- After Elly De La Cruz made his MLB debut in 2023, he quickly became one of the most exciting rookies in baseball, and it's easy to understand why. With his combination of speed, power, height, and energy, De La Cruz has a promising future. However, the journey to his debut was not always easy, and he is already facing struggles despite his hot start.
This is the story of Elly De La Cruz.

Confidence is such a big part of a rookies career moving forward. He started out on fire so in his mind he now knows he can do it at this level and can even get better. Lots of fun watching this kid from an old Mets fan here…
It blows my mind we just got O'Neil Cruz and people were talking about how he's a freak athlete as a 6'7" shortstop then the next season we get Elly Del La Cruz another young Dominican shortstop at 6'5"
& elly not even really 6’5 people that know him say he’s closer to 6’7 then 6’5
La Cocoa is one of the most determined young men in the MLB. A true team player. Bumps in the road will never deter him...Poised for greatness for many years to come!!!
I went to a ballgame on the west coast the guy has crazy energy and speed!!!!! Tall and Athletic.
It's not just Elly, that whole Reds team has a lot of rookies that contributed to that winning season.
Your video was incredible. I loved watching it!
When i played with Elly in the AZL and low A we all knew our kids one day would want an Elly de la Cruz jersey. We were also like, who tf is this kid, and why haven't we heard about him. He was electric.
You played with him befor
This channel is underrated
On gawd
Everyone: watching normally
Me: replaying the CLEAN transition at 7:53 5 times
this man is more than aawesome
You deserve so much more views man

A guy like this can change a franchise. Tatis was the same way for us. Very excited about the Reds
Reds will eventually trade him away for peanuts because our team's owner is cheap as fuck.
@@jblz86 damn 💀💀
Dude hit .235, and struck out more frequently than any other player in the major leagues. His on base percentage was terrible, as well.
@@dennissvitak5475He's also young and has a ton of potential, which is what I was referring to
You should do a video analysing the 2006 blue jays. They were a good team but barley missed the playoffs. They just needed better starting pitching depth
Hanga ako dyan kay Elly Ang lakas pumalo ang lakas bumato ang tulin tumakbo napaka listo pag nalingat ka naka takbo agad homebase 😂🤣💪👍
That guy is the best thing to happen to baseball in a very long time I mean I’m watching baseball now and haven’t watched since Darryl strawberry
I am amazed De La Cruz is considered Reds best player. Today, he strikes out 4 times. Including today, how many times this season has he struck out with a winning runner on 3rd base? He makes a magnificent play that sports center will televise over and over. Trust me, he makes many more offense and defensive physical and mental errors costing the Reds numerous games than than he contributes to winning. The Reds currently reside in last place. Enough said.
50 errors in 112 MLB games. I am shaking my head. They need to get him out of the infield.
they tell the pitchers to strike him out because he is notorious for stealing bases. he is literally so fast he has run from home to home in well under 15 seconds. they throw him balls that are hard to read because once he’s on base he’s fast enough to make it home on one error… also to be fair to the reds majority of their main rotation for batters has been out at some point this season. hear ya though just saying give the kid a break it’s not his fault the media is hyping him up so much. he’s just putting his heart into the game!
@@mazzysyrup Elly now leads baseball in fielding errors and in strikeouts. Okay, he has swiped the most bases. Does this make him the Reds their team MVP?
My brother held A baseball when he was 2 years old
Did i ask. My son held a baseball when he was 1 years old
@@ShannonRueschdid we ask
Well done
dude ran a 4 second 40 in baseball uniform and spikes
Good channel. 🥰🇵🇷🇩🇴
Its pretty crazy to think hes done all of this, and hes only 21
Another banger
Hey his debut is on my birthday
My dad he was about to be in mlb but then his team didnt wanna resign his contarct and he retired (ariel urena) he was in the acdamy with soto
Seems to me he's a Tall Stop. Fantastic talent.
He has already been clock with throw from his 3rd base over to first base with a pitching speed throw and beating the base runner, at 97 plus, so has anyone considered giving him a try at being a pitcher
hes just built diffrent
We should call him special speeder
7:53 do y’all notice that
Thank GOD I'm not going insane
“We need to go to the beginning”
counter going to 2092
From what I can tell he’s doing better in 2024. Correct me if I’m wrong
Just stop hating brp
But he’s a 11% below average hitter with a 89 ops+
And a 37% k percentage
yeah it took me a while to make this video and he kinda fell off since I started haha, but I still wanted to tell his story, plus there’s no denying that his accomplishments during his first few weeks were crazy
Don't forget the .235 average, .300 OBP, and MINUS dWar.
Add in a .947 fielding percentage, and FIFTY errors in 112 MLB games. On pace for 70+ for a full season.
Today is his one year anniversary of being called up
is so cool
699k views, nice
7:53 -200 aura getting called short in 20 different languages
Definitely needs more work hitting and getting on base wise but he has time.
Who knew Eloy before he got to the majors besides me
WOW
I’m so glad he does not have steriods like,e my old favorite player Fernando tatis jr. 😮
Can’t wait for strike zone perfection.
I hit my first homer in 2024
2018 for me
He is not the fastest in mlb rn it’s Bobby Witt jr
Who would win in a race de la Cruz or Tyreek Hill
How come at 7:50 he swung righty
If I somehow forgot to mention it in the video, he’s a switch hitter 😂
How does dude not even at 60-40 yet?
the light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long. i hope this doesn't happen.
ELLY DE LA CRUZ!!!! Cardinals scored on a sacrifice fly to the shortstop, and won 1-0. I didn't think a player could get his head that far up his a$$...DIRECTLY led to a loss.
Him and Oniel Cruz are gonna be scary in the future
oniels career will never be the same
They not brothers tho
So bro grew 5 inches in a year......as an adult??? Why juice up the story man 3:10
I watched him on Wednesday evening against the Cleveland Gardians and to be honest I wasn't that impressed tbh. Stuck out at least twice. Maybe just a bad game? 🇺🇲⚾️🤔
You can’t judge someone off of one Game… lol you must not watch it enough.
@@GTW6878 totally agree however I was only in Cincinnati for one game so........
@@GTW6878 I've watched his highlights on UA-cam. Heck of a player. I was given an Elly bobblehead at the game. Think I'll sell it when he's a hall of famer? 🏴👍🏻
Corbin carrol has wah better #s.... do you watch baseball?
needs to spend more time in AAA, way too many defensive mistakes and chases too many bad pitches
Agreed, he has the potential to be incredible in the future. Unfortunately the media is hyping him up way too much for how good he actually is right now, and I hope it doesn’t go to his head.
I'm afraid all the ESPN hype has gone to his head. He acts as if he's above the team fray instead of just being one of 25 team dedicated players. He's immature even for a 21 year old with his hideous, unprofessional long hair and does belong back in AAA for more Instructional development. He has tremendous potential, but I feel he cost the Reds in 2023 more games than what he contributed thus far. Bell deserves much of the credit, letting him get away with his antics. His on field decision making, 37%+ strikeout rate, 235 batting avg and amount of defensive errors all speak for themselves.
He is an average rookie,at the moment ,but ,probably with the experience he is going to be be great,as soon as he start to hit the ball he will be awesome.
@@Ramjet-lt1xche’s immature with his hideous unprofessional long hair? Get a life he’s a young man freely expressing himself playing a game he love. What’s truly hideous is your closed minded idiotic mindset and opinions
The thing said electric…..hmmm his electric went out so I guess he didn’t pay the bill
I had 13443
E. DE LA
I was gonna say this aged well, but you made this after the season? Bro he hit .235 13 hrs. He's so far from "taking over baseball" that's its weird you'd make a video on it lol. Wake up brotha avg baseball videos never make sense lol
He isn’t the fastest mlb player it’s Corbin Carroll
Wrong elly is barely faster
@@rylanknightsedits it’s proven that he is faster

💪❤️🫡🇩🇴🙌
His young age aside, is there any MLB player that acts as immature emotionally as Elly? Nope, not even close. If he acted professional and cleaned up his act both in physical appearance & and post game behavior, he would have twice the fans as he does now. Instead, he acts and looks as if he has never escaped the welfare projects & HOOD. He needs direction from a mentor like Barry Larkin in the worst way. Oh well!
sorry to say, but the fastest throw in baseball history from an infielder that I know of is Mason win at 100.6
The dude hit .235 for the year, with an on base percentage of .300. Both are terrible. His OPS for the year was .710, which was ten percent BELOW league average. His strikeout rate was 37.1%, the highest of any player in the major leagues. His Defensive Wins Above Replacement, or dWar, was MINUS 0.1...essentially, a below average defender. Phenom? HELL NO.
Fair, but you cant say he didn’t single handedly ignite the Reds season that was looking like a complete L… UNTIL they brought him on and they turned into one of the hottest teams instantly… Homers first couple games, hits for cycle, etc etc… You cant put a number on what some of those things did for the team…
@@shotbycamron - I can put numbers on everything a player does. Just because he has a rocket arm (and is STILL a below average fielder) doesn't make him all that.
@@shotbycamron - All hype. All bad teams do it. Try to generate a few ticket sales, and HOPE the player plays well.
21 btw
But I like to believe that Elly, one way or another, maybe even take some time since he just got called up, will develop into the phenom we slated him to be because he ignited a fire in that Reds organization and fandom that I can even get behind from across the country.
Hmmm he’s not as good as people said he would be so far
How about now at 21 and a month ..... minus Acunua tell show me someone that age doing these things ..... ill wait
Dude c"mon what is this music right after you said Dominican Republic atleast do some research instead of just searching up “spanish” music
lol
wtf was his trainer???
For real. To go from 6’0 to 6’5 just like that is insane.
Until he and the Reds go to the World Series and win it, I won’t believe it. I won’t believe in the hype. I don’t doubt De La Cruz was really exciting to watch in 2023, but I don’t trust him. I don’t trust him to take the Reds to the World Series anytime soon. In fact, I suspect the Reds’ owners will trade him to another team.
Late bloomer
He needs a random drug test done.
This guy hasnt taken over baseball, hes just mediocre.
Bro Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the world

He’s a bust
