Sun Tou Tou is an orphan in her twenties. One day, she gets into trouble while fighting injustice. Ren Xin Zheng, a professor at the University of Chinese Medicine, comes to her aid and learns her life story. Professor Ren accepts her into the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) course to give her a fresh start in life. Sun Tou Tou accepts the challenge to learn under Ren Xin Zheng and eventually inherits his family's TCM practice.
Professor Ren's son, Tian Zhen, is a classmate she dislikes for causing her some difficulties. The quest of gaining knowledge is challenging enough without the added generation gap between students and lecturers. Maturing, she persists and finds herself taken with traditional medicine.
Tou Tou and Tian Zhen become closer as they learn to understand and empathize with each other. Tou Tou, her classmates, and their lecturers can now begin to follow their dreams.

If Ren Tianzhen's character doesn't have development, I would rather have him end up with meng meng. I'll happy to see tou tou single rather than with that kind of guy. I'm so pissed at his character but the actor did well portraying his character lol.
I thought finnally their love line going to be start after drunk but he just left her alone. And here im suffocating watching meng meng and tian zhen.😢😢

Directors shouldn't have put Tou Tou with this person,he's too involved with Meng Meng appears to me it was afterthought he somewhat confessed to tou after meng passed,

My heart hurts for Tou Tou.
Everyone shows more compassion and sympathy towards Meng Meng who is from a wealthy family. Her parents provide everything for her except their time. At least she never has to worry about having food on the table or a roof over her head and her parents are alive and well.
As for Tou Tou, she is treated awfully. Constantly criticized for her behavior and lack of education but she lost her parents at an early age and grew up in an orphanage and was never adopted. She lacks love, support, education, money, guidance. Having no family to lean on she struggles to provide herself with food and shelter.
However, the biggest and most telling difference between Meng Meng and Tou Tou is how Tou Tou never hesitates to step in and help anyone who is being bullied. Meng Meng hides and screams and does not mind taking the spot of a medical students opportunity to learn at a medical convention.
The ML is a terrible human being. He claims he will take full responsibility for Meng Meng because she almost died because him. Caring for her 24/7 and treating her more like a GF than a patient. He is basically taking advantage of a mentally unstable girl. However, he almost got Tou Tou killed as well. But he has taken zero responsibility for that. He even laughed about it. He could really care less about the life of the second girl he almost killed. Also, the way he treated his friend Qian regarding the convention was terrible. He is a bad friend and a bad person.
If Tian Zhen the ML this drama, then i think tou tou deserve better than him, cmon 🙂

@@emperorcommand5711 I have to agree with you here. Although I absolutely hate the way the ML is behaving, I think it's all due to his (possibly) narcissistic father. That's on one hand, on the other however, children always have the ability to learn and out grow from their parents' mistakes. So although I do understand why the son might behave like that because of his father, he needs to change his behaviour and realise he can be better than his father.
I agreed with u reason why in ep 1 I said he's a jerk and I will stopped watching it if it's goes on like this like srsly he almost killed a person and he think it fine😅 but continue it cuz I love lusi drama it just her character her is kind of something u want to 🙃
Zhao Lu Si is very brave to accept a role where the character is rough and annoying. She played the role well and is very believable. Hope to see her maturing and become a role model soon.

the writers better have a great character arc planned for Ren Tianzhen, so far he’s made quite a lot of rash decisions - but hey on the other hand Yizhou’s acting is always good

I feel like Tian Zhen was so irresponsible.. he got Sun Tou Tou drunk, left her outside, and didn’t even choose to be responsible for his actions.. he just skipped away. I hope to see some character development. As for Tou Tou, even though this is a fictional story, it just hurts my heart. She never had anyone to care for her, and because of a misunderstanding completely because of Ren Tian Zhen, he dislikes her and looks down on her. Everybody is clowning her for not having parents and having a lower level of education than them. And she just laughs it off. If she was under my care, I’d make sure she encounters no difficulty. She deserves the world.

Tou tou is a free spirit who did’nt have someone to guide her proprely through her life she so pure and naiive and she alwayse apologied for her mistakes .she never tried to harme someone out of hatred .
Unlike tian zhan who is much older than her , have a family to guide him and provide for him but still can`t take resposabilty for his actions he nearly killed her yet he didnt show any regrets he was just a fraid he will get caught and not untill his father told him to jump into the pond to look for her that he did , he even laugh when his mother was lecturing about the issue

Sun Tou Tou is flawed but it makes her human and relatable somehow. I am glad Lusi accepted such role because if she didn't then who will be brave enough to tell the story of people who are considered an "outsider" of the society? Majority of times we judged humans based on their actions. If it conforms on our values then we gladly accepted them as decent but if not then we are easy to give judgement and hatred sometimes. If you are blatantly watching houlang then this wouldn't be your taste. Absorbing and broad mindedness are the keywords here people. So for those fans of Lusi who keeps complaining drop the show. You don't need to keep tweeting your snide remarks. Feeling entitled, eh? True that before we are fans , we are spectator or audience but do you really need to be an ass? Lusi doesn't need fans like you. Drop the show and watch romantic and/ or shallow ones where you don't have to think.

@@fay-fay2562 Actually I have no problem with people not liking this show because this is obviously an acquired taste. My problem is everyday complain. Personally criticizing is manifestation of human understanding but if you are a fan of Lusi I suggest that do it in the end as it has been a fact as a long time fan of her that she needs to be supported and solidify her status so to avoid being accused of using other people to succeed. We had a hard time fighting that accusation and until now this has been an issue (green tea issue). Lusi isn't safe yet and there are people who are waiting for her downfall. If fans are speaking bad so what would happen? We can criticize but do it in manner that isn't disrespectful to Lusi and her current show.

I can relate with this, I was also raised in a orphanage, did that make me any less than a human being, did it keep it keep me from contributing to society, no, I was a good person, I've been married now for 52 years . raised a family, and have good values and wonderful friends, compassion and love and understanding, good advice goes along way. I can understand tou tou and this movie, alot of wisdom here to accept

Sun Tou Tou could have died if not for her being the main FL. How can anyone leave a young drunk girl alone in the night near the lake? How can anyone not think of the consequences of their actions especially for a doctor at that? I'm ok if Tou Tou doesn't end up with Tian Zhen. I don't think I can entrust her to him. This is just my personal opinion. The writer didn't give the ML justice for this action.

Mother and son relationship-The scene of the mother reprimanding Tianzhen. LYZ's acting is delicate and he is able to show the feelings of guilt ,shame and then relieve (cheekiness). Audience is able to see his roller coaster inner feelings. Good acting skills!

I adore Tou Tou’s character, if anything, it’s Tian Zhen I’m concerned with. He seems so cowardly but hopefully that changes in the next few episodes. I’m enjoying the story overall.

I'm agreeing w/ alot of the comments about tian zhen, he should've known better than to leave toutou alone... i will say this tho, even if im not the biggest fan of him (which i mean i can see how things can go w/ toutou in the future and rooting for them ofc but rn he hasn't been doing his part of trying to let her do her thing) still, im glad that they aren't the typical leads you'd watch. this drama is doing its job for letting the characters have their flaws but still make us understand y they may act the way they are. im pretty much just eager for character development to happen cuz this is making me feel for toutou 😭😭 like she is 100% a naughty girl and can get on my nerves from time to time but like her nephew (💀) said w/ knowing her upbringing we gotta let the process happen !!

I’ve watched so many enemies to lovers dramas where the ml is a jerk but have never hated someone as much as TRZ. What even is he doing with the patient? Who takes a patient on an academic retreat? Or moves a patient into his house? At this point his entire character is just a no.

I can understand that he didn't think as far as the possibility for her to get drown but she could have been abused there. And even if he was just a kid playing a prank and not responsible enough to come clean and handle the consequences, he should have at least express regrets after the incident and say sorry to her.

Even though the FL have been rude to him since their first meet but it is his attitude that is the problem in the first place. Understandable that he is disgusted by her actions but that doesnt mean that he should make her drunk and let her be outside. He is also not owning up to what he have done. His personality is the problem since the start.
I find that he got off doing such dangerous thing time and time again, from misdiagnosing to just pure mean in both his professional and daily life. Also if the tables are turn, i will act the same way for the FL because this action is just wrong...
I dont like the ML and even if he have a character development, i will not like him still. The fact that he does this things... and stop doing it just becuz he like "her" eventually... means he might do this to others when the time comes...
I dont like meng meng too and his excuse involving meng meng... she needs professional help. I can guarantee she will become too dependent on him and ended up committing u know.. or have other bad consequences...

I never thought I would find this drama as interesting as I do. When I first saw the subject matter I thought it would drag, but it is really special! Should have trusted Lusi to pick only good subjects! So many flawed characters whose stories are slowly being revealed. Even Professor Ren has issues, blaming the wife for their sons actions "your son". Great stuff and can't wait now each day for the new episodes! 2nd ML must be turning up soon, hopefully to stir it up between Sun Tou Tou and Ren Tian Zhen!😄

This show is so interesting in letting the audience know about TCM. I knew nothing and finding it fascinating. I enjoy Tou Tou’s relationship with Professor Ren very much. I don’t anticipate Tian Zhen to look at Tou Tou romantically, I think she confuses him but also he finds her interesting. after the interest will come the Liking part. Seeing Zhao Luis play a sort (as there are characteristics of her other playful roles here as well) of new character is great, she needs to break out of her previous roles.
this drama reminds me of her previous hit project as Cheng Shaoshang (Niao Niao) from Love like the Galaxy a lot and I love the character development of this young and mischievous girl.
Sun Tou Tou is very funny.. Love you Zhao Lusi🥰💜💜
until this eps, he didn't deserve Tou Tou, in fact she was so mature mentally and in mindset.

I don't know why (well acted) but from the beginning I had the feeling that MengMeng is fake. She is too clingy to Tian Zhen. And she checks her tablet at night? What? I hope they find out soon. This series is super interesting. I keep watching.
Zhao lusi always can make me laugh when I saw her tv, she is so funny and cute,and her performance is so natural, I love her so much
there are a lot of comments about the character's personalities ... but i think one thing everyone is forgetting is that all of the characters need some sort of treatment, they are basically all unwell in different ways. The pain that they are all carrying is different even though that does not validate the actions that may have been taken by the characters it shows depth into the nature of these characters themselves. Like i said they all need healing not only physical but mental and emotional as well. The dynamic differences that all of these characters posses is such cool thing to see on screen... and i am really liking this show because they haven't turned away from showing the honest truth of relationships in real life. There doesn't seem to be an agenda of pleasing a wide range of audience who wouldn't agree with certain cultural aspects of these relationships that have been portrayed (like the parents - their interactions, the things he says to his wife could actually be a depiction of a real chinese couple who have been married for 20 plus years) ... i dunno i guess i'm still intrigued because the acting feels really smooth and the story is not too dull

The grandpa is funny too. All cast did they're acting roles very well. To see older and younger people work together helps each other grow, from the older people wise words to the young; to the young learning from the old. Both experiences will help each other grow

I am big fan of luo yizhou (actor who playing tianzhen). Because in real life he is such a sweetheart. But I am disappointed with character of ren tianzhen coz what he did to toutou is totally unacceptable. It makes me hate him. I really want to see character development of him.

While the one who got in my nerve is that Wu Shan Dao who's swallowing the merits and recognition by himself when in fact he did not even do anything except giving the class a place to study. Hes milking off Ren Xin Zheng credibility and his hard works also making him as a marketing strategy to reap off benefits from people, such a resenting character is making my blood boil

Relationship between TZ and MM is uncomfortable for me.
I have a friend who is medical doctor and I know they have strict rules in treating patient especially if it is with different gender.
The way TZ holding the girl hand, hugging are behavior that should avoid between patient and doctor.
It is even worse here coz MM is a mental patient who can't give consent clearly.
Omg i cant with the ML. The way he treated tou tou and his friend awfully like that just for a patient. He needs his moral compass straightened out. I feel bad for tou tou and his friend:(((

I think tianzhen is getting more close to mengmeng coz she is not telling anyone about the boy who made her pregnant. So he wants to open her up. Her parents are not even taking care of her.
