I love the fact despite this is a beast all its functions are visually layered and so much easier to learn vs other high end synths. Plus ..it kills them all
I have to admit I underestimate this synth, this is the ultimate modern paraphonic synth. It's so modern and creative that, I never seen the features of Matrixbrute appears in anywhere else. It's just so crazy to see so many modulation possibilities can appear in a big matrix, and it could be used to create sequence and arp. Really can't believe this is an analog synth. I'm totally blown away by Arturia, they are amazing...

I love this. It's so clear and concise. I'd always assumed that this was a device for keyboard wizards but now it looks like a wizard synth that happens to have a keyboard! I'd love to learn more about the CV options.
"Man, this is a great video! ...wait, this is the same guy that made the Maths module video I'm in the middle of watching too!" Easiest subscription ever.
For anyone curious about the CV patch bay, here's a quick version: CV inputs send your signal straight to whatever parameter is on the label. You must attenuate before it goes in if you desire that, inputs do not pass through the patch bay. You can't modulate reassignable destinations. CV outputs send out whatever CV is already acting on a parameter, after attenuation and mixing. For example, if I wanna send out LFO1, I send it somewhere on the patchbay like VCO1 Metal, then take the CV output labelled VCO1 Metal. Sources can be mixed. (For pitch, it sends the 1V/oct signal that VCO is receiving, NOT the oscillator itself).
Yeah, it has a deep factor that really makes a difference in a creative studio. Pre-set and Rompler fans may be aghast unless you have a programming accomplice!
For a fraction of the price, I would strongly recommend the Behringer Deepmind series..It's so much easier to modulate waveforms, direct your mod sources; there's an unlimited supply of digital FX pathforms and pathways...it's super easy to follow/interpret and a great way to make any crazy amount of sound forever possible..
Once I pay off my current batch of synths, this is the next one I'm going to get. My want of this synth has spurred me into learning how to actually play piano.
EmperorDoom yep I'm in the same boat I have three boards in paying on right now one is the roland jdxa I wish I got this one instaid but I will get this one soon.

A strange comment in my opinion. Indeed most instruments could be said to be anaemic until you hear them played by serious and talented musician's! Tools are just tools but master craftsmen and women can really make them speak!
Surely this is going to become a modern classic. A lot of time must have gone into the dev of the MatrixBrute. I love the places that this thing could take someone, even someone starting out. It's the kind of thing that a person could grow into. It's accessible and immediate - as you pointed out. But it's the kind of thing, that I think someone could sit in front of, and it would help creativity... some of the extra sound designer sets (produced as a free add on) are also amazing too. I wonder if something like the Moog One, is really worth 3.5 times more. Different markets I guess.
For what one person's wish is worth, I'd absolutely LOVE to watch a video from you about the CV patchbay of the Matrixbrute. You have an engaging yet very natural manner of speaking, and a nice wry sense of humour; and you are very clear, structured, and insightful while sharing information. (Plus you seem to know your stuff inside out - which is kinda refreshing too. :) )
Excellent presentation of the Matrix. That's a absolutely beautiful synth. I am pleased that you made some sounds before signing off, I got to hear a little more of what it can do. Any "mono" synth for that price tag has to have balls, no matter how many features it has. I am happy to say it is not wimpy. Having a 4 octave KB is an advantage. Moog's Subsequent 37 only has 3 octaves and does not have near as many options as the Maxtrix. $1500.The build quality looks solid. $2500, but can be had for less.
Excellent Video!!! Well explained, I have played with this synth in guitar center, but the Matrix panel looked so intimidated I didn't know where to start. Now it makes sense ! Thank you for making this video.
I would very much love a video on the cv connectivity, I haven't seen any videos on youtube detailing what can be done with a matrixbrute and a eurorack setup (maybe even MB+VCV Rack?). I think a video on external input shenanigans could be cool too.
I would like to see this as well. I have had mine for more than a year and have not figured out how to apply the cv outs properly, even when using it with modular/semi-modular synths.

I've had the chance to play with a Matrix Brute for several hours on numerous occasions and this has never changed. Your video only reinforces my feelings. If every one of those CV ins produced a corresponding MIDI response that could be routed to a DAW, this would be almost be an insta-buy for me.
Thanks for the comment... patch bay video coming... it does convert notes to cv but you can’t go the other way around. You can insert cv control to the oscillators but it won’t go ahead and convert that to midi
The JDXA is a great deep synth, but it is a pain to program through the limited access menu system.
