I've been listening and getting to know Fela's discography for just a few years now and this I think is my favourite of all and there's a lot I love! That 1,2,3,4 count is a joy
...Fela had a song about everything because he was actually a very astute social commentator who chose music as the medium for his messaging - think about it, he could have become a writer, a poet, a TV personality or suchlike. Using the reference points which pepper the lyrics of any chosen Fela track, you could easily paint a picture of what life was like when the recording was made (even down to the exchange rate of our beloved ₦aira in some instances). Na wa.

He never played live in his underwear. The clip in his underwear that people see now was a composition (Authority Stealing) that came to him in his sleep. So he called all his band members to rehearse it immediately
Fela was always well dressed up coming on live stage. He usually removed just the shirts while playing. Any picture or video you see him in his underpants were at his home doing rehearsals.

The commentary at the bottom of these videos is brilliant. Hearing the stories really puts you in the picture.
This happens in America too, people go to Paris one time and come back thinking they are well traveled and know all about the world
