I JUST FUCKING SCREAMED SO DAMN LOUD AND THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE TEARS THIS IS THE BEST THING THATS HAPPENED ALL DAY Edit: if you decide to do flowers of flesh and blood please for the love of everything be VERY EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH THE TITLE TRACK it is a looooooooooot to handle and process in terms of lyrical content; just want ya safe and all xD I would suggest either heart shaped bed or curdled milk next ☺️ embarrassing love songs NEEDS to be on the priority list too though cause while some of it is pretty heavy still there's some (what I call) really fkn cute stuff in there and it's just a great time all around LMFAO As for this album, just off the top of the noggin: In The Land is about 2 true crime cases that actually did really happen, the names are slipping my mind ATM but I'll update when I find them again! (Edit: the cases mentioned are the case of David Parker Ray and Theresa Knorr in case anyone wants to go looking and be even more horrified) there's also a bunch of Cult Classic Film references strewn about the album, You're So Cool being one of them xD "I see the future, and there's no death cause you and I, we're angels" is a quote from a movie (natural born killers I believe it was, hence the album title being Natural Born Losers) that she put melody to!! And A Marvelous Persona is also an actual audio snippet too xD Angels of porn 1 is the demo version and exists on a different album so you'll hear that too at some point if you keep going xD pro tip though: if you google the albums by title a wiki with info will come up and show you all the random music trivia bits your weirdo heart desires xD Gods there's so much to this album actually wow if UA-cam has a character limit I'm pretty sure I'm about to reach it xD Seriously though so so proud of you for making it through this album and enjoying a good chunk of it at the least, thank you doesn't even cover it 🥺 she's homegrown from my province in Canada and her music helps me through a fuckton of the harder times just like Ethels does, and she's actually who led me to Ethel - I love that the reverse was the case for you LMFAO this was so fucking cool excuse me while I go run the views on this specific video up Ps yes that's her actual voice she doesn't pitch it or shit like that she just likes to add a good echo or crackle effect for ✨the vibes ✨

You are the reason I do this, YOU are the reason I dive deep into albums I have NO idea about and may not be super well known! Thank YOU!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Amazed by all this infi! Need to see the movie with that snippet in omg! THANK YOU!!!!!
@@bennshouts this comment is what happens when I know waaaaaay too much about a thing an am unable to keep my piehole shut about it xD her ENTIRE DISCOG IS LIKE THIS YOURE IN FOR SUCH A TREAT HUNTING DOWN ALL THIS TRIVIA 🥺🥺🥺 ahhhhhh it's so cool seeing people get into her I'm never getting over this Ps the audio in this version of A Marvelous Persona is from an animated feature called The Halloween Tree - the demo version includes audio from a movie called Gummo too!
Ps thats not her actual voice or shit like that just watch one of her interview. She naturally pitches her voice when shes singing for a more angelic and ethereal effect which sounds wonderful.😊
I once fell asleep with my headphones in and In the Land played hours later, inducing the most terrifying disturbing nightmare with it playing in the background. I actually woke up and cried.
Nicole is in my top fav artists of all time, I'm obsessed with her songwriting and storytelling. This album is on my top favs too, i love the mood that she sets yk? ALSO, fun fact, Grimes helped her a lot to record and release this album, she even was an opening act for one of her concerts once I think.
I think one of the best parts of your channel is that you read the lyrics and truly attempt to get all you can out of a song upon first listen - since artists like Nicole or Ethel are very niche and difficult to find mutual fans of IRL, we’re trying to find people to relate with on their music- thanks for making this!
Angels of Porn ii is a re recording of her song in a previous album. it's a sensitive topic about her eating disorder. she stayed home for a year and she started making music.
I wanted to hug every face that you made for 27 minutes and 59 seconds! Beautiful to watch Nicole's music impact you the way that it does. And you are absolutely adorable. ❤
Lol I didn't realise all the fans loved her this much she is amazing and you should react to the rest of her stuff I love all of her music and have since like 2015
I'm still not over the fact I grew up literally a maximum of a five hour drive from THIS GENIUS. What is existence. Ohhhhhhmygod this video is a dopamine factory for me
This is my favorite album of hers! Alligator blood and Angels of P*rn feel very relatable to me, growing up in a toxic masculine/patriarchal household and constantly being around taxidermy and having bones on jewelry and scattered around, and constantly having to prove how tough you are in order to be respected. And Angels of P*rn being about how when you grow up with so much trauma you feel the need to let yourself be hypers*exualised and abused as well as being more likely to develop eating disorders. Whenever I'm at my worst these songs feel as though they incapsulate my life but I love them so much!!!
Just left a comment but I’d also like to say- I think that A Marvelous Persona samples Gummo (I know the demo version for sure does) but Gummo is once again playing into those quintessential American aesthetics- the sort of odd, deplorable lives of every day Americans in not the best living situations- look up images from it and I’m sure you’ll see why she connected the movie to this album! Also I interpret You’re So Cool as being about a high school boyfriend who is sort of on the edge of committing a violent act due to repression, pressure, unplaced anger, and being sheltered in a tight household- and I think the character is sort of watching him unfold from the outside and having this sort of fear as she watches him go through a metamorphosis into something terrible, but also still feeling empathetic and trying to bring him back down to earth, maybe a bit of unhealthy romanticization as well- like it kind of seems like she’s endlessly complimenting him but also pondering his state. My favorite lyric from that song- “you carry all that suffering like a gun between your arms”. It’s worth noting that earlier on in her discography she had a very controversial song called “Rampage” which samples audio from school video projects the Columbine shooters made before they committed their atrocities- and the song seems to be from the perspective of a girl who is dating one of them- so it could be an ode to something like that
You're so cool from what I understand was written for a boyfriend she had who was incarcerated. She said she wanted to write a pop song that could be played on the radio so he could hear it. At least that's what I remember reading.
I love how different brains come up with different images; the one I always get with White Trashing is a mobile home type setup 😂 don't ask me why don't ask me how, I have zero explanations I just find this shit absolutely fascinating I love coming back to this cause I always find something new to fixate on
