    i have just lately began to appreciate monophonic analog synths though i now 62y old have lived much through the whole era from analog to digital, and monophonic to polyphonic, but i am turning back to the "early style era" and just bought/ordered a cicuit monostation, greetings, granpa Levi in sweden - and thankyou for this nice demo of a great and powerful sounding synth!

    I love the fact despite this is a beast all its functions are visually layered and so much easier to learn vs other high end synths. Plus ..it kills them all

    I have to admit I underestimate this synth, this is the ultimate modern paraphonic synth. It's so modern and creative that, I never seen the features of Matrixbrute appears in anywhere else. It's just so crazy to see so many modulation possibilities can appear in a big matrix, and it could be used to create sequence and arp. Really can't believe this is an analog synth. I'm totally blown away by Arturia, they are amazing...

    For anyone curious about the CV patch bay, here's a quick version:
    CV inputs send your signal straight to whatever parameter is on the label. You must attenuate before it goes in if you desire that, inputs do not pass through the patch bay. You can't modulate reassignable destinations.
    CV outputs send out whatever CV is already acting on a parameter, after attenuation and mixing. For example, if I wanna send out LFO1, I send it somewhere on the patchbay like VCO1 Metal, then take the CV output labelled VCO1 Metal. Sources can be mixed. (For pitch, it sends the 1V/oct signal that VCO is receiving, NOT the oscillator itself).

    Surely this is going to become a modern classic. A lot of time must have gone into the dev of the MatrixBrute. I love the places that this thing could take someone, even someone starting out. It's the kind of thing that a person could grow into. It's accessible and immediate - as you pointed out. But it's the kind of thing, that I think someone could sit in front of, and it would help creativity... some of the extra sound designer sets (produced as a free add on) are also amazing too. I wonder if something like the Moog One, is really worth 3.5 times more. Different markets I guess.

    Excellent presentation of the Matrix. That's a absolutely beautiful synth. I am pleased that you made some sounds before signing off, I got to hear a little more of what it can do. Any "mono" synth for that price tag has to have balls, no matter how many features it has. I am happy to say it is not wimpy. Having a 4 octave KB is an advantage. Moog's Subsequent 37 only has 3 octaves and does not have near as many options as the Maxtrix. $1500.The build quality looks solid. $2500, but can be had for less.

    Wow ok yes I have to agree with the rest of the crowd here - this was the best demo and explanation of the Matrix Brute that I've seen. Twice in the past year I had gone into a Guitar Center and sat down in front of one of these, confidently believing I'd be able to coax some interesting sounds out of it. And twice I was proven wrong. So I lost interest.
    But after watching this, wow ok this actually looks quite powerful. The fact that they included a ladder filter is crucial, because the Arturia's Steiner-Parker filter does NOT do it for me. And of course, 3 voice paraphony is great. But most interesting is definitely, as everyone else is saying, the patch bay. Critical question - I'm assuming that it must do MIDI-to-CV for those outs to work when controlling the MB remotely (right?), but does it convert CV inputs from the patchbay into MIDI messages out? If every one of those CV ins produced a corresponding MIDI response that could be routed to a DAW, this would be almost be an insta-buy for me.

    • @loopop
      @loopop  6 років тому

      Thanks for the comment... patch bay video coming... it does convert notes to cv but you can’t go the other way around. You can insert cv control to the oscillators but it won’t go ahead and convert that to midi

      The JDXA is a great deep synth, but it is a pain to program through the limited access menu system. I had one and sold it because it just sat in my studio gathering dust (and Roland ignored it after creating it - no computer sound editor which it badly needs). On the other hand, I have a Matrix Brute which gets a lot of my attention because it is so accessible! Two very different synths. I guess the question is, do you need a hybrid poly synth with a great vocoder, or an analogue mostly mono synth? Out of the two, the Matrix Brute is built like a tank whereas the JDXA is a lump of plastic.

    Wonderful Video as is your norm..wonderful synth. I would love to see you do a cv patch using other synths a Drum ( Digitakt etc) and maybe a few Eurorack ( maybe even via the Arturia rack). Anyway whatever you do will be good.

    Amazing video perfect tutorial.
    The Big Beast that is versatile flexible and friendly.
    It reminds me of the Antonov Aircraft.
    My dream Synth was a smaller version of this Brute.
    Everything the same. Shrink the size.
    Let me tell you, it would have sold ten times greater.

    The CV section would be great to cover with other gear connected as well as external input and oscillator wave folding, metallizer, sequencer use with the matrix would be nice.

    I love my MB. I do always find myself wishing all the mod destinations were assignable. Still, lots of fun in this machine.

    • @loopop
      @loopop  6 років тому

      What do you mean by assignable? Or do you mean the switches...?

    • @iVardensphere
      @iVardensphere 6 років тому +1

      loopop By that I mean the 4 freely assignable destinations on the far right of the mod matrix. There are so many great destinations that aren't a part of the fixed matrix that I always run short on assignable ones.
      But still, it's really quite powerful and a fun environment to get immersed in.

      Definitely agree with this point. My biggest hope is that they can add more assignable destinations in a firmware update. Sidenote: Love your music Scott!

    Does the future of synthesizers lie in modular units and sequencers rather than traditional keyboard synthesizers? Perhaps Arturia are seeing what people are doing these days and they have built this all in one unit. This is a really awesome and powerful instrument though.
