BlackNChaos Yes, unlike many of the other B movies where the monsters just don't look realistic and cheesy, Pumpkin head ranked up there with the quality of Aliens and The Thing for effects as the great Stan Winston was behind it. It was a great movie!
shinmusashi44 I feel like you're missing the most important part of my comment... "but that's just my opinion." So in my opinion, which clearly varies from yours, I think the Graboids should be #1. Carl Jones The writers of Troll hunter did a great job! It's such a great movie to watch, especially if you're from Norway, since it references a lot of the stories we grew up with as well as some topics that were quite big here at the time.
"These trolls aren't anything like those found in fairy tales or myths though. In fact, they're about as menacing and horrific as they come." They're pretty much like the trolls in Norwegian fairy tales and myths, actually. Because, you know, that's what they're based on.
***** None of the other ones had as many sequels, nor did any of the other ones have a TV show even if SciFi at the time treated it like a redheaded step child, and lets not forget Tremors had some serious star power with Kevin Bacon, and Reba McEntire to back up the Graboids.

+Aidan Battcher You mean just the opposite and I will do ya one better. Pretty sure Games Workshop stole the Pumpkinhead look for their first iteration Gene Stealers. They changed them later on, but the first ones looked almost exactly like this.
+IIxMadManxIIMedia Actually, the Deathclaw was based on an unused design for the Tarrasque from a D&D game the same creators were working on. Though, speaking of D&D, I will say that as the editions went on, the Bone Demon kept getting more and more Pumpkinhead-y in design...
Watched it with my gf at the time solely because it was spouted as a good. Monster/horror movie. It really wasn't all that good and just kind of dragged on, we were both bored by the lackluster flick, at least it was just rented.
I think it's a great monster movie, definitely not a horror movie, if you were looking for a horror movie, I understand your disappointment. I like especially the camera, the framing, the feelings, it's unlike anything I've ever seen done in America.
+MAJER Crew It's actually one of the worst movies I've seen. Too bad such a cool monster ended up in such a dull movie. Not to mention how he was animated - the fight scenes were truly terrible, in a bad sense.
I wouldn't call Ghoulies, Pumpkinhead, The Host "lesser-known". Many horror movies buffs know about them. And who the hell doesn't know "Tremors" movies?
Lesser known monsters Look up "feast" (2005). That movie is hard core, so if you're queasy don't watch. Dragons are well known. But Dragon Slayer (1981) was ahead of it's time for dragon effects and is not widely known now maybe. "The Stuff" (1985) was cool. Kind of like The Blob but sicker. "Eight Legged Freaks". "The Burrowers" (2008) turned out to be quite good IMO. Looks like a western. Nope, monster movie. "Grabbers" (2012). Worth watching. "Humaniods from the Deep" (1980) All I can say is... fishmen killing a raping their way through a movie. "Slither". (2006) "Near Dark" (1987) "House" (1986) You wont regret watching this one. "Night of the Creeps" (1986) Lesser known cult classic. Don't know if they're considered "lesser known" monsters but 'Nightbreed" is an all time favorite of mine. "The Keep" (1983) had a great memorable monster in it.
ahabtheplant the list is for "lesser known" monsters. Im pretty sure graboids are too popular to make the list but unpopular enough for a Honorable Mention. Rawhead shouldve been listed though.
Pumpkinhead is still one of my favorite horror movies. And even though it's goofy and weird by today's standards, Basket Case freaked me out when I saw it as a kid.
The Relic is one of the best monster flicks out there, IMO. The the dark/gloomy atmosphere through out the film worked (there's something eerie about museums), not to mention the mystery of the monster's origin was a nice touch. A well made monster flick that most missed or have forgotten.

Gymeny Hyde It would be nice to see a reboot of tales from the crypt, maybe not as a show but a small series. I watched it when i was 3, i owe my creepy personality to that show. It made me the sex crazed, gore seeking, hack n slash guy that i am! I thought a lot of people knew about Ghoulies. Swear Svengoolie played it. Thought everyone knew Pumpkin Head. Swear that was a classic movie. Haven't seen Host in awhile and I love Mimic. Oh the Claw, saw that a long time ago.
So glad to see The Giant Claw in the top spot. It's my favorite really bad movie monster - and monster movie - and always has been. The bird is hilarious, as is the dialogue!
+Hyapin the movie is from the 80's. I rented it 20 years ago from a movie rental. it has never been released on DVD so unless you rented the vhs you probably never will see it. sad cause it's a great movie. one of Clive barkers early movies.

BenJamin Croft You Forgot The Thing From "The Thing From Another World" That Alien is a classic, yet few People even talk about this Strong,powerfull,blood-drinking creature! I say it deserves some recognition! as for The Claw,it`s Stupid! it looks Dumb, and it`s Movement is stupid
waynec38 You're right. Not that many people remember this one too. I've heard it to the grape vine that this movie is what actually inspired John Carpenter to make his movie "The Thing" in the first place. That's what inspired me to watch it years ago too.
TheZombiekid21 .The Eternity Freak Not really. If you ask around now a days, "You remember that movie "The Blob?" They look at you like a deer in headlights.

Precisely!! Personally,i feel the 1st one is the best,Because it`s less gross,is more humorous,More suspencefull, and you just plain like the caracters in the movie More!! Why didn't they have the Humanoid Monster on the list? It`s not Very Well-Known,Either!
"You take these off: she looks normal, right? Then you put them on: FORMALDEHYDE FACE!" XD The multiple aliens from Evolution were pretty freaky, especially the giant black amoeba...thing...
Jared Evans it doesn't matter. The video is called "lesser known." Having it being cool is just based around opinion and it isn't even relevant to the title.
Synfaxed I don't know who pumpkin head is but that's because I don't do scary movies. However, I could have gone my entire life and knot known about The Giant Claw. Perfect #1.
I swear the Relic gave me nightmares when I was a kid... And that witch movie about a woman got stuck in the escalator.. they both gave me nightmares I think the movie was called The Kiss
If you grew up in the 80s then quite a few of these are far from lesser known, but several were brand new to me, which is awesome. Now I've got to go watch some movies!
Am I the only Tremors fan? I love these movies!

Tremors and pumpkinhead are classics. Definitely not lesser known. How about Puppet Masters (no not the one with the little doll creatures), the one with the aliens.
The Alien creatures a.k.a. Xenomorphs. They were actually created by the Predator race as the ultimate prey for them.
The Puppet Masters was based on a Heinlein book and not related to the xenomorphs. Great movie too.
I actually liked them both. I loved the movies with the homicidal little dolls AND the alien one, was that Donald Sutherland???
Great movies from my childhood.
@@briancox8443 yes, Donald Sutherland.
Never seen the alien movie but I love the martinet version. My bro loves them too.

I did. Apparently it's "not for little kids". No problem here because a little isn't watching.
"The Host" is a really great South Korean horror/comedy movie. I recommend it to anyone.
angelinajoanie yes! I love that movie 😄
Only reason I watched this list was to see if it was on here.
Really ? I was disappointed with it . It made no internal sense , there was no suspense and there was no ' Host ' in it !
It's from Bong-Joon Ho, right? The director of Snowpiercer, Okja and Parasite.
@@gosforthlad The monster was the host. It was (supposedly) carrying a virus.

Interesting fact only Norwegian, Icelandic, and Swedish trolls eat people. Danish trolls are much more friendly according to their mythology.

Carl Jones The writers of Troll hunter did a great job! It's such a great movie to watch, especially if you're from Norway, since it references a lot of the stories we grew up with as well as some topics that were quite big here at the time.
Jadys awesome, I actually prefer the Norwegian version over the English dub, even though I don't speak Norwegian myself
Carl Jones A friend of mine from England says the same thing. Otto Jespersen's gruff voice is great. ;-)
“Inappropriate or offensive to some audiences”?
What? How is this considered offensive?
"These trolls aren't anything like those found in fairy tales or myths though. In fact, they're about as menacing and horrific as they come." They're pretty much like the trolls in Norwegian fairy tales and myths, actually. Because, you know, that's what they're based on.

I thought a lot of people knew about Ghoulies. Swear Svengoolie played it. Thought everyone knew Pumpkin Head. Swear that was a classic movie. Haven't seen Host in awhile and I love Mimic. Oh the Claw, saw that a long time ago.
I wonder why nobody ever mentions Rawhead Rex The king of all B horror movie monsters.
Rawhead Rex I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING
RAW HEAD REX, lesser known movie monster....
daniel boyd cooper Raw Head Rex is damn near impossible to find!! I can't believe it's not on this top ten list. That movie was awesome!!
ape in madmax apocalypse suit ?
@@FrostSoul-qs6kq Old deity. Very good B movie for the time.
@@Lex60 it doesn't show up for some reason
I remember renting the VHS tape from my local video store , in the early nineties.
So glad to see The Giant Claw in the top spot. It's my favorite really bad movie monster - and monster movie - and always has been. The bird is hilarious, as is the dialogue!
come on everyone knows pumpkin head.
I know right almost watched that movie more than spongebob
Not everyone... I love Pumpkinhead, but when I ask people if they've heard of it, they're just like "wth is that?"
+Hyapin how bout raw head rex?
Headcase
I've actually never heard of it, but I saw it being mentioned in the comments. When I looked it up, the creature does look familiar.
+Hyapin the movie is from the 80's. I rented it 20 years ago from a movie rental. it has never been released on DVD so unless you rented the vhs you probably never will see it. sad cause it's a great movie. one of Clive barkers early movies.
that alien.. attack the block looks like ben10s first form.. its just color black
+Chazel Rhuette It's black Wildmutt. Thank fuck i wasn't the only juan
lol. yeah, it actually does look A LOT like Wildmutt
+Chazel Rhuette Huh...a black Mildmutt...you know what that means.
+XxTRGxX Productions that it doesnt know its father?
BISH, YOU GUESSED IT! Huh! You's right.
What? No Killer Tomatoes?
That's well known.
Brenda Conklin So are the monsters from Tremors, but they at least got an honorable mention. :(
No one knows the killer tomatoes. I haven't even watched this whole video yet, but it upsets me to see that Killer toms ain't on here. :/
That and Critters should have at least got a mention.
Karen Fahel Killer Tomatoes got an animated series and a videogame. Too much fame for this list.
Rawhead rex, the demon from Split Second, Oxcom from watchers, project metalbeast, and dog soldiers were some other B movie monsters that I liked
the relic is a really cool movie!
the book is way better
I thought Graboids would be #1.
Same or ass-blasters
Google sucks But Graboids are well known.
Mr Graboid or Shriekers.
TimpsterTheDude So are TROLLS!
***** Not really. Few people genuinely know of the trolls that way.
You should have shown more of the Larde Jutne! That troll is huge compared to the other trolls!
Daenerys Targaryen You seem to know quite a bit about trolls ;)
UnkeptMoss328 yes, yes I do, it's worth a watch if you're intending on going on the internet ;)
There's 3 rules:
1. Carry a torch
2. Stink like a troll
3. Run!
(Taken from troll hunter survival guide)
***** I don't think so?
Daenerys Targaryen Wow, that's some really wise advice ;) hahaha
Yep, although they mostly leave you alone as long as you don't carry... an opinion!
UnkeptMoss328 ;)
Oh yes! The unspoken rule.. have no opinion! :)
The fucked up thing about Belial is that despite being a monstrous growth twin he is technically a human too
06:35 isn't that the black dude is the same actor from Star Wars 7 Force Awakens??
+ming lap Chung Attack The Block was John Boyega's breakout role.
+remliqa I remember that shit from heart
+ming lap Chung TRAITOR! ;)
+ming lap Chung in that movie u will see John Boyega (The Force Awakens) and Franz Drameh (Legends of Tomorrow)

BenJamin Croft I'd agree with everything here except for The Blob, I'm pretty sure a good amount of people are aware of it's existence.
BenJamin Croft" You're right. Not that many people remember this one too. I've heard it to the grape vine that this movie is what actually inspired John Carpenter to make his movie "The Thing" in the first place. That's what inspired me to watch it years ago too." Precisely!! Personally,i feel the 1st one is the best,Because it`s less gross,is more humorous,More suspencefull, and you just plain like the caracters in the movie More!! Why didn't they have the Humanoid Monster on the list? It`s not Very Well-Known,Either!

Loved Trollhunter, really cool movie. Surprised me first time when I saw it how well made it was!
Where are the crites from critters??
There well known
Mr Graboid They are?
Yea there more well known than GRABOIDS
Mr Graboid Really? I always thought Critters was a relatively unknown franchise.
Lone Avenger Yeah, I'd have thought Critters was mostly unknown. At least, I believe the franchise isn't that well known.
Ghoulies looks and sounds just like a Gremlins rip off.
From what I read online, they are as well as the Critters movies.
I've seen a couple of Critters movies, they absolutely do take a lot of inspiration from Gremlins.
A Giant monster bird really?
How did that get first place
What?
+Nick Montes ok
Okay what?
Nick Montes yeah
Yeah I love monster movies and I do like the Tremors franchise and trollhunter was good you know I love them all
Damn. I thought I was the only one that remembers basket case
Katahdin from Prophecy should have been on the list.
Agreed.
+Hank Murphy Hell yeah!
+Hank Murphy You mean Man-Bear-Pig zombie
+Nikos Zedd I prefer "Killer Vienna Sausage"
+Hank Murphy Absolutely!
Pumpkinhead....? Lesser known....?
The fuck outta here....
Yes, because he shows up in every top 10 horror movie monsters list.
Well known my ass.
+Zeriaп really? I knew who he was when I was 7
+AJ Miller Never heard of him before I watched this video.
right every Halloween its on tv
+Jake Lapp exactly(me 2)
"You take these off: she looks normal, right? Then you put them on: FORMALDEHYDE FACE!" XD
The multiple aliens from Evolution were pretty freaky, especially the giant black amoeba...thing...
"The Beast" from *Krull* (1983).
"Having a gigantic wild boar terrorize the Australian outback is never good," try saying that to Roadhog and Junkrat
Pumpkin head should be number 1...
No it shouldn't everyone knows what pumpkin head is. The Giant Claw is something that kids don't know about nowadays.
Synfaxed The monster has to be cool...Giant Claw is not cool.
Perfect #1.
Was hoping to see the Lurkers from Phantasm on here, still a great list.
thank you for showing Pumpkinhead....one of the most underrated scfi horror movies. how does Tremor and Relic only get an honorific mention.
I loved the Relic...I enjoyed the museum backdrop.
...nothing like the trolls of myth, huh? I think Scandinavia and Norway might disagree...
we do.
Tj Locke .. Norway is a part of Scandinavia, but yes we do.
Where's Splinter? It should be at least #2 on this list. It's terrifying.
Great Video! *These monsters are terrifying but also amazing*
The thingy from the movie splinter is really cool
Pumkin head had a similar appearance similar to the Xenomorph.
Well, Stan Winston, who worked on "Aliens" and its creature effects, also did Pumpkinhead (also directed it).
Assassin Aquilus And Raw Head Rex.
closer to a Genestealer imo
Assassin Aquilus makes sense. It was created by Stan Winston. Winston worked on Aliens.
Because the guy who did the Xenomorph design did the Pumkinhead design
Pumpkinhead should have been #1.
Kathoga from The Relic is such an underrated monster designed by the legendary Stan Winston
On my list Pumpkinhead would have been much higher. First time I saw that movie that monster scared the crap out of me!!! LOl
mrhoffame yes yes and yes, my grandma had it on VHS and I watched it when I was like 8 absolutely terrifying
Tyler Clark same here
Tyler Clark same I was like seven I was scared out of my mine
mrhoffame I grew up to that movie as a 90's kid. Do you remember Raw Head Rex?
through yourlover Raw Head Rex?? That doesn't ring a bell..though sounds like something stupid I would LOVE to watch lol.
What about the giant ants in the movie "Them!"?
Yeah but it's a cult film and widely known
Not necessarily. In fact, they're hardly mentioned in anyone else's movie monsters lists.
The movie's widely known but like you said, probably not the giant ants.
I was scared to sit on the toilet for weeks after watching Ghoulies 2.
Massive Trigger Gaming ikr
Massive Trigger Gaming -I'ma- you gonna shit in a trash can now
Massive Trigger Gaming the sequel's weren't that good. Very cheesy. I loved the little bald one. So damn cute!!
I swear the Relic gave me nightmares when I was a kid... And that witch movie about a woman got stuck in the escalator..
they both gave me nightmares I think the movie was called The Kiss
What is the name of the monster in the thumbnail?
Pumpkinhead
Awwww...c'mon man! What about the Feast series??
Yeah! I was thinking about the same thing too!

I love this moveie..
If you grew up in the 80s then quite a few of these are far from lesser known, but several were brand new to me, which is awesome. Now I've got to go watch some movies!
I loved Tremors. Also Mimic.
No Critters from Critters? there is 4 movies
Crites.
yaa
What about puppet master
i think he falls in the category of evil geniuses
+king milltonius The man himself, perhaps, but his family of living puppets...so deserving to be here.
Yea Becuase those puppts are killer
Rawhead Rex, Alligator, Neon Maniacs, Spookies & Q are a few of my lesser known movie monsters
wildmutt or vulpimancers except they have black fur and glowing teeth
Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed that.

What about the creature from Deep Rising?
John Cleveland Deep Rising should be getting more attention these days.
Michael Santana I'm want a sequel.
Ya, and for some reason Deep Rising received mostly negative reviews from critics and became a Box Office Bomb. I enjoyed the film.
Michael Santana Same Here.
Gamera
codster9 Is it because he's friend to children?
codster9 Hardly a "lesser known" monster.
Mugi wara Perhaps. But I still don't feel Gamera gets enough attention.
codster9 True, but us with the monster know how, know tha Gamera is a boss.
Troll Hunter is one of the best movies I've ever seen.
