Is there a way in sky safari to key in RA and Dec and then this location would be displayed on the app?

I'm not aware of such a function. When I've wanted to get to a specified Ra/Dec I've had to read off the equatorial grid on the screen.

Don’t understand why you don’t align the scope before having to do all of this?

You do complete your telescope alignment routine as the fist task. This video is trying to help you find deep space objects when your telescope alignment does not place the desired target in the centre of your eyepiece field of view. When this happens it can be really frustrating trying to find your target. This video gives you some ways to minimise the frustration.
