    The total number of deaths in the Romanian Revolution was 1,104, of which 162 were from the protests that led to the overthrow of Ceaușescu (16-22 December 1989) and 942 during the fighting that occurred after the seizure of power by the new FSN. The number of wounded was 3,352, of which 1,107 occurred while Ceaușescu was still in power and 2,245 after the FSN took power.[50][51] Official figures place the death toll of the revolution at 689 people, many of whom were civilians.[5]

    0:40 "The death toll is put at between 70-80 thousand people with 300 thousand injured". Actual numbers: 1100 died, 3300 injured. Interesting that the West said they would back a Soviet invasion to help the anti-Ceausescu side.

    • @WiseCity
      @WiseCity Рік тому +4

      Soviet invasion was intended to back Iliescu but Gorbachiev put the breaks on that idea, telling Iliescu via phone that a direct interference from the ussr would compromise the "new ussr"'s image, therefor iliescu must deal with it within romania and nothing more

    • @roaddog6022

      It is interesting. Communist Romania was rather unique in Communist Eastern Europe. Ceausescu wanted to be more independent from soviet influence and had a strained if not negative relationship with both the Soviet Union and Warsaw pact as well as the western alliance. Since the military sided with the rebels and the continued collapse of the Warsaw pact it was believed that any military intervention from either the soviets or the west would more than likely back the revolution

      You have to remember that when it comes to Communist countries the Western mainstream media are contracturally obliged to amplify figures by at least 10,000 percent for the purposes of manufacturing consent amongst sheeples.

    • @machiavelliq8758

      Cause the Securitate(Security) were good at spreading rumours and had far reach so it was easy to move around if people didn't believe it was romanian snipers.I remember in Craiova they gave guns to employees(one of them my father) who sat 3 days and night in trenches around the factory cause they were "warned" of terrorist attacks.They were diversion tactics, it was a chaotic time full of confusion and death.

    Very interesting how so easily, from nowhere, the *british reporter* found (again, very very easily) an english language speaker romanian soldier. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
    Facts: english language in Romania was not taught in schools at all, more than that english movies/music/tv/newspapers/magazine *WERE NOT TO BE FOUND AT ALL IN ROMANIA BEFORE 1989* let alone a soldier from nowhere (romanian soldiers used to be considered stupid and very low iq). If any luck, the british reporter could find a Russian language speaker soldier, but no way english.
    Note: the english accent is easily spoted.
    Any romanian reading this comment, please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Very very interesting.
    🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
    Note 2 : please observe how easily and quickly that *"romanian soldier"* understand what he's asked in english by the british reporter, at some point the british reporter doesn't even finish his question and the soldier shake his head affirmatively...🤔🤔🤔🤔

      yes indeed. Tho some american movies were illegally spread on vhs tapes before 90. And also some music with english lyrics in them. But is a very, very very thin chance to find a common soldiers who speaks and more important understand english. Is a set up interview for sure.
