    Great video! Informative and helpful! Not simply a rapid fire of non information....You actually provide some specs on each and then provide some really good demos of each guitar which is really great! I am shopping for another guitar and specifically an acoustic electric which is the one type I don't already own :) so this video helps narrow it down for me since I was looking for maybe not top of the line but not wanting to go too cheap and these guitars were ones I have been thinking about. I now feel confident that they are good options :) thanks a lot for the great video!

    After seeing this I ended up getting a Fender CD-60SCE.....WOW! What a guitar! Out of all my guitars this one is my new favorite! I went with the all black model.....Its stunning to look at....And it plays like magic....Both easy to play, and sounds incredible both unplugged and plugged in....What a guitar! This video was very helpful in making the decision too....Subscribed to the channel....Couldn't be happier about the guitar!

    This was very timely for me, as I have been considering acoustic electric guitars in approximately the $300-$400 range. I have really been narrowing in on the CD-60SCE in all mahogany, which was not included in this video, but that Yamaha gave me something else to consider. I am still leaning towards the Fender, though.

    One thing that I really appreciate about your reviews is the tendency to demo them all with the same tune. That makes it more of an apples-to-apples comparison, even across separate video reviews. I don't get that from other reviewers.

  • @jlbyrne3538
    @jlbyrne3538 4 роки тому +3

    I recently bought this guitar and made some adjustments. Some fret ends were a little sharp and the action was a little high. So I done the following. Cleaned up the fret ends and polished the frets, after checking the neck I trimmed down the bridge saddle to lower the action. Replaced the strings to Martin 13/56 and adjusted the truss rod. The results and sound were incredible. I now have an acoustic that matches any T*ylor, M*rtin or G*bson at a fraction of the cost. The intonation is perfect and I normally tune the guitar in every 6 to 8 days.

    Nice demo. I am considering APX600 or the CC-60SCE (not featured here, but I think it is slimmer than CD-60SCE). I am an electric guitarist and occassinally play the acoustic guitar (blues and some finger picking). Ideally, in an acoustic guigtar, I want lowest action possible without buzz and the neck feel of an electric guitar (ideally Ibanz wizard necks 😉 or the Strat modern C). I am guessing that since CD-60SCE is solidwood, tonewise it ought to be better than the APX600, which has spurce top. Any recommendations as to which of the two APX600 or CC-60SCE would better suit my requirements? Other related insights would also be very helpful. Thanks.

      Change them as often as you can, every 3 months at a bare minimum. Martin or d'addario lights, always. Cheap and lovely. The type of metal doesnt really matter but i prefer nickel. Well if you are serious, "best" is a relative term. The two laminates in general won't sound as good or be as acoustically loud as the one with the solid spruce top, CD60SCE. Now you have to consider how much you want to take care of your guitar and what climate you live in vs the quality of the sound of the guitar. A laminate guitar does better when the weather changes... spring, summer, winter, or fall so you won't have to keep it in a humidity controlled room or worry about the wood drying out and you having to have it set up again to be played for each season. For a beginner or someone who doesn't want to take their guitar into a shop all the time, this is the best guitar for them. Once your ear is able to tell the difference between a "bad" guitar vs a "decent" guitar (like these) vs a "good" guitar vs a "great" guitar then you can decide if you want to purchase something different. With just the top being solid on the CD60SCE it should do ok in most climates as well. For my solid guitars, some guitars are set up for winter and some for summer so I can always have one to play. The weather changes can also destroy and crack a solid wood acoustic guitar though so you have to keep a humidifier in the case or keep the case closed all winter/summer. Even for me though, that's too much work which is why I just purchased a CD60S and will install a fishman soundhole pickup in it. Then I don't have to worry about my nice guitars getting cracked or warped this winter.
      My breakdown of the video anyway, everyone's ear is a little different. The CD60SCE sounded the best MIC'd and also plugged in. However, for the Yamaha, if you look the MIC is slightly higher towards the neck so it wouldn't be able to pick up the sound as much which is probably why the volume is lower, that and it has a more shallow body. The FA125CE sounded blah and what I call "cardboard" like unplugged. No character and very dull. Plugged in, it sounded as good as the Yamaha. The CD60SCE was noticeably louder than both, again note what I said about the Yamaha MIC location, and even plugged in it was louder although it shouldn't have been since it had the same preamp as the FA125CE. However, even if you took out the volume factor for all three, the CD60SCE was just a bit more articulate and had a little bit more character. I think for a beginner guitar you can't go wrong with any of them. The FA125CE if you maybe aren't sure that you will stick with a guitar or you want a cheaper guitar for the lake or a coffee shop. The CD60SCE beats the APX 600 in sound both plugged in and acoustically. However for eye candy appeal, the APX 600 is a georgeous guitar! Hope that helps anyone seriously considering one of these guitars. Again, this is in respects to my ears and my taste in sound.

      If anyone is curious, I put a L.R. Baggs kinda copy preamp mounted in sound hole pickup in my CD60SCE and it sounds pretty good. This preamp has two mics and also a piezo pickup so you can blend the two, it only cost abougt $25 bucks on ebay right now this isn't my video so I don't want to post links but look for the beige colored ones like L.R. Baggs makes. I also put a Fishman Sonicore soundhole mounted preamp in my more expensive solid wood Epiphone Masterbuilt and the CD60S sounds just as good with that pre-amp. Now compared to my Gibson and my Guild, they don't seem to compare. Side by side you will notice a difference. But I played them all from the cheapest to the most expensive and it sounds good enough where you wouldn't know it did not sound "as good" if there was not another guitar to compare it to. By sounding good, I mean it is very warm and yet has enough treble, the strings are articulate and each note can be heard picking or playing arpeggios. Compared to the higher end guitars of mine, it does not sound as "full" as the Guild and it is not as well balanced as my Gibson or as articulate. So now I have a guitar for every purpose, Guild for chords, Gibson for leads and picking, and the Fender CD60S as a general guitar that is cable of doing both well but not as good as the two top guitars.

      @@ephramwalton I have had mine out most of the winter so far and its held it's own. I did slightly adjust and straighten the neck but only barely so I could play the higher frets easier. If you are new and mostly playing open and some bar chords you will be fine. Also if you keep it in a case when you aren't playing it, it will keep its moisture better and likely wont need to be adjusted at all. When spring and summer comes again the little wood changes will change back.

      Então, eu comprei um um desse fender FA125 e achei o som do vídeo muito diferente, comprei ele justamente por ter um som bem aberto e "estalado", com os médios e agudos bem evidentes e grave moderado, acho que o microfone deles que tem a captação um pouco mais grave talvez. Digo pra você que vale a pena visitar uma loja para testar, nem que for pra matar a curiosidade, é um baita violão!
