@ I agree with this 100% Many fans gave them this impression by constantly saying they want dark and violent. Many think that's all there was to Daredevil. There was character building, Catholicism, etc. that requires good writing. They proved they were clueless with the Echo trailer, comparing that to Netflix Daredevil/ Showed King pin punching a man with bloody fist, thinking that's all there is to that character. Hopefully Born Again trailer didn't pull this mess and show all the best parts to fool people.
@ Agree. The fact that the trailer has Easter eggs from the Disney Plus and continues after Echo is concerning. Disney is trying to mask this as a season 4 but the trailer says otherwise. King pin got the idea to run for Mayor in the post credits for Echo. We see the mask he wore in She Hulk in the trailer and we see the Rogers musical advertisement from the Hawkeye series. The leaked trailer showed Ms. Marvel dad. It was the same trailer we got, minus that scene. I'm very cautiously optimistic.
Great video, Mr. H. This shows the showrunner doesn't understand Netflix's Daredevil or he feels the need to tear it down in order to prop up Disney's Daredevil. All action all the time is easy. Building characters up through dialog is very hard. Disney can't do it.

Do these writers have TikTok brains? That's what people like most from the Daredevil series which is having two people talking. Even The Penguin succeeds in just having people talking. The best moments are when two people talking. Characters and dialogue are very important.

I love the Netflix series, love it. But, I do agree that there are areas where the fat could have been trimmed in areas. *Example:* there's a scene where Fisk literally explains to Vanessa that the cufflinks he wears were his father's, then explains what they represent, and why he wears them. All of this follows an extensive backstory and establishing shots that already sell this idea flawlessly.
Insulting one of the best things to ever come out of the MCU in order to do PR for your sequel is the most interesting marketing stunt I’ve seen. Also confirms the worry that this will be all action and no brains also scrubbing all Catholicism from Matt’s character where he wrestles with his nature and his faith.
I agree with both of you. I've wanted a 'Sin City', type show and the more characters, the less dialogue because I'd want the same tight pacing as the film. A Hell's Kitchen character soup, so to speak.
Being worried about this statement is totally justified, I certainly do and they absolutely *weren’t* the show at its worst. He should’ve phrased it differently, I think this is the case of the show having its own identity while being a continuation. Matt’s already got everything figured out at the end of the original and with born again he’ll certainly tackle something different for this storyline.
Yet what people loved in the trailer for born again again was Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk coming face to face and reflecting (two characters in a room talking). Daredevil is fundamentally an introspective character.
The Netflix show was shot well and the action was superb but the drama needed to step up, it was weak and that's exactly what the new guy has identified.
Bit of a PR disaster a month before the show releases. The original Daredevil is one of my favourite ever tv shows and the only reason the action scenes resonated so much is because of the character moments in between. I dont really have any interest in action scenes when I don't give a shit about the character. Hopefully he has just fumbled the interview and the show will be good as the fans deserve it.
Action can tell a story though. For example if you see a crime being committed what do you do do you get involved, call the police, or run away? Each of those says something about who you are. I don't think the new series is going to be non stop action but there's a lot to cover.
That's everything i hate about most modern shows. The writers hate dialogue scenes nowadays. Peak television like Star Trek or Game of Thrones were about dialogues.

Yeah, those are the consequences of having to produce a 13 episode a season show on a shoestring budget. That was the magic of that show. That it could feel like a billion dollar crime drama because the actors elevated the dialogue and that the action scenes were done deliberately chaotic to hide their inability to shoot it more stylistically. I don't think a single person watching that show got impatient because there were too many long increments between action scenes. A streaming show is designed to tell a single story rather than it be episodic or formulaic. It's going to be split into three acts. You're going to get the introduction episodes during the beginning. The problem rises in the middle episodes. And the climactic third act happening throughout the final episodes. You're going to get an entire episode where two people are just talking. That's the way a streaming series will flow. You can't have it pacing the same in every episode.
If the Disney show ends up as a dumpster fire, this showrunner is going to epically get roasted online. Either way fans win. Show is great and we are happy or show stinks and we roast them into tears.

Problem with modern MCU is the super-heroes aren't "heroes" anymore. We don't have an origin or explanation as to why they want to save people, it's even dubious if they even want to. It's all "me, me, me" with some super-powers involved. Let's hope that comment doesn't mean just that.
Can't say I'm surprised. Disney's superpower is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Apparently bringing the writers from the Netflix show on board isn't the win that some fans had thought it would be. 🤔 This is going to be 💩. Sorry not sorry.
God I hope its not gonna be ALL ACTION! Am guessing the directors are Elvis fans. (A little less conversation, a little more action, please) lol Like I know we usually say " SHOW DONT TELL" BUT if the fight scenes are ANYTHING like what we got on She Hulk or Echo, then this is going to be a DISASTER! They've already ruined Kingpin with Hawkeye n Echo, n almost ruined DD on She Hulk. Please God, dont let them ruin The Punisher too. I hope its good, but with Disneys track record, I wouldnt bet on it.
I think these people should just stop talking, all they do is give the audience negative mindsets before they even watch it and then act all shocked and surprised saying nobody gave it a chance
The philosophizing can only go on so long. As the hero progresses he shouldn't STILL be wondering what a hero is years into doing it. That became a problem in The Walking Dead where ten years into surviving the apocalypse the characters were still constantly pontificating about their humanity blah blah. Gets repetitive and boring.
Was there filler? not that much that really, I guess you could argue that in some episodes there were "wasted energy" but I think we all were engaged with the series. I dont understand what the point of even making these comments? Why not just say they are building upon the great foundation?
I think the R rating is going to Disneys head again!! you continued the netflix show because it was fucking sick!! and the punisher Netflix made theses heros good not you, remember what you nob ends did to the punisher comics 😂😂what a joke that was. And the reason your continued the Netflix shows cause fans ain't having it anymore.thank you Netflix..
He's not wrong. Season 1 of Daredevil had that one episode where Matt is recovering from a beating and he talks to Foggy for the entire episode. I realized it was a bottle episode and Foggy's acting was particularly bad as well. I hate bottle episodes. I don't want to listen to Matt and Foggy mope and brood for 60 minutes.
@Skulduggery_TV no he never said that but why repeat something similar. We the audience and Daredevil the character knows how to be a hero. Yeah I hope so considering it's not his first rodeo. We also don't need a full episdoe just talking. You can still have great character moments of talking without it taking majority of an episode. Which sure understandable as well when they have to cut costs.
@@raf686 I mean, shows like Breaking Bad and Star Trek have shown that you can have episodes of just people talking and have it be amazing. And no one is saying he needs to question what it means to be a hero either. He's had that character arc, as you say, amd I do agree with you in some respects. but the showrunner's remark that the show was "at it's worst" when it took time to actually focus on characters, and their complexities is horrifically disingenuous. It wasn't just "two people in a room talking" it was to long time friends falling out because one of them had kept a massive secret from them for years. When Frank and Matt are arguing in season two, it isn't two people just talking on a rooftop. It's two broken men with vastly different ideologies trying to make the other see their point of view. Character conflict doesn't just have to be endless action with one-liners, and not every episode has to be a hallway fight.
So he's mad. He was told to make the show like the Netflix series, in connection I mean. That clearly made him mad so he's trashing the original. But he failed to realize that plans change. Get over it.
Nope. All different writers. None of them are from the Daredevil Netflix show. I think one is a writer from Loki I looked them all up, some of them have CW credits. One was a writer for Arrow and another is a writer from Naomi. Many are lying saying they brought back the same writers.
@ Yea I forgot about one of the writers writing for the Punisher, my point was none of these people wrote for Daredevil Netflix like many are claiming. I didn't really like the Punisher series. He was best in Daredevil season 2. Punisher season 2 was just bad in my opinion.
It’s going to be dog turd … no one is going to watch it because we don’t care anymore and Disney have spent the last 5 years shitting on their core audiences. Comic book fans are star wars fans, there’s huge crossover and we ain’t coming back until there’s competent leadership at Marvel, Lucasfilm and Disney overall. That probably won’t happen until they file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and someone comes in and restructures the entire Shit Show.

@@Seyed235 The show will do just fine
They are not going to disrespect the Netflix series
Charlie Cox and Vincent D'onofrio have creative input
The entire show has not been rewritten and Charlie Cox has said that what was already shot and written pre overhaul, was brilliantly done to the characters
Matt will still have deep conversations
What the showrunner said, is mainly talking about the 13 episode mandate
@@terrellthaddies7867 they already disrespected the Netflix series with Echo and Hawkeye.
That’s 1 L for you. (technically 2 since Hawkeye and Echo are 2 separate shows, but I’ll be nice)
Where is your source that Charlie and Vincent have creative input? Charlie will say what he needs to say to keep his job, like anyone would. Nothing you’ve given so far bodes any confidence.
“Matt will still have deep conversations”
Wow, really feeling the optimism with that one. You definitely persuaded me. I’m starting to think you’re trying to convince yourself more than anyone else.
Do you have any ACTUAL arguments here? Or are you really just telling us to trust Disney after all the shit they’ve done? You may like being a battered wife, but most of us don’t. I’m staying cautious.
@@terrellthaddies7867Ok, that lives up to the expectations. I just hope so when the show comes out. I’m so tired of getting stuck of the mindset in the past
This is going to be 💩. Sorry not sorry.
'Naval' gazing... you mean staring at ships?
Possibly staring at the bellybuttons of crew on military ships? 🤷🏻♂️
The poopdeck?
The original Netflix show wasn't without its faults.
Wish they would just hire the writers from the netflix show and let them continue the story
Yeah that’s called character building. 😶
I personally liked the Netflix shows.
《DEIsney + Daredevil = DareDEIvil》
...the difference between a "Show RUNNER" & a "Show RUN it into the GROUND Before it Even Releases"...
👽 🖖 🤖
God I hope its not gonna be ALL ACTION!
Am guessing the directors are Elvis fans.
(A little less conversation, a little more action, please) lol
Like I know we usually say " SHOW DONT TELL" BUT if the fight scenes are ANYTHING like what we got on She Hulk or Echo, then this is going to be a DISASTER!
They've already ruined Kingpin with Hawkeye n Echo, n almost ruined DD on She Hulk.
Please God, dont let them ruin The Punisher too.
I hope its good, but with Disneys track record, I wouldnt bet on it.
That's why i have no interest in even watching the trailer. Disney going to Disney
I think these people should just stop talking, all they do is give the audience negative mindsets before they even watch it and then act all shocked and surprised saying nobody gave it a chance
At worse it's about 2 people talking about what a hero is.
Isn't She Hulk about people, talking about feeling shite men are and their feelings ?
The philosophizing can only go on so long. As the hero progresses he shouldn't STILL be wondering what a hero is years into doing it. That became a problem in The Walking Dead where ten years into surviving the apocalypse the characters were still constantly pontificating about their humanity blah blah. Gets repetitive and boring.
"Disney misunderstanding what people like"
You think?
This show runner failed the 1st rule of comicbook story telling. Powers are boring. Build the characters 1st. Give some meat to the sizzle.
why couldn’t they have just brought back the original writers….😔😔😔
Was there filler? not that much that really, I guess you could argue that in some episodes there were "wasted energy" but I think we all were engaged with the series. I dont understand
what the point of even making these comments? Why not just say they are building upon the great foundation?
I think the R rating is going to Disneys head again!! you continued the netflix show because it was fucking sick!! and the punisher Netflix made theses heros good not you, remember what you nob ends did to the punisher comics 😂😂what a joke that was. And the reason your continued the Netflix shows cause fans ain't having it anymore.thank you Netflix..
Dario was the showrunner of Netflix Punisher, he’s the reason Jon Bernthal agreed to come back for Born Again.
That's all I weighed necessary to remote your show just shitty on the previous show that people like.
Another Disney showrunner, missing the plot of what people actually like in content.
When brain rots are incharge of fan beloved IPs...this is what we get
He's not wrong.
I agree here.
What a god awful take.
So Matt facing the consequences of his decisions and choices is boring?
The trailer looked good
This is a new red flag
Disney gonna Disney, they can't help themselves.
& people are so dumb to think disney will honor the show, Daredevil died 2018
So he's mad. He was told to make the show like the Netflix series, in connection I mean. That clearly made him mad so he's trashing the original. But he failed to realize that plans change. Get over it.
He was not involved with the scraped version of Born Again, the original BA showrunners were fired by Kevin feige and replaced with Dario.
@jokester3076 that's what I'm saying. They hired him to make it like the Netflix series and he's trashing it.
That confirms it. This show is going to be 🗑️
low expectations for this... and also .. i felt the punisher show was average at best ... daredevil was best show on tv
Someone please buy marvel studios and 20th century fox before Disney ruins everything
Isn’t this the same showrunners as the Netflix show?
Nope. All different writers. None of them are from the Daredevil Netflix show. I think one is a writer from Loki I looked them all up, some of them have CW credits. One was a writer for Arrow and another is a writer from Naomi. Many are lying saying they brought back the same writers.
No He wrote some episodes on the punisher but never ran as showrunner it was Drew Goddard
Showrunner on Netflix daredevil
@ Yea I forgot about one of the writers writing for the Punisher, my point was none of these people wrote for Daredevil Netflix like many are claiming. I didn't really like the Punisher series. He was best in Daredevil season 2. Punisher season 2 was just bad in my opinion.
Loved the TV series - movies are dead to me after Miller's antics - zero interest.
To be completely honest, there were some filler episodes in the original run.
yup Matt was getting beat up a lot and healing from wounds on the couch in season 1 and then there was the love triangle stuff with Karen and Elektra in season 2 which was dumb and Foggy complaining about him being Daredevil. I liked season 3 the best. Season 2 was cool with the punisher stuff. Punisher was better in Daredevil series than his own show.
Ah yes let's make sure we get rid of any of that pesky character development.
This like this why the MCU has been failing.
That’s why nobody rates Disney no wonder HBO Netflix even apple are above your dead platform worst one
Over exaggerated much...
I loved DD but they beat you over the head for 3 seasons with it.
God forbid he doesn't want to redo that same thing over and over ..
Stop reporting, you've all become sassy grown men over nothing
Daredevil Netflix is by far the best live action Marvel ever.
It was masterpiece but daredevil born again will fall downhill like rest of Marvel shows
Agreed.
So is British 18+ like American NC17?
See these people don’t understand the comics nor the fans..these dumb people still try to re invent the wheel..man sometimes
Charlie Cox and Vincent D'onofrio have creative input
