thats the feel ..WOWwwww.. i dont know how many ppl in got into fight with for a deal kite. i'm madly crazy about kites that i'm still flying kites which i preserved.and wherver i see kite shops i'll buy 10 kites atleast and store it. coz of me.. my kids and family are enjoying the pleasure of flying kites.. but strictly no to manja nowadays fatality will be more if allowed.. thanks for bringing all those memories back :)

Hi friends. During my young days I could not be without flying kites almost every Sunday evening during season times. (if I had a chance I would have done it everyday throughout the year!!). 2 reels of Poosukairu and around 10 or 12 Oru sheet baana kites would be sufficient to start my Sunday at 2 pm, and went on till it became dark. During this time my eyes, mind and thoughts were only on the sky. I used to forget everything!! I love Aathukairu manja as shown in this video! Thanks a lot dear friends for sharing this video! For a moment I went back to my young days and felt like I was on the terrace!!! Sadly and understandably for safety reasons everything is banned these days. During my chilhood days kite was everything for me in life, any size from Bombay Kaathadi to Ara sheet, Mukaa sheet, Oru sheet or Onea kaal Baana used to excite me so much. I love the Baana kathadi made from a bathai called 'Nandiyaal' kutchi. This bathai (with the combination of English paper) made the kite stable(stiff) and made it to rotate(perral) perfectly which was very important during deals. The sound from the paper when the kites soar high is the best music to my ears! Anyways there are many many things to say. I will stop here. Thanks friends for sharing this video!! Hats off to you!! everything is wrong! grind it well, use cloth to filter it, I don't remember adding iron rust, use kite with tail when applying manja so that kite is stable and fly very high, dip the thread into the pot or little wet the thread to absorb well, in advanced level - u may use button or some balls with thin hole for thread to apply the maanja evenly!, etc. sorry to be blunt because we loved it so much during 70's and 80's!!
iron rust is used in making Chinese manja.
Iron rust is just a belief that it gives more heat to our thread during deal. But actually it wont even stick to the thread. Every one puts it so we didnt want to miss on it

Wow,, that reminded me of goog old days when i used to fly kites in 70s.. preparation of manja was little bit harmful.. but we used to dry it before we fly the kite... thanks for posting.. now my children are interested in flytes.
