  • This is a common scenario in Power BI: You have a column that calculates age. Your user wants a slicer to filter the data in age groups. When you try to order the slicer correctly, you're hit with a circular dependency error.

    Hi Milan! I tried sorting months and days in chronological order by creating two separate tables and then linking them to the main table using the appropriate columns as shown in the video. But the columns I want to sort using the day_num and month_num values do not pick these two columns. They don't appear in the list of columns under the 'Sort by column' option.
    However, when I tried creating the DayNum and MonthNum columns using the UI option of creating a conditional column, the same columns got sorted without giving the circular dependency error (even though the results of UI created and formula created DayNum and MonthNum columns were exactly the same).
    Could you please tell us what the issue might be??? Thanks in advance :)
