on point.
No hate, but I think Safiya is generally more likeable as a person than Michelle.
I think saf is more relatable to the average viewer because she’s more ‘regular’ in terms of her lifestyle. Michelle is insanely athletic and that’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, whereas saf’s content is very relatable and relevant to whatever the most popular trends are.

thats because safiya doesnt exaggerate things or do things that are out of personality. for example the transformation numbers are either being faked or got measured wrong. everybody in the fitness industry know to gain good amount of muscle you gotta be in a calorie surplus (ie gain in fat too) and if you are losing weight then ur in calorie surplus and wont gain much muscle. an avg man gain about 1-2 pounds of muscle in a month and this guy gains like 7.5 pounds? thats impossible. also he lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks a healthy calorie deficit will make you lose 10 pounds unless the guy is reaally eating less. if he ate reaally less then he wont gain muscle. sooooo basically the numbers are definitely funny and just wierd.

Agree on a post-menopausal woman. Our bodies are different. It would be interesting to see how quickly they can change when food and exercise are dialed in.
I love this video but I really dont think the fat percentage is accurate. If he really is below 10% body fat at the end he should have some very obvious muscle tone. Even allowing for him having more subdermal fat than visceral, the measurements dont make sense. I really like the video, but I wish it would be a little more accurate.
