The winners: Division IA Jazz Champion Ohio State University - 97.2857 Division IA Pom Champion University of Minnesota - 98.4762 Division IA Hip Hop Champion University of Nevada - Las Vegas - 97.7619 I personally thought Ohio's jazz routine was great but relied on the glove gimmick too much. Unfortunately, Minnesota made a big mistake in the beginning that you can't see unless you've memorized the routine (they covered it up that well but judges know) and it cost them. The reason Minnesota put that dancer in white to highlight her is for two reasons: one, the story being told is about someone dying; two, that dancer is Ava Wagner. Her sister, Ellie, dances for Ohio. Last year, Ohio beat out Minnesota for the jazz title, much to many people's amazement (including mine--Minnesota ATE), and Minnesota beat Ohio in Pom (just like this year). This year is Ellie's senior year so it's the final time the two will go up against one another. So it was both a rematch and a final match. The sisters are very, very close and come from (basically) a dancing legacy family. They were trained in contemporary and came in third place (as a duo) on World of Dance in 2019 when Ava was 14 and Ellie was 16-17. (You can look up those videos on UA-cam under Eva & Ellie Wagner).
ohio state also made me emotional, they were actually insane
