John West is a world-class singer. Not just in Artension or Royal Hunt--he is an incredible singer on his own. The control and vibrato he exerts on songs like "Phoenix Rising" or "Valley of the Kings" are unmatched... and then you hear him live and he is still just as good. Truly a musician of the highest caliber!

I agree! They're my favorite band! John West is amazing one of the best singers I've ever heard. He's got superb range. The guitar is always soaring with the keyboard and I love that they are a bit like Deep Purple or Stratovarius or Kayak (The Dutch Band) in that respect. I think Royal Hunt stand up as the most exciting melodic hard rock band off all time. I'm including in there a lot of other amazing bands. Royal Hunt are the best!
Such a great video! I can't believe my ears. Me and my wife being residents of St. Petersburg were at that show and frankly speaking the sound was lousy John's mighty voice was hardly ever heard.
This was the best line-up RH ever had, and it shows. The chemistry and the energy in this DVD is unmatched in any other live performance of the band. Jidell is a monster, riffing and soloing (he incremented many of the original guitar lines, making the songs sound way more interesting). It's a shame Jidell, Olsen, Schelander and West have all parted ways with RH. Paper Blood is among their best albums; Paradox II was also amazing.. but after that, the band sadly went in a downward spiral. Not because of DC (he is still good in spite of the steep decline in his voice), but the songwriting as a whole has suffered a lot.
i can't wait to see them at progpower 10 i told my friends in line at 9 that i hope royal hunt comes to ppusa 10 but i bet they wont so when they announced them i was flipping out Royal Hunt is the best now i hope that Voodoo Circle comes to the preshow or Silent Force come back i haven't seen them since ppusa 3 they are my second fav. band or Pink Cream 69 come back since ppusa6

this is the best group setup in my opinion.the other guitar player was a nob with gear and a band (no timing,No harmonics,2 scales & only-6 figures as far i know,he was always trying to catch the rhythm. the bass player has improved alot,and man! the other drummer just sucked. im glad the keyboard guy changed those guys his music and lyrics deserve it.

I Recommend an album where John West sings. The album is called Sevdah metal and recorded with an awesome guitarist from Bosnia EMIR HOT.

this is the best group setup in my opinion.the other guitar player was a nob with gear and a band (no timing,No harmonics,2 scales & only-6 figures as far i know,he was always trying to catch the rhythm. the bass player has improved alot,and man! the other drummer just sucked. im glad the keyboard guy changed those guys his music and lyrics deserve it.
As much as I like the current version of the band, this setup was the most rocking.
