Thank you for watching! This was a long time coming, and a very fun video to make. Clarifying one thing: It's a generally agreed upon rule to skip the first Deku Cycle in this challenge since the first Deku cycle runs at increased speed compared to the first Hylian Link cycle. I had this in the video at some point, but it made the intro drag on too long, so I recorded a shorter explanation after cutting the first but... forgot to actually insert it? Wouldn't be an EonAegis video if there wasn't some massive glaring oversight, I guess! I'm sorry if that confused anyone. Also, I know Smiffic made a video recently-ish. That video is really good! But I want to clarify - no, he did not do it first on UA-cam either. As far as I can tell, that was @Seahawk0027, 10 years ago. I deliberately did not watch Smiffic's video when it came out as I wanted to route this out myself. Please understand that multiple creators can make the same thing, completely seperate from one another. This happens all the time!
This sounds like an interesting challenge; I like the idea that Link is like "ffs we must get rid of that moon like RIGHT NOW!", and speedruns the whole game. It feels more elegant to beat everything without warping back to the First Day when you technically don't need to do it.
As soon as this thing posted, I was playing the 3DS version. I got to the final boss when I noticed the video clicked on it and immediately watched it and as soon as you beat the final boss, so did I lol
in general, majora goes down like a bitch to zora link, especially majora’s wrath because of the barrier basically making you immune to getting grabbed
11:55 the wizrobe shows up 5 times throughout the game. twice in snowhead, once in castle ikana, once in stone tower temple, and one last time in the secret shrine
You actually don't need to watch Darmani go to the cave. once you get the lens, just warp to mountain village and go to the grave, Darmani will be there without needing to wait. You still need to talk to him before the song of healing will work, so the lens is still needed.
I first attempted this challenge with the 3DS version, but I'm not sure if its possible. The main reason being that the Inverted Song of Time doesn't triple how much time you have in a cycle anymore, making the beeline from Woodfall to Snowhead back to Milk Road seemingly impossible. It could be possible, but I definitely don't have the skills to pull it off
You can't if you've never had beans before! In an earlier attempt, he just told me I didn't know how to use them. You have to get the freebean from the bean seller at least once!
Someone else did it first, actually ;) MM in one cycle with completed Anju & Kafei isn't actually too much of a hassle. Pick up Kafei's Mask before going into Woodfall Temple or right after it depending on how your clock is looking when you're there, and stop by the inn with it before you head out to Epona. You can then meet with Anju at nighttime, at 12:30. From there, you just need to make pitstops at the correct timings, but time isn't as tight anymore by that point as you can see from the video(s) :)
Majora's Mask is my favorite game & good video. The song If the World Should End by Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga reminds me a lot of Anju & Kafei as the world is ending & they're trying to be together for their last few hours
Thank you! :D Technically, @Seahawk0027 did it first. Smiffic and I just had the same idea in the recent years, and while my attempts graduated from single segment practices to full runs around the time he released his video, I can promise you I've done the work myself. Thank you for understanding :)
@@EonAegis Woah, UA-cam really did not want to show me Seahawk's channel. I searched fairly thoroughly and never found them, but sure enough they did it a whole decade ago.
Congrats on the run, very entertaining to watch! One thing this makes me wonder is if it would be possible to 100% Majora's Mask (that is, get all the masks, bottles, heart pieces, and great fairy rewards) in 3 days, since that would be the theoretical minimum for the Kafei/Anju sidequest splits - one cycle for Blast Mask and All-Night Mask, one for giving the express mail to the mailman, and one for delivering it straight to Mama. With glitches, you could bring the theoretical minimum to two cycles, since you can use a glitch to keep the express mail on a C-Button after giving it to the mailman, but I don't know if you could do everything else in those two cycles. EDIT: I meant three cycles, not days. Game can't be 100%ed in three days, obviously. :P
Thank you! I have been looking into a theoretical minimum. I think three cycles (glitchless) should be more than possible - the hardest thing really will be making enough space on the first run's first 12 hours. On the other hand, you won't have to fit all four dungeon clears into one cycle, so it might actually turn out easier than that. I'll be looking into that, and maybe 2 cycles :o Edit: I'm 100% certain 2 cycles isn't possible even with the express mail glitch. It's not because of the Express Mail itself but the circumstances around the Kafei quest to begin with. The All-Night's Mask and Couple's Mask are at odds with one another; You get the couples mask at the final day, final hours, and it must be used in the morning of any of the three days. This would be fine, except the All Night Mask can't be used during the final day as well. These two masks are mutually exclusive to one another, as they are dependent on Sakon, the thief. If Sakon is stopped on night 1, the Kafei quest does not conclude, so no couple's mask. However, if Sakon isn't stopped, the All Night Mask isn't put on sale on the final night. Since both of these require the next cycle, the theoretical minimum stays at 3 (4 if Deku Cycle is counted) even if you were to allow the express mail glitch.
No, saving the Bomb Shop lady which also allows the purchase of the All Night Mask stops the progress of the Kafei and Anju Side Quest on night 2. You also have to go through the Kafei and Anju Sidequest through day 3 twice to get both a bottle and the Postman's Hat. 100% is at least 4 cycle including Deku.
I lost a lot of time, so I'm thinking it *could* be possible... but you only get 66% of the time you get in the N64 version since reverse time only slows you down to 50% speed instead of 33% speed. This mostly makes getting Epona a hassle among other adjustments that'll need to be made. I'm going to try, though.
@@EonAegis I tried to get to the ranch before 6pm on the first day, but when I had entered the first temple and was on my way to get the bow it was already after noon, the nerf to the inverted song of time makes it impossible

@@EonAegis damn ive been brainstorming and just realized that if you save the old lady for the bomb mask, then you can't do the anju kafei quest. actually impossible :(
It'd be a harder challenge to find someone interested in a challenge video for this game that *doesn't* already understand that's implied since there's no way around it and it's identical every time
I did a 3 day perfect run another day. For my rules, basically you need to save all 4 temples, complete (almost) the bomber notebook, get all the fairies, fight the bosses of the waterfall in Ikana and do some side quests to help some of the people (like Kafey and Anju, the postman, help write a music for the zoras, get the bottles and others). All of these exactly after getting the ocarina. It is massive work, especially in the first part of day 1, but it is fun. It's a "master quest" mode.
Doing all that is quite literally impossible, several entries in the bomber notebook alone are mutually exclusive and can't be done in the same cycle But you seem to know what you're talking about, please, post your own video proving all that is legit kek
@@Pappingy There is no need to be upset. I fix it my post. It's almost all of the bomber notebook, happy now? Well, it is still a difficult and challenging run
The MM community considers the one cycle run from the second cycle's start for that reason, although it is also theoretically possible to one cycle with more extensive glitch usage. Zelda 64 is utterly broken by this point though, so I prefer to avoid using things like that in my challenges if it can be avoided.
@@EonAegis i have a challenge for you can you beat mojaras mask without ever using your sword this sounds easy but idk maybe it's difficult but the goal is to 100% the game without ever using the sword just to make the video longer
A true first cycle without glitches is impossible. There is too much travel time required, and the first cycle actually runs on much faster time than subsequent cycles. Just compare the speed of the day to night/night to day clock and you can very easily notice this! Even if an exploit existed to allow you to get out of deku form immediately at 6AM Day 1 and also get the deku mask at the same time since it'd be required to get through deku palace, it'd be impossible to finish Day 1 fast enough on the sped up first cycle.
